Lee was killing it in the intro jam, and Pete knew it. These guitars sound awesome. Love the bass roll-off - makes them super versatile - and that metallic red sunburst is gorgeous.
I'm surprised more people don't use the bass roll-off setup. I put two $0.03 caps in my Gibson as a treble bleed / bass rolloff and it made that guitar SO much more versitile.
Haha yeah, I mean given it's a Billy Corgan sig, you expect it will sound great with a fuzz, and it absolutely does. You could hear when he played the bridge clean it was almost screaming for some fuzz or distortion. What a great tone!
Sometimes I just click for the intro jams! Hats off to Lee's playing for making me want to by a reverend guitar...that T-style bridge with the p-90 style pickup provides a really unique crossover tone. its like a "Les-paulacaster". Thanks Andertons and Reverend!
I have an Alnico Grande in the bridge and Nuevo 90 in the neck of a Les Paul. I absolutely adore them. The Grande is like a JB with more beef and the 90 is so clear and almost bell-like while still able to get gritty. They are worth checking out.
I’ve installed these pickups in SO many of my guitars. Once you get used to playing them regular humbuckers just seem whoofy and that is due to the magnet design under the wound strings. I spoke to Joe Naylor when he very first came out with this design and he told me how much he loved the Bill Lawrence designed pickups. He wondered what it would be like to use Bill’s magnet design under the wound strings only and this is the result. Big slugs under the plain strings gives plenty of bloom. Tighter low end under the wound strings. These ESPECIALLY sound great in the neck position.
Good to see some originality in guitar design. As much as I love teles and les Paul’s, it’s time we had a bit more choice. Well done the designer at Reverend, very cool looking instruments. How about a junior model for those of us on a tight budget?
Andertons Music Co These kinds of Pickups allow for Lighter Gauge Strings because the extra winding in the coil (as well as Larger Sized Pole Pieces on the Treble Strings & Rails for the Bass Strings) compensate for their reduced volume.
The bass roll off is basically a filter cap attached to a pot. They have been used for a long time. The Guthrie Govan guitar uses this idea but it is a switch to crest a single coil sound. Same idea with a different execution.
I own 3 Reverends, A Roundhouse, a green Super Rev and a DAW Warhawk. Absolutely amazing guitars. Unbelievable tonal versatility, I even put Railhammers in my HH Blacktop Mexican Strat. Epic af.
Just bought a Reverend RG model. It's a fantastic guitar for the money. I think it's the first guitar I've bought that I won't be changing anything from stock.
Lee's playing has improved tremendously since Pete took over Chappers! P.S. We have seen that black Custom Les Paul to the right of Pete for several Andertons videos now. Can Lee and Pete PLEASE tell us about it, and play it for a bit?
I had a Double Agent before and it was great. I eventually sold because I didn't find the neck comfortable (no rolled edges) but my brother has it now and it doesn't bother him. It's his favorite guitar now
It's worth knowing that Joe Naylor did start the company in Michigan. Ken Haas joined later as a customer rep and became the CEO when Naylor decided to step back into a designer role. I had a Reverend Slingshot Custom in the early 00's when they were still made out of phenolic resin in their Michigan factory. Great guitar.
@nowhereismyhome1458 yeah the body style looks and feels fantastic to play. You're gonna feel like it's been missing your whole life. At least that's how I feel about mine.
I've bought and returned two Reverends, including the Z-one and agree with Lee's observation. The lack of rolled board really sticks out when I compare it to all my other guitars. To me, it makes them feel cheaper and less comfortable to play, which is a shame as I was really looking forward to the Z-one.
Jeez, insane tones from these guitars. I have two American Vintage Fenders (Strat & Tele) but I think I might add a Crosscut down the road. Now I can't tell if I prefer the purple or surf green. Seems like a lot of guitar for money ...
I think that these pick-ups are a look-revisited Wide Range Fender humbuckers. Maybe I'm wrong, but... Anyways they sound fine, no doubts. 👍🏼 Nice opening jam! 💪🏼💪🏼🎸🎸
Maybe it's a dumb question but let's say I get a crosscut and down the line I'd like to put humbuckers in it, will it fit in? Since the bridge pickup is in the hard tail, I really wonder...
