  • Casablanca is a city of love, drama, and passion. A city just like the Hollywood film, even though not a single scene was shot there. Today, two worlds clash, tradition, and globalization. The name Casablanca invokes images of Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman, but the modern reality is completely different.

As a Northern European boy I lived in Casablanca in my younger years with my family from 1975 to 1981. For me and my family it was sure some of the nicest memories in my life as a youngster. Back then it was innocent safe and nice. Very nice people, very nice food and culture. Beautiful country as well. Stunning scenery and nature specially with the beeches and of course the Atlas Mountains close to Marrakech.

    The commentary is very wrong:
    1. Women don't have to go to mosque it's their choice but definitely not banned from mosque as the commentator says.
    2. The public baths are not only for men. There are baths also for women.
    3. The documentary is a waste of time. It is not about the city and the people ...it is completely focused to obsession about gender differences that it implies discrimination by default.
    4. He said women are allowed now to participate in competition... completely untrue...must research sports.history of Arab and Muslim women dating back as far as 1930's .

I believe the "moron" is actually you!

Men! How beautiful and moving city is Casablanca. Two things I had observed is 1. Thier original cultures and traditions looks swiped by the french and it might be difficult to get it in town in the future. 2. The contrast between the poor and the rich is imaginable. Today it seems a city for all peoples of diverse income. Unless their government intervene the poor will go poorer while the rich gets richer.

    • @hichamrocks

Since most of the visuals about Muslims and Islamic countries is played in the most negative possible in my country, it is indeed refreshing to see an inventor and creative genius, a Vespa club, a surfing competition, and how the hamman stay hot. People seem to like dissing it from the comments below, but I saw this a positive video on a beautiful city.

That is exactly right Tim Murphy. Casablanca in the '70s and '80s was even more open, more moderate, more tolerant, more cosmopolitan with French and Moroccan spoken fluently. You couldn't tell the difference between a certain urban class from their French counterparts. This country has deep Mediterranean roots, history, and civilization. It bears reminding that it is not S.A. or Iran.

You are the only one being hateful here.
Arabs are people who speak Arabic as a native language and identify themselves as Arabs; Muslims are those who practice the religion of Islam. Many Arabs are not Muslims, and not all Muslims are Arabs. More than a billion people in the world are Muslims, but fewer than 15 percent of Muslims worldwide are Arabs.
Understandably every prophet came with book of his language. However, that doesn't necessarily mean it doesn't apply to other nations.
The Quran states that clearly. In one verse God says “ We sent thee not, but as a Mercy for all creatures.” So no. Mohamed Pbuh was sent to all mankind. Regardless of race, faith and geographical location.

    • @animationmasterstudies2118
      @animationmasterstudies2118 2 роки тому

@hdidane00 also Islam means “Submission to God” anybody submit his will to God he/she will call as a muslim & follower of religion islam. So first person to submit his will to God was Adam .
And Muhammad pbuh is not founder of islam but last messenger of God. All prophets submitted their will to Creator like Adam , Abraham , Moses , Jesus , Muhammad peace be upon them All.
Now Quran is in arabic it doesnt mean it is only for arabs. God kept Quran in Original language to keep it from any type of interpolation or corruption. And thats the reason today almost 15+ millions memorized the Quran word to word .
And We have not sent you but as a mercy to [all] the worlds."
"And We have not sent you except comprehensively to mankind, as a bringer of good tidings and a warner, but most of the people do not know."
Islam is meant for all people regardless of race, nationality, cultural or religious background. From the commencement of his mission, the Prophet's companions came from a wide range of lands and races. Among them was an African, a Byzantine, a Persian and a Jewish scholar. All were united in the brotherhood of faith.
There are many references in the Qur‟an to the universal nature of Islam. It frequently addresses humanity, saying, "O mankind" or "O people." The Prophet, his companions and their followers made every effort to spread the message of truth to all nations and peoples. He naturally began the propagation of God's message among his own people, the Arabs, but that does not mean it was restricted to them - rather, only that initially conveying it to those nearest him was the logical first step toward the realization of a long term goal. Later in his mission when conditions became more favorable he sent letters of invitation to Islam to the rulers of Byzantium, Persia, Abyssinia, Egypt, Damascus, Bahrain, Yamamah, Oman and others who represented the influential world figures of the day. Whatever their response to it, the Prophet's message was fully acknowledged by the major powers of his time.

Opinions that we heard in this video are personal opinions, not everything reflected the religion that they practice..
for example at 9:35, this lady is saying that just because you are Muslim, that doesn't mean you cant surf..
That is true, Islam doesn't prohibit surfing.
But you do the activities is what matter.
But being her self, not covering her body completely according to the religion requirement.
and at same time give such statement, could lead to false understanding of that religion.
Islam doesn't allowed a woman to lose her hijab just because for sport or any related activities..
The rule's still apply, but the way (of doing activities) could be improve so that it is more to the religion requirements.
