I had the studio versions of the JCM800 and the Plexi. Loved them both but ended up selling. Finally got a Silver Jubilee and can comfortably say it's never going anywhere. absolutely floored by this thing.
The silver jubilee is probably one of the best amps ever made. Because there weren’t many made at first people didn’t realise and bang on about the jcm800 etc. the silver jubilee is my fave amp and have had and tried many.
I have the Studio Jubilee in a combo and love this amp! It’s so freaking nice, and the cost in Europe is so affordable. I’ve owned the Slash Jubilee and the 100 watts was too much. I like this amp better. I really love the greenback pairing with the amp. I have a Dr Z Z-Lux and it pairs amazingly well with this amp clean, nothing but delay. This amp plays great with pedals in my opinion. It’s one of the best amps I’ve ever owned, and I’ve had a 70’s Marshall JMP, a hand-wired Marshall 2061x (2 actually), a 70’s Fender Bassman, a Fender Vibroverb reissue. This amp is just as good as any of them. The EQ is amazing. The EQ on Jubilees have a lot of range. And all the options for awesome distortion! You can get that Texas blues by pulling out the gain knob and overdriving. It’s kind of like having 4 channels - clean, clean clipped, distortion clipped and full on distortion. And the amp sounds great at the lowest of volumes. Thank you so much, Marshall! The studio line is so awesome.
@@jono1291 I would have preferred the head, but I got the amp used. The head is probably a better choice so that you can use the speaker cabinet you like. But the combo is outstanding too.
Just had mine delivered from Thomann today! Your videos helped me decide this was the amp for me, I'm more than impressed by this amp, it's perfect, just what I was looking for so thankyou for helping me on my tone search 👊
Really nice playing and review here! It’s hard to find good reviews of this amp as many either don’t understand it or don’t know how to dial it. I have this amp and a few months ago I set out for a new cabinet. I ended up with a Fatboy Zilla cab with a V30 & H-Creamback. As it turns out, Paul from Zilla told me he uses the same combo from time to time although I believe his is the larger Jubilee. At any rate, this amp really loves that speaker combo. It sounded so good I sold my Orange PPC212 (which is a really good cab). This amp makes you work a little but once you dial it in, you get Marshall tones that beckon you to sit for hours ignoring your wife and kids…🤣 Thanks for doing the SJ Justice. Cheers 👍🏻
I prefer the Studio Vintage SV20 Plexi. But Im more old school 70's type of tone. But I do enjoy all your videos. I play strats with custom shop 69's and pure vintage 65's and your right the amps sound better with certain types of guitars. I love the way my strats sound with the Plexi. They didn't sound good through the silver jubilee it was just too bright for me.
Love my Mini Jub combo, changed the Greenback for a V30. There’s also another option of running the lead channel without the rhythm clip , that’s where the older school tones are. Great demo 👍
Good call. I have the same amp do the same thing. The rhythm clip is a great idea, but is a bit bright and there's a volume drop too. I love the amp though
I know I have said I do not prefer the Marshall sound in a lot of the amps I have had in the past. I think I was buying the wrong models and versions. This one sounds amazing Paul. Just found this vid of yours after researching some reviews and demos. I just pulled the trigger on one of these. I think this will suit me nicely. Love the tones coming from this amp on both channels.
Ok this changed my mind for sure - I was thinking about getting the Plexi version but then i realised i think that was mainly due to the 'nostalga' effect of wanting to own a 'Plexi' for some reason... The Silver Jubilee sounds incredable and a proper clean/crunch and lead channel is really what i am looking for - plus having master volumes is always a plus... Cheers man - great vid!...
Cool video and demo. I just tried the combo version today in a store and was blown away. Got great tones right away. Versatile and easy to dial in IMO. Was tough not buying it on the spot lol.