Im curious to know other's thoughts... but these strike me as quite close to a nice wide-range humbucker sound (on the Cross Cut I mean) from a 72 Tele, perhaps. Im hearing the guts of a humbucker, with the retention of single coil responsiveness and clarity... am I crazy?
You guys really need to get a pedal cam going. You guys would sell a lot more pedals if people knew what you were using to get these killer sounds. Like when Lee kicked on the new Cloudburst in the intro, people go "What is that reverb?!" Then they go check out the video you did, and buy one from your store.
As Rod below says, Lee was killing that intro jam! Question 4 mins 'in' and immediately following that intro.... that bridge pup is surround by a substantial amount of metal in that bridge plate! That has to affect the magnetic fields of the pups! Does Reverend have any word on this??
Wow hold on there Captain 😳🤩🤘🔥🎸 that was a killer intro 💪 practice pays off🔥🤘🎸 I still think that the whole UA-cam Andertons channel is a big front so that Lee can surround himself with great players so that he can then rip them off and be a guitar god at some point 😂😂😂😂😂
One of THE best solos by The Captain! Awesomeness!
Lee was killing it in the intro jam, and Pete knew it. These guitars sound awesome. Love the bass roll-off - makes them super versatile - and that metallic red sunburst is gorgeous.
I've been watching Lee for many years and his playing has certainly gone from strength to strength.
I heard so many sounds that sounded stratty, P90ish, Humbucker.......
This.
@@devinsinderwitcz9134 Yep. No real cure for GAS, but this comes as close as will ever do.
I've said for years that Reverend Guitars are the absolute best sleeper guitars on the market. You get much more than you're paying!
Just found out they are based in my home town. Imagine my excitement!
I sold my Rickenbacker 360 12 string for a Rev Airwave-12. Just picked up a BC 1 and it absolutely rips they are an amazing company.
100%
Lee's playing keeps getting better and better!
Keep pouring your heart Into it!
That's the 🔑
16:15 the spirit of the guitar took over and Pete managed some proper smashing pumpkins vibes on that last riff. Good effort.
Picked up a Z-One about a month ago, most articulate guitar I've ever owned and really loves Fuzz.
Captain with the soaring tone! Very nice.
Great playing by the Captain! Appreciate the demo. I got a Reverend Double Agent for Christmas years ago, and love it. I'll get another Reverend.
I'm surprised more people don't use the bass roll-off setup. I put two $0.03 caps in my Gibson as a treble bleed / bass rolloff and it made that guitar SO much more versitile.
Captain your playing in the intro was outstanding! Loved your tone, feel and phrasing!! So good!
The new silver Billy Corgan sig is the first Reverend I've seen that made me think "now we're talking!". It looks sick.
Fook yeah! When Pete hit the fuzz i thought “holy shite!” ( which is the correct SP reaction :) )
Haha yeah, I mean given it's a Billy Corgan sig, you expect it will sound great with a fuzz, and it absolutely does. You could hear when he played the bridge clean it was almost screaming for some fuzz or distortion.
What a great tone!
Beautiful opening - great job Lee, nice touch and feel, the Purple Dude was OK too.
The Captain's playing has improved so much!!! Pete looked proud that his influence has elevated Lee's chops!
EVERY VIDEO! Is this a meme or something now?
@@PragmaticDany it has to be because its even on videos from 10 years ago
Was thinking exactly that!
Great stuff, Lee! And Danish Pete … just brilliant.
@@PragmaticDany what meme are you talking about ?
Captain took that opening jam up a notch when he kicked in the Strymon Cloudburst. That pedal is hot stuff
Fantastic sounds out of those pickups. Lots of options with the bass knob too. Like it, great video guys!
This is the first time Ive commented on one of your videos.. That INTRO was stellar!!
Sometimes I just click for the intro jams! Hats off to Lee's playing for making me want to by a reverend guitar...that T-style bridge with the p-90 style pickup provides a really unique crossover tone. its like a "Les-paulacaster". Thanks Andertons and Reverend!
11:30 I LOVE the Billy Corgan pickup design! Also, I really want to try a Revernd guitar, they seem very cool :)
I've had my eye on a Reverend Reeves Gabrels signature Dirtbike for a while now. Such brilliant and underrated guitars.
I've been using RH pickups for 10 years and they are absolutely fantastic. Highly recommended.
