@@andreaswagner6022 Duesenberg is great, but their prices have gone through the roof over the last years, cheapest guitar you can get is around 1,300, with most guitars around or above 2,000.
I'm not saying that they're not worth it, but they are in a whole different price range than Reverend, about double the price.

True. The guitars are to cheap.
Yet they have their own hardware and pick ups. I think the quality of e.g. the switches is superior over many components used in other similarly priced instruments.
And when you produce these parts in comparably little quantities you don't reach economical scaling effects.
Further the guitars are handmade. Even though components are produced in far east.
I think the package is value for money.

Reverend is the best deal going, they stay in tune and have spot on intonation above the twelfth fret.. I wasn’t used to that. My Gibsons and fenders all are sharp or flat when I pick them up, not my two reverends..the superior nuts, the roller bridges and locking tuners.. the tuning is just spot on.. I was t used to it. I don’t care about anything else, they stay in tune and they perform like a champ. And the amount of pickup combinations are stellar. Glad to see chappers wasn’t on this, I can’t stand him. Good review, guys.

"Did he ever get the patent?" -- He certainly did. Beginning in 1962, the PAFs began carrying labels that showed the patent number instead of "Patent Applied For". The new label read "Patent Number 2,737,842."

    • @NINEWALKING
      @NINEWALKING 4 роки тому +1

Actually Gibson avoided to place patent number as long as possible and once they have started placing numbers on the stickers they have intentionally placed a number from some other guitar part. Why? Well they wanted to prevent other Companies to use patent to help them engineer their own solution. So P.A.F. was way to claim it is protected by the law but avoid giving the technical information to other companies.

The bass roll off is a audio log pot. So most change happens right in the beginning of turning it down. To get a lot more adjustment range, I changed mine out for a reverse audio log and it gave me much more adjustment. Its a super interesting control to mess with when plugged into a fuzz that cleans up when you back volume down

I love Reverend Guitars! I have a Manta Ray 390 (finished in a lovely color called Mulberry Mist, a kind of creamy strawberry) that I absolutely adore. So incredibly well-made, the pickups sound great, love the bass knob, locking tuners, and so playable. GREAT value for the price, no doubt about it. Great axes from a not so popular manufacturer:
    - they look great and do have that little extra to stand up against "total copies" of LP or Jag or Tele style of common runners in the market
    - i liked the looks of all 3 types
    - they sound great individually ! No need to compare them
    - that T-type was totally new to me; great blue wonder (;-)
So, thanks a lot for this great demo!

Yes! They eventually got the Patent for the humbuckers in '59. But only added the Patent numbers a while later. Although both have the same design, PAF pickups are much more sought after than their Patent number counterparts in the vintage guitar market.

Been a fan of Reverend - even when it was still located in Michigan, and somehow, I've always managed to have one of their models in my small quiver o' guitars. Been thru quite a few models over the years, and I've now a Double Agent W (the one with the Wilkinson trem, chronic blue w/' tortoise guard). There's just something about these guitars that make them instantly comfortable to play, and why I'll always have one, but I think my DAW is a true 'keeper'....And yes - that Avocado color is the bomb!

A few weeks ago I received my Double Agent W and I absolutely love it :-). The only thing that slightly bothers me is the string action particularly past the 7th fret, I presume this is because the Wilkinson trem is raised off the body to allow some pullback on the bar (it's my first Wilkinson trem by the way). I can see the two Allen key adjusters either side of the trem but my question is; will just winding them down be ok? Or are there other things that need to be done to make sure the intonation\tuning etc is unaffected?

Not every guitar player gigs. Lots of guitars spend a lot of time sitting on a stand in a bedroom. Adding a case adds cost...

One of the large music stores in Melbourne Australia were practically giving these away. When I asked apparently they're extremely unpopular here. Great guitars tho. Apparently their unpopularity is uniquely just here in Australia.

Little music store I used to go to in the middle of nowhere Arizona couldn’t sell them either. They were too expensive for the locals and not a fender or Gibson. It is a shame, because they rock.