I have the silver jubilee now 100watt. And jvm410h. I love them both. But the jubilee drive channel is epic with a boost or klon in front. Update. I also have an afd100 slash signature. The jubilee and that are my favourite
How to get a great tone out of a jubilee: lower the treble and presence till your ears don’t bleed anymore. Turn up the bass to just before it gets wobbly. Turn up the mids until you get a thick yet spicy cream. Put the master on atleast 6 1/2, lead master to balance the channels and put the gain to reach the desired amount of noise. There you go, now just enjoy lead sound nirvana
Yes I agree. I've had a couple of these heads and I've found to start with the eq off completely and adjust upwards from there. It has the most active eq of any Marshall I've owned. I also had no problem balancing the channels despite what some owners have experienced. It's the best mini head of the 3 for versatility and has beautiful cleans too.
Everything what you said. The only time I might add presence is if I'm playing at a super low volume at home. But if I'm playing a show or something loud the presence goes to 0.
This is one million percent my experience as well. Super shrill amp and not enough juice to power the bass freq so you have to dime that to get bottom end chunk.
Great amp and fair review. I just gave mine away. Not because it was not a good amp though. It is for my nephew, because I wanted him to have a good amp that can do stuff his Twin can not. Henning really got it badly wrong about the amp not being a good pedal platform and it nearly influenced me when I decided on buying it. My wife was from there. The only thing I remember is how to say in German is that somebody's face looks like an arse with ears on it. Henning has probably been told that enough already though - hehe 🤪 P.S. 100% unbiased review? I get that, but there is a reason that "100% unbiased" is debatable. It is because if a reviewer wants to remain on good terms with the company, the review better not get them ignoring the reviewer's calls and emails. That would surely make the reviewer think more carefully about what they say. That's a small bias effect, but a bias all the same. 97% unbiased review does not sound right though. :D
I also almost didn't buy it because of Henning's review. I need it to be a decent pedal platform for our gigs. Anyways, ordered mine on Thomann yesterday. Now waiting to find out. :)
Great pairing with the PRS. An analogy I had become habitual about using when describing the PRS sound is that it often" sounds like driving a mud covered lorry with marshmallows for tyres". The silver jubilee is the first amp I've heard that challenges this bias of mine. Not saying I'm right just saying Stay safe and well mate ✌️ 🎶 🎶
@@TheStudioRats they are dark and to me, right on the edge of clear note separation in the lo mids, perhaps I just don't try hard enough to make it work for me. I'm only harping on it here cuz I've heard you say similar, I think most people just see the PRS headstock and presume it's a perfect guitar, which they certainly aren't. @@gmichaelhall people assume the prs is perfect mechanically due to construction and how they hold tune/intonate. Like the tele, I can never use it to play beyond the 12th fret due to how poor it intonates with the saddles, not to mention the absolute massive heel joint. Fantastic review. Excellent playing, top shelf sounds. I have the combo version of this amp and I love it. I tried it against the SC20 combo and although it was a tough choice, I made the right one.

Would you recommend this or the Plexi one? I think they both sound great in your vids but the Plexi is maybe better for lighter edge of breakup and overdrive tones?
Hey amazing video as always! Quick question I have an Marshall Origin 50c and I’m thinking about buying this Marshall 2525h. I play mostly in my apartment and I wanted to ask you is it too loud or can I get the slash tones at a lower volume? I’ve read that the master volume can fix this problem Thank you for your response in advance Greetings from Germany!
Except for your beginning tone, wich I did find a little harsh and shrill, all the rest were great. The two last ones with the Tele were simply superb. Thank you for the demo.
My man I love all your vids. I'm always impressed by your knowledge and tasteful playing. Even though I've never owned a Marshall in all my years I've played through a few. Never been in love But I must say when you play the Tele clean on this vid EARgasm. Your soul drips out all over the floor. Absolute beauty. Thank you. F
Man, first of all - congrats on your great playing style and some serious tones that you are getting from this baby! I am impressed by the tonal capabilities of Jubilee. Which setting/mode do you recommend to use on the EQD Plumes pedal? I have the same pedal in front of my DSL 20HR head and I am in the phase of experimenting with it. :-) BTW...I think that DSL 20HR is probably the best "bang for the buck" amplifier that I had a chance to buy in the last 10 or 15 years. I wonder also what is your opinion about it and if you had a chance to try it yet? Thank you for the useful videos that you put out!