I wasn't totally sure about the usefulness of a bass roll off knob until I got a G&L Doheny recently, but now I wish all my guitars had it.
The leg lift into the bend at 1:11 ... that made my day.
The best duo on the channel jamming on one of my favorite brands. Great video!
Wow, great jam, didn't want it to end. When Lee started putting the guitar down in the middle, I was like "no, stop, keep it going!"
Funny to see Lee already has the new strymon reverb on his board, but I can’t blame him from how good it sounds.
I have an Alnico Grande in the bridge and Nuevo 90 in the neck of a Les Paul. I absolutely adore them. The Grande is like a JB with more beef and the 90 is so clear and almost bell-like while still able to get gritty. They are worth checking out.
Normally through UA-cam you can't tell much how they sound but these sound phenomenal
Have the G&L PTB (passive treble and bass) system on my Skyhawk HH and it's great for thinning out the low end flump when required.
Works well on my Comanche but not sure about the point of a bass filter on my HSS Legacy.
The best intro jam you guys have ever done
I’ve installed these pickups in SO many of my guitars.
Once you get used to playing them regular humbuckers just seem whoofy and that is due to the magnet design under the wound strings.
I spoke to Joe Naylor when he very first came out with this design and he told me how much he loved the Bill Lawrence designed pickups.

Lee was killing it!! #introjam.
Pete: "Oh, that's good, man!" plus the look on his face says it all! 🤪
Andertons Music Co
These kinds of Pickups allow for Lighter Gauge Strings because the extra winding in the coil (as well as Larger Sized Pole Pieces on the Treble Strings & Rails for the Bass Strings) compensate for their reduced volume.
Brilliant intro jam lads. I was laughing out loud the whole time. Love it
The bass roll off is basically a filter cap attached to a pot. They have been used for a long time. The Guthrie Govan guitar uses this idea but it is a switch to crest a single coil sound. Same idea with a different execution.
Best line: “Just slips it in there like a naught Reverend” lol😂
I think I'm in love with the crosscut's sound and I don't know what to do with my hands. Instantly fell for it at about 7:55 when he just went for it
Recently got a crosscut in red with the trem, it's absolutely beautiful, one of the best guitars I've ever played. Stays in tune so well too.
I can enjoy some sweet spots on the neck pickup toying with the tone control on this guitar. (Plugged on a Laney Supercub12). Gorgeous pair !
I own 3 Reverends, A Roundhouse, a green Super Rev and a DAW Warhawk. Absolutely amazing guitars. Unbelievable tonal versatility, I even put Railhammers in my HH Blacktop Mexican Strat. Epic af.

Intro is badass!! Nice playing!!
Lee's playing has improved tremendously since Pete took over Chappers! P.S. We have seen that black Custom Les Paul to the right of Pete for several Andertons videos now. Can Lee and Pete PLEASE tell us about it, and play it for a bit?
Grab a Reverend Sixgun HPP for a rock machine. 😉
Had to listen to the intro jam several time. Wonderful playing fellas!
I love my Air-sonic HB!
These Pups are sick!
I had a Double Agent before and it was great. I eventually sold because I didn't find the neck comfortable (no rolled edges) but my brother has it now and it doesn't bother him. It's his favorite guitar now
The captain has been practicing, and it’s really paying off 👍👍👍
Yes Mr. Captain great solo at the beginning great work
It's worth knowing that Joe Naylor did start the company in Michigan. Ken Haas joined later as a customer rep and became the CEO when Naylor decided to step back into a designer role.
I had a Reverend Slingshot Custom in the early 00's when they were still made out of phenolic resin in their Michigan factory. Great guitar.
I've yet to run across a Reverend in the wild. I'd certainly like to try one. I can see that bass roll off being perfect for cleaning up unruly fuzz.
Love my Crosscut W with the Railhammers. My Reverends are my go-to giging guitars.
Love my reverend slingshot 😊. It has p-90s though so maybe it’s time for me to get a new Reverend addition!
Are the p90s on the Reverend still have hum and if so how much
Love my Double Agent OG. Something really special about that Charger body style. Need to try this pickup combo next.
I just ordered one today! Can’t wait!!
@nowhereismyhome1458 yeah the body style looks and feels fantastic to play. You're gonna feel like it's been missing your whole life. At least that's how I feel about mine.
