    I love how she does videos about barrel racing and her daily routines and things, but doesn't forget to help people out with their riding as well. She is truly an amazing person/equestrian.❤

    Lol. Chester is adorable! It's he ticklish around the girth. It was funny. Everytime you pointed to spots and stroked his side, he swung his head back to check it out.

    Something she mentioned that is automatic to riders but not to newbies is that most of the work should be done from the left side. Putting on the blanket, putting on the saddle, bridling, etc. Horses also like things to be consistent and might actually give you a reminder if you dont.
    I might have added some basic safety for newbies of things to watch for with behavior, ears, moving around the back of the horse, etc. or a link to a basics video.
    Loved it!

    Thank you so much for this video. I’ve ridden English my whole life, but I’m taking a job working on a friend of a friend’s farm in return to ride around. It’s all western and this has been so helpful ESPECIALLY with the cinches!!

    I would like to point out that during ALL of the "saddle up a horse" videos, I have watched, that no one ever mentions, when brushing, is don't use pressure hard enough so that it bends the bristles on the brush. Doing so defeats the purpose of the bristle tips. The finer the bristles the finer the pressure. I've seen many people press so hard that the bristles are almost laying flat against the hair. This does not clean out dirt, sand, dust, or other debris that may be buried deep in the hair.

    I dont want to sound dumb but is there a reason why you saddle up by the left side is it because of the buckles on the saddle itself

    So my horse doesn't go around barrels very fast is there some thing I can do to help us go around barrels faster? We barrel racing and other stuff.

      Even though I'm not Sadie, I hope I can help!
      Since I haven't seen your horse move, I can't say 100% how to help you, but a lot of the time when going around the barrels, horses will slow down if they are not turning on their hindquarters. This is coined "rating" your horse. It'll give you much cleaner runs and better times when done properly! :)
      Here are a few other points that may or may not apply to your horse:
      - A horse who isn't collected going into the turn can't use his rear end to propel himself around. So if he's going into the barrels with his nose in the air or strung out, he's probably not being collected going into the turns which can slow you down.
      - If you are behind him in the turns and in/on his face, you will slow down... and this will frequently cause them to completely stall out on the rear end before they have to lurch forward to take off for the next barrel.
      I'm not sure if any of this helped at all, but I wish you and your horse well on your barrel racing journey!
      Never give up on your dreams, and especially not your horse! Have a fantastic day. ❤

    Thank you so much! At 64 years old and disabled, I know NOTHING about riding a horse. This is all very fascinating to me. But tell me; did you actually go for a ride? Or was this just a demonstration? If you didn't ride after doing all that, I bet Chester was confused and annoyed - or maybe not- maybe horses don't mind that kind of thing?? 🤔🤷‍♀️❤️

    • @MK_barrelracingOfficial
      @MK_barrelracingOfficial Рік тому

      I don’t think Chester, Kite or ____ would’ve minded, honestly she treats them so well they probably don’t care bc she already loves them a lot so they just appreciate everything she does for them❤️