Hi Kk. Funny enough I’m reviewing the dsl20 today. I use the middle position on the plumes but the dsl sounds very different to the jubilee. But yep it’s a lot of bang for the buck.
@@JosipAngeloBorovac Same here! I do wonder how the DSL 20 would sound with a V30 or other Celestion instead of the 70/80, since a lot of the fizziness that people seem to talk about appear to be more speaker related than anything else.
Hey thanks for all the great videos, your videos just made me buy silver jubilee and jcm 800 studio versions. Love em both 🔥 I have the of box as well, I’m not expection but have to ask would you reveal you Ox Box setting, everything is just so perfect in both jubilee and jcm800 videos 🤩🤩 Thank you so much anyways of the all videos 🙂
@@TheStudioRats Have to ask would you reveal what is your go to set up in the ox box? Everything sounded so perfect in Both silver jubilee and jcm800 videos 🔥🔥
Hi Paul! Great playing and what a great sounding amp! Can please tell me how you're capturing the sound? UA OX, microphones? That clean Tele tone at the end of the video was so lush sounding. Cheers!
Great demo/review. I want one! Is there a difference between the studio version that you Demo’d and the older version that is labelled as the mini 25/50 silver jubilee? They seem to have the same valves/preamp etc. Cheers. Keep the good vid’s coming!
Don’t know if still relevant, but the newer “studio” version are identical to the older “mini jubilee”. The 2525 Mini Jubilee was the first release of the small 20/5 watt amps. They changed the name to “2525 Studio Jubilee” once they released the Studio Series and added the SV20 (Plexi) and SC20 (JCM800).
What speaker are you using in the combo? Sorry if I am wrong about you using the combo which I thought you were using I apologize, but I am visually impaired and cannot be sure. I am using one of the 2525C models now, but changed speaker from Green back which came with it to cream back G2 M 65 and extension cab V 30 getting ready to upgrade amplifier hopefully improving Sound even more with a scum back black back for the combo inside using the cream back and my extension hopefully giving me a slightly more balanced sound. Thanks again. My black back is a heavy magnet, 65 W with a paper cone so very responsive, but still giving me a slight bit more headroom and certainly not sounding as trashy as that greenback sounds when it comes out of the box or at least as mine sounded and a few comments here seem to back up any suggestions? Love to hear them thanks. 11:20
Hi Paul, great videos on these studio Marshalls. I’ve been looking at these and trying to decide which would be best for classic rock, specifically AC/DC tones. I can see you prefer the jubilee, and it’s more versatile with two channels etc. But I was thinking the SV20 would probably suit me better, but then the SC20 has master volume. Anyway I just thought I’d ask for your recommendation out these three amps. Thanks, Lee 🤘
Hi Lee. They are all great and I think you’d be happy with any of them. I’ve ordered a Sv and a jubilee as they were my favourites. I’d recommend you get an SV, but you’ll need to crank the master to get AC/DC tones.
I gigged the mini jubilee for a year or so covering numerous ac/dc numbers. I must say the rhythm clip chanel with gain around noon and volume up was spectacular. Close to a malcolm tone as you can get. My old 2204 didn't even get that close. It is a classic amp.
That was a great review Paul thank you! It sounded like you had reverb which really warmed the sound up. Were you using a separate reverb pedal for that as I don’t believe the app has built-in reverb?
This amp has a complete sound. And is how I like to think the DSL 20CR sounded in my memory. This is definitely $1005 better. But first impressions of early loves have a magic quality. Would love to know about the speaker(s) this is coming thru, or is it direct? I plan to retain you as a quality youtube source. Thank you for good work.
Sounds great as usual, Paul. You've likely answered it before somewhere but, what exact model is that Pink Telecaster ? That thing is so great with this amp ( and others ). Please advise. Thanks for posting this. Love the amp.