Reverend is one of the best value for money guitars built. I own a Reverend Jetstream RB and the quality is not far off a custom shop fender.
From the first note of this intro jam, cap'n have MERCY! Damn that was good!
So. In addition to treble roll off (standard) there is a bass rollout.. good idea.
Obviously we need a G&L/Reverend bass-role off circuit shoot out!
DUDES! Nicest intro jam ever!
Awesome video as usual. SOLD!
Ergonomic body shape. I would definitely buy one.
Look at the Cap'n!! Someone's been practicing! Intro jam was tasty, my dude!
not railhammers of course, but i adore my (purple!) reverend 390. the bass roll-off is super handy, indeed.
Damn Lee, your playing is fire these days!
Hey, there's also Yamaha Revstar having his passive circuitry. Great playing, cool guitars!
Lighters Up' for Lee and Pete!🎸🎼 Really Great tones! Btw 'I had 'no clue' of the before's! later realisms' of wtf?
Damn Pete plays his ass off! He’s far and away my favorite youtube guitarist. So versatile! Can play absolutely anything!
I'll play with you Pete. I'm in the same boat. But you'll have to get to Texas first. I couldn't say when I'll be in England next.
Killer opening jam!
What the heck is this?
I was so hoping you were going to review these fine guitars and have the new Strymon Cloudburst to add in.
Awesome sound Beautiful guitars and the pickups sound great
Nice vid. I love Reverend guitars.
Hey Pete, if you haven't yet found your baritone, check out the Reverend Descent. 🤘
I've bought and returned two Reverends, including the Z-one and agree with Lee's observation. The lack of rolled board really sticks out when I compare it to all my other guitars. To me, it makes them feel cheaper and less comfortable to play, which is a shame as I was really looking forward to the Z-one.
Less than 1 dollar worth of sandpaper and some elbow grease would fix it in 10 minutes wouldn't it?
Returning gear is such a Karen thing to do. Either deal with the issue or take your losses and sell it on
That Surf Green Cross Cut is my next guitar 100%
Good choice! It really stands out.
Jeez, insane tones from these guitars. I have two American Vintage Fenders (Strat & Tele) but I think I might add a Crosscut down the road. Now I can't tell if I prefer the purple or surf green. Seems like a lot of guitar for money ...
Great opening jam!
I think that these pick-ups are a look-revisited Wide Range Fender humbuckers. Maybe I'm wrong, but... Anyways they sound fine, no doubts. 👍🏼 Nice opening jam! 💪🏼💪🏼🎸🎸
That jam was inspiring!

That’s the first time Pete has sounded like Mogwai. Good skills.
Yess Booyyysss A Monday morning Tasty Jam!
Great intro.
You guys really need to get a pedal cam going. You guys would sell a lot more pedals if people knew what you were using to get these killer sounds. Like when Lee kicked on the new Cloudburst in the intro, people go "What is that reverb?!" Then they go check out the video you did, and buy one from your store.
What is the ambient pedal that Lee used in intro?
As Rod below says, Lee was killing that intro jam! Question 4 mins 'in' and immediately following that intro.... that bridge pup is surround by a substantial amount of metal in that bridge plate! That has to affect the magnetic fields of the pups! Does Reverend have any word on this??
It doesn't affect the flux field.
It slightly increases the resistance of the pickup.
I have the double agent og. P90 and humbucker. I my other guitars. It gets ALL the sounds.
What is the name of this jam track ? It’s fantastic. Love the z 1. Nice playing gentlemen.
Yeah but do they come in left hand?
Wow hold on there Captain 😳🤩🤘🔥🎸 that was a killer intro 💪 practice pays off🔥🤘🎸
I still think that the whole UA-cam Andertons channel is a big front so that Lee can surround himself with great players so that he can then rip them off and be a guitar god at some point 😂😂😂😂😂
I would have preferred the cross cut with the bass cut in the control plate and the switch where the bass knob is. Just saying.😀
Lee stealing the show on that intro. WOW!
Hoping I can get one before they go up in price!!
Reverend do well, thanks 😄
Why no Reverend basses at Andertons ?
Schecter Japan features lo-cut on some models as wel.
Thanks!
If this is the shoegazer era of Lee's playing, I'm so here for it.
Pete for The Pumpkins gig!
