    I've been researching 4k monitors all day. I narrowed it down to 2 brands: Dell & LG. The last part of research is to come to UA-cam to get better visuals. I was pleasantly surprised to see that you reviewed both brands, as well as a comparison. There are so many LG 4k monitors that I was not sure which model to focus on, but I narrowed Dell down to the S2721QS & the U2720Q.
    I was leaning toward Dell, but after watching your videos my mind is made up. The only thing left to decide is whether to go for the pricier U2720Q, or save some money and buy the S2721QS.
    I appreciate you in helping me narrow it down further.

    • @tr3nDmaker

      Great Question... Both of these monitors are excellent across the board. I would easily recommend either. Now, between the two considering cost. If you are a student or professional in Graphics Design, I would opt for the U2720Q. Although, I think the s2721qs would be great fo graphics design as well. The u2720q is just better for that purpose.
      If not a Graphic Designer, the s2721qs is going to be amazing, and save 1/2 the cost.

      @@mahad8646 I have and absolutely love the s2721qs... I do not see this issue of blurry edges on my monitor unless you are viewing from extreme angles. Look at all the pictures of this... they are all taken at an angle that you would never view your monitor from and isolated to very edge of screen. If viewing at a normal position... I do not see any issue. I think this is just very unwarranted nit picking. Almost all budget 4K monitor have this issue. To get a 4k monitor that has a more perfect image... you will likely just to double or triple budget. I would not worry about it, unless you are a person who will be always looking for it.

    Hi, thanks for this review. I've just subscribed! :)

    • @tr3nDmaker
      @tr3nDmaker  3 роки тому +3

      No, I did not notice that color issue. Change Presets in Monitor to see if corrects issue. Also, see if you have inadvertently added a color profile or are in CMYK not RGB.
      Also... It should be also noted that the 5K Mac screen is pretty much the best monitor for Graphics Design and costs about $1,500 or 5x this monitor.
      On my Dell s2721qs and LG 27ul500, I had very good color profiles. These 2 monitors actually have same internal panels, just tweaked differently in software... I prefer the Dell, mostly on aesthetics.
      Note: I did have an issue with software once where I was in a the wrong color profile and when published on the internet... reds looked orange and bright purples looked dark.
      All my videos and Graphics have been done on the Dell and LG monitors.

    I really like the dell one. I purchased a newer model 4k. In my opinion, it is at the top for that price range, and even can recommend it towards the 400-500 price category. From that Dell, going to a 400-500 dollar category there really is not huge improvements from what i have seen. Not monitor is just 100% in my opinion either. You might get more fps with a 400-500 priced or higher monitor, but to non gamers that is not a huge area of concern.

    Hi Alex! I recently purchased the LGUP600 its pretty much the same as the LGUL500, i noticed the viewing angles from the sides give it a washed out/ TN Panel/VA Panel look to it, and im really worried, do you get the same experience as I do? Or is it because of the Anti-Glare feature? Thank you!

      @tr3nDmaker  3 роки тому +1

      I no longer have the LG 27UL500, so I can not check... but, I do not recall ever thinking it was an issue. I almost always am straight on to view my monitor and typically check view from side angles, but not at extreme angles. The stats on 27UP600 look good and I like the thin bezel. Clean look to it. Yes, anti-glare can affect angle view, depending on how thick it is...
      Are you typically viewing at a deep angle as part of daily use? If so, you may want to consider a different monitor for your specific application. No monitor is perfect... Question is... Is it perfect for your use. I have the Dell s2721qs on my MacPro right now and love it. I opted for it over the LG 27UL500/550.

So , I wonder if they made a mistake on model number... It happens all the time. It could also be a bad cable, Scaling the image for bigger text, or just poor settings. Sorry, again and again: 27" 4K display under macOS is a big mistake. It is not matching the retina standard. Thats why apple not selling 4k Displays. 4K is for television. 5k with 2880p (27" iMac) is the right choise with 218 ppi pixel density, where 200% scaling would be perfect since it would be "1440p equivalent" on the 27" panel.

    • @tr3nDmaker
      @tr3nDmaker  3 роки тому +1

      5K would be an ideal monitor for a Mac.... However, it misses the point for this video. These monitors are budget $300-350 4K monitors. Most 5K monitors are 5X the price at $1,300.
      Plus, if you like gaming... 4K works well and just a bit less on GPU.
      I have 3 Mac computers and both of these 4K monitors look amazing at 4K in a 27" screen. Going to 32" like the newest Mac Pro... the pixelation does become slightly noticable.
      When it comes down to it... many people can not afford to spend $1,300 on a monitor on a PC or Mac. So, going to 4K from a 1080p monitor at $300-350 is well worth it.
      If you can afford and want the ultimate for a Mac, absolutely go for the 5K. Although, I would not at all say it a mistake. I think the 4K monitors on my Macs are amazing.

      @tuxrunner 3 роки тому

      @@tr3nDmaker I am sorry, If you want to use 4k resolution on a Mac, you should consider a 24" display. Because 4k at that size produces a pixel density within the range that Apple designs for. 4K at 27" does not! This is a big mistake mostly from windows users... ;-) Sure you can connect an 4K display, but this delivers an not so sharp and clear picture. It is always scaled.

    I have one dumb question. Did you calibrate the LG monitor? What where the results? Too much "punchier" color would not be good for photography, for example, because people would look like clowns and during editing the photographer would have to be decreasing color constantly, so punchier colors are not always better. For playing games certainly yes but nor for professional editing.

      @@tr3nDmaker Thank you for responding back. You didn't answer my question though. So let me ask you this, I'm actually looking into buying either that LG monitor or that Dell you have there. So after adjusting all the picture settings including sharpness/detail or calibrating the LG, does the Dell still look better? One of the reasons I'm leaning towards that LG right there is because my existing monitor has the same base stand and I have a hole drilled on my desk to put the cables right thru there and unfortunately I would not be able to do that with the Dell. BUT, my priority is the actual image quality output from the screen so I'm willing to get something different. I would really appreciate a more specific answer thank you for your time.

      @@anorveaa I actually believe the LCD Panel is the same part for both of these monitors. Both have extremely good image quality for this price point. To get better than these 2, add $150-$200. The only real difference is the casing, stand, button layout and the internal tuning. I PERSONALLY like to look of the Dell better with borderless frame. On my desk as I type this, I am using the Dell 22721qs. But as far as image goes... there really is no difference, except for preset tunings.
      If the LG is a better setup on your desk, that is what I would purchase. With either, you are getting a fantastic monitor at a great price point.

    Will be helpful if you can compare u2720q vs 2721qs

      @tr3nDmaker  3 роки тому

      The U series is Dells Ultrasharp series. Very similar in most specs. Slightly nicer build of monitor casing on back. Includes usb-c. Most important feature difference is color accuracy. The U2720 is specifically designed for graphics designers. So if designer... go for U2720, if not save the money and get s2721qs.

    or a Samsung QLed 4k?

      The Samsung QLED is a fantastic display, but in an entirely different price point. Both of these monitors are under $350 and amazing budget monitors. The Samsung QLED is high-end.

      For Samsung QLED one, I still can't set 10bit in WIN10, it doesn't hv a DP, maybe the HDMI cable is not right.

      @@tr3nDmaker I absolutely agree with you (it's a matter of preference) However bothers me that nearly 100% of monitors made today have a matte screen (if not all ! ) Are manufacturers that dumb to not realize that there is a market for glossy monitors ?