Back to watch this again and comment on speakers and EQ. I started using my studio jube for gigging and upped the speaker wattage and volume by putting a creamback in it (it’s a combo). I put the greenback in a Dr Z cab with a UK vintage 30, and this amp sounds amazing through that as well. It even sounds great through an American voiced eminence speaker. The key is to dial around on the EQ. Marshall’s sound a little different with each room, whereas a fender is more consistent from room to room. That’s been my experience playing out with them. Fortunately, the EQ on the studio jube covers a lot of territory. If you’re not getting a good sound out of this amp, dial the EQ and you will get some amazing sounds.
Is the price difference between this one and the DSL20 , in terms of build quality, tone, versatility... (i hear that they sound different, but i like both) worth it ? I have an origin 20 and i love it (400$ amp that competes with my vintage italian and british amps, of course i love it) so the jubilee has to be real good to justify the higher price, but i'm also completely okay with paying more for something that might require less maintainance over the years and maybe have a better overall tone ! But only if it actually is better. So yeah, i wish you could help me on that one ! Thanks :)
Great review. I've had the SV20C for about a month, think I'm gonna exchange it for the mini Jubilee, the mini Plexi is definitely cool but I feel like I spend half the time battling the settings to get a tone that I like, and that great power tube breakup happens at a volume that is just too painful.
That's what is preventing me from buying one. I LOVED the tone. Have you tried Friedman? If yes which one? Im looking for basically the SV20 with a master volume. Thx
@@glp046 I have not tried any Friedman's. I sold the SV20 and ordered a Victory Sheriff which is a Plexi style with a master volume, it's a cool amp but I liked the tone of the SV20 better. I'm still planning on getting the Jubilee as soon as I find a good deal on one.
I know this is an older video but I just got this amp (partly due to the few videos you have using this amp) and I'm wondering how you're getting that sustain in the opening clip using this amp. Are you going through the OX and out to studio monitors in the room? Or are you recording that direct and that sustain coming entirely from the guitar / amp? If you're using the OX, is it a custom setting? Sorry for the questions, that tone is just so killer, I can get some close to yours but that sustain and screaming sound I can't. I don't have a Suhr but I've got a strat (which I push with an EP boost just a tad) and an LP. Anyway, any info from Pau or anyone else would be really appreciated. Thanks.
Can you tell me your signal chain and what all is added to the amps video sound. Also did use you use the effects loop, or all front of the amp for effects or all in your daw. Reverb eqs daw? Just trying to see what is all the amp vrs add ins. Thanks for your time. Shopping for this amp soon. It sounds amazing!! Great video!
great video! Have you ever mixed multiple amps in your productions?I'm looking for information about it but all the videos I've watched are inaccurate or otherwise poor. it would be super interesting to see your video for reference! Thanks
This amp fits you like a glove! How did you run the Jubilee on this video? Did you mic the matching 2-12 cabinet, or did you run it into the OX box, with reverb and delay?? Cheers
2:58 is that really the cleanest tone this amp can do? It still has some crunch to it, which I do like, but just wondering if it's possible to get a completely clean tone with no overdrive at all? I'm so close to buying this amp, but I want to be able to play some clean parts too.
What a great sounding review, may i ask you whats the single chain you use in this video , did you mic up the cab or did you use the IR , if you did which IR was it? Sounds so good
Hi mate, I like the mini jub a lot for recording. For pedals, the amp master volumes should be up like you had them. Dial in the preamp gain to taste. If the masters are low, pedals will make it sound thin. In my experience, it did not work great in a band. It felt like the amp struggled to keep. The bigger brother, however, is lovely with a band.
The Jub doesn't need a pedal for rhythm guitar. It has plenty of gain or back it off and it's great crunch close to an 800. I only use the TS9 for leads. Or a clean boost works great for both rhythm & leads. I'm using a mix of Greenback/Marshall Vintage 30 speaker 2x12. It has a different flavor than a typical Marshall. But it has that classic 800 grind which the newer Marshall's don't have, and the cleans are the best of any Marshall.
Hi Paul, how do you apply that stereo delay after the Two Notes Torpedo Studio?. It sounds amazing and so open, just wondering if it's a digital delay in the DAW or a stereo pedal. It would be nice to learn that technique. Thanks!
