I really prefer and like best the Mohair cinches, they are soft and have natural fibers. Also I like the alpaca strands as well same reasons. The less fake materials I can get for my boy the better. In these cinches I get the roper style, it covers more of an area spreading the pressure over a greater surface and I feel making it a little more comfortable for him.
Thank you for your video it helped me have a better idea for where it should be on him.

Patrick, I liked your clear and concise explanation on where to place the cinch. Like you said it is important to have the buckle above the elbow. I like Mohair Roper cinches with a roll snug cinch buckle. They make it easier to pull the Latigo tight without needing too much effort. I like 8" from the D of the saddle to the D of the cinch...Mohair cinches are soft and comfortable for the horse.

I need your help. I have an arab who is very large for her breed. Western is always my favorite; however, I am training her proper and need her shoulders to be worked more. Therefore, for this, I use an english. BUT, she is so large that I have her fit to a 30-32 inch conch otherwise you cannot see the cinch on either side of her. BUT, even on the very first notch in the billet straps, the buckle of the cinch ends up being so tight you cannot get it off and she is uncomfortable. The cinch is perfect for her but I cannot attach due to it being too tight. I cannot make another notch because there is not enough leather. Do you have any suggestions for this?
