Wow, en av de häftigaste inspirationsfilmer jag sett... Jag har själv suttit bak en gång i just denna lansen. Det var en upplevelse att känna roderharmonin och den smidighet som denna konstruktion så tydligt delger piloten.
Hoppas hon kommer upp i luften igen snart...!

Det som saknas är lite mer klipp utanför flygplanet, framförallt vid start och landning annars så var den riktigt bra!

Well, let's see. ..This Scrappy Civil Air Patrol Cadet was in Sweden in 1970. Got to fly in the "scope dope" position on a missile launch training run. 12,000', flip over, inverted DIVE, launch at ground
targets and pull out at 6.5 G's. Pulled 3.5 g's on the Wing Over from base leg to final on the single file approach to the airfield. Subsequently I went and spent 2 days with my Swedish relatives. My group of Canadian, American, Swiss and Royal Air Force "Cadets" got about 300 miles away going up to "mountains" in norther Sweden for "hiking". So the problem was, "Yah, sure..how should we get Mr. Hugo back with the group?" Bus, Volvo Station wagon, Train? One of the Swedish AF Majors said, "Well, if Mr. Hugo had a flight suit (Helmet, G Suit, tailored suit appropriate for crashing through a canopy if ejected..) we could fly him up there." The base Commander said, "Sergent, call the outfit shop and see if they still have Mr. Hugo's suit." (Which had been fitted for me, 3 days earlier for the first flight..) The Sergent came back and said, "Yes, it hasn't been taken apart yet." The Colonel then looked at me and said, "Would you mind jumping into a Lansen and flying up to XXX Flytgsport (Can't remember the right term in Swedish, but all the Swedes spoke English excellently!)" I resisted saying, "Is the Pope Catholic", or "Have I died and Gone to Heaven", and just said, "Well, I wasn't one of the 3 cadets who had to use the 'barf bag' after the missile run!" (That got a laugh.) So in no time, I was suited up, parachute on the back, holding onto my Oxygen hose, and headset plug in, walking out to my Second Lansen flight. We stayed at about 8000 Ft and did a leasurely 350 knots. BUT the pilot said, "I'm not supposed to do any aerobatics below 10000, but do you know what a Barrel roll is?" I said, YEAH, I know exactly what it is." The pilot said, "Would it bother you?" (He had not been in on that "decision" conference, so I repeated what I said about the missile run..he knew all about that from the pilots on that run, and their laughter at the guys that scarfed up!) "Well, let's have some fun." We spent 20 minutes doing barrel rolls on the way to our destination. SO SO SO...! When I watch this film it throws me back 50 years.