I had the studio versions of the JCM800 and the Plexi. Loved them both but ended up selling. Finally got a Silver Jubilee and can comfortably say it's never going anywhere. absolutely floored by this thing.

Some of the best tones I think I've ever heard on this video. So glad I own one😁
Would you recommend this or the Plexi one? I think they both sound great in your vids but the Plexi is maybe better for lighter edge of breakup and overdrive tones?
This guys playing would make a card board box sound good 😅
Excellent review! thanks
Hey amazing video as always!
Quick question I have an Marshall Origin 50c and I’m thinking about buying this Marshall 2525h. I play mostly in my apartment and I wanted to ask you is it too loud or can I get the slash tones at a lower volume? I’ve read that the master volume can fix this problem
Thank you for your response in advance
Greetings from Germany!
Except for your beginning tone, wich I did find a little harsh and shrill, all the rest were great. The two last ones with the Tele were simply superb. Thank you for the demo.
Thanks for listening
My man I love all your vids. I'm always impressed by your knowledge and tasteful playing. Even though I've never owned a Marshall in all my years I've played through a few. Never been in love But I must say when you play the Tele clean on this vid EARgasm. Your soul drips out all over the floor. Absolute beauty. Thank you. F
Cheers Freddy!
Killer sounds and guitar dude ! better than the second guitar -
This review is "very" helpful. Thank you.
BTW...I think that DSL 20HR is probably the best "bang for the buck" amplifier that I had a chance to buy in the last 10 or 15 years.
@@TheStudioRats Thanks, can't wait to see your DSL20 review!!! :-)))
Love em both 🔥
I have the of box as well, I’m not expection but have to ask would you reveal you Ox Box setting, everything is just so perfect in both jubilee and jcm800 videos 🤩🤩
Thank you so much anyways of the all videos 🙂
Great to hear.
@@TheStudioRats Have to ask would you reveal what is your go to set up in the ox box? Everything sounded so perfect in Both silver jubilee and jcm800 videos 🔥🔥
What a great amp.
Hi Paul! Great playing and what a great sounding amp! Can please tell me how you're capturing the sound? UA OX, microphones? That clean Tele tone at the end of the video was so lush sounding. Cheers!
I like the SV20H the best, & the SC20H 2nd
lovely stuff! any chance of trying a Strat through this amp? Will be interesting to hear something with "weaker" pickups
My Only Thought as a Strat guy
Epic tones throughout though!! Big time!
That’s my aggressive one. I use a Vox for creamy relaxing moments.
My jubilee through a jubilee cab is really a hard horse to ride.
Very nice Demo. Thanks
Great demo/review. I want one! Is there a difference between the studio version that you Demo’d and the older version that is labelled as the mini 25/50 silver jubilee? They seem to have the same valves/preamp etc. Cheers. Keep the good vid’s coming!
as far as I know its just wattage. the studio is just 20 watts.
Hey Paul, sounds great. It's all in the fingers! What was the head going into please?
I,m curious can this amp do bedroom levels ? Love this video and your playing.
Thank you for the nice review. I have the same amp, just curious what mics did you use to capture the tone?
@@TheStudioRats Thanks Paul that’s great, I’m thinking of ordering the Snakeskin 😁
I gigged the mini jubilee for a year or so covering numerous ac/dc numbers. I must say the rhythm clip chanel with gain around noon and volume up was spectacular. Close to a malcolm tone as you can get. My old 2204 didn't even get that close. It is a classic amp.
Get sv20 with solo Dallas preamp and that is AC/DC
@@TheStudioRats solo Dallas preamp in front
That was a great review Paul thank you! It sounded like you had reverb which really warmed the sound up. Were you using a separate reverb pedal for that as I don’t believe the app has built-in reverb?
I forgot to say killer playing by the way! You sounded amazing!!
cheers Bill, i was using a Universal Audio OX
This amp has a complete sound. And is how I like to think the DSL 20CR sounded in my memory. This is definitely $1005 better. But first impressions of early loves have a magic quality. Would love to know about the speaker(s) this is coming thru, or is it direct? I plan to retain you as a quality youtube source. Thank you for good work.
P.S. The DSL uses the same valves, but has the seventy-80 speaker. This as a combo, has the GM-12.
For those of you that own one of these, do you recommend the head and cabinet or combo for gigging?
Sounds great as usual, Paul. You've likely answered it before somewhere but, what exact model is that Pink Telecaster ? That thing is so great with this amp ( and others ). Please advise. Thanks for posting this. Love the amp.
Cheers Charles, it’s a 52 Tele custom shop
I've had the SV20C for about a month, think I'm gonna exchange it for the mini Jubilee, the mini Plexi is definitely cool but I feel like I spend half the time battling the settings to get a tone that I like, and that great power tube breakup happens at a volume that is just too painful.
nice one, let me know how it goes.
Try using it with a captor x
Nice playing. Nice amp.
I have also seen Paul's review for the Marshall Plexi. Both are great amps - for me the Plexi sounds a little more British.
yep agreed.
Thanks.
That pink tele is maybe one of the best teles i've heard omg
Cheers, yes it’s a goodn
Agreed! What a beaut' too!
Hi matt. The amp is going into a two notes torpedo studio with a bit of reverb added from a UA Apollo interface
great video! Have you ever mixed multiple amps in your productions?I'm looking for information about it but all the videos I've watched are inaccurate or otherwise poor. it would be super interesting to see your video for reference! Thanks
Hi Francesco, I always record with multiple amps. I’m sure I’ve done a video on this.
sounds amazing!
This amp fits you like a glove! How did you run the Jubilee on this video? Did you mic the matching 2-12 cabinet, or did you run it into the OX box, with reverb and delay?? Cheers
Cheers Rich,I ran it into an ox.
Great tones!
Excellent videos. I have the 2525h but I've been thinking of selling it for the SC20h, but now I'm not too sure.
both are great, personally I prefer the jubilee.
Don’t. Jubilee is more refined. Takes some getting used to with the EQ that’s all. It’s a killer amp
Ciao! I bought the 2525H after seeing you and it's beautiful. Can you recommend a 1×12 cabinet? Grazie
Alessandro
Personally I’d go for the matching Marshall one.
2:58 is that really the cleanest tone this amp can do? It still has some crunch to it, which I do like, but just wondering if it's possible to get a completely clean tone with no overdrive at all? I'm so close to buying this amp, but I want to be able to play some clean parts too.
What speaker are you using in that cabinet? Sounds awesome.
What a great sounding review, may i ask you whats the single chain you use in this video , did you mic up the cab or did you use the IR , if you did which IR was it? Sounds so good
Hi J I was using a two notes torpedo studio. I’m sorry I can’t remember which cab model. Thanks!
Sounds great what speakers are you going through?
Hi mate, I like the mini jub a lot for recording. For pedals, the amp master volumes should be up like you had them. Dial in the preamp gain to taste. If the masters are low, pedals will make it sound thin. In my experience, it did not work great in a band. It felt like the amp struggled to keep. The bigger brother, however, is lovely with a band.
Thanks for the tips!
Agreed. That’s why i got 100 watt
Hi Paul, how do you apply that stereo delay after the Two Notes Torpedo Studio?. It sounds amazing and so open, just wondering if it's a digital delay in the DAW or a stereo pedal. It would be nice to learn that technique. Thanks!
Hi Martin, I’ve got the delay in an Auxiliary internally in my UAD Apollo interfaces
What fx are used here? Cant find it. What a sound with the tele
Sounds awesome
Can you put a little delay(from a pedal) into this amp… and it still sound good? Also do you have it going into a cabinet?
What kind of boost are you using at 4:25? Is it a clean boost or and overdrive pedal? Thanks. I have this amp and haven't tried that setting.
It’s a earthquaker devices black eye boost
My new want is a Marshall SJ 20W and a matching 2x12 cab.
hi, to play the jimi hendrix srv, you would choose the marshall studio vintage sv20h or the prs hdrx 20 or the fender 68 vibrochamp 5w custom reverb
Sounds great. What is the setting? Mik or OX?
