This Song CLEARLY says “Be Kind, for Everyone is fighting a battle you know nothing about.”
The people that understand this song will never need an explanation……The people that need to hear it, will never understand it.
Truth
Preach!
Bars.
Exactly!!!
Doesn't need an explanation cause the lyrics are some of the most straightforward in existence, completely devoid of metaphor or deeper meaning
It may not be a song you listen to every day. But its a song where, if it comes on, you stop and listen to it.
That's a good way to put it. When this shit pops up you listen to it.
My parents lived next door to Everlast and his family in Cali years ago. He is really humble and chill. He'd go to the shooting range with my Dad. Good neighbors.
"You know where it ends, yo, it usually depends on where you start."
Everlast knows what's up. He knew before a lot of us did.
I've always loved this song.
Everyone has a journey.
Think and don't judge a situation you don't understand.
Love is the answer..
The same. I fell in love with this song when it came out and I wish more people simply took the message of the song to heart.
Loves me some Everlast. Put Your lights on with Santana ... Black Jesus
Black Jesus has more edge to it,,, another favorite
One of my favs also 😊
Ends also.
Climb
This message will never not be significant in society.
The part about the abortion clinic hits the hardest. I know there are women out there who get them and don’t care but I’ve never met one. The few that I know who have had them are forever torn up inside about it…they knew the choices available and made one. Unless you are one of them…you can only guess at what it’s like…
We do not warn young women that make that choice how hard it is. Such a shame.
@@Suelabrieyes we do
I had the absolute privilege to see him perform this song live about 11 years ago. He's better live. It's a performance that I will never forget. Powerful
This whole album Whitey Ford Sings The Blues is AMAZING you gotta hear this whole album !💯
This song has been out for ages and still gives me goosebumps to this day
This song still gets played on every local rock radio station, 25+ years later. Crazy.
He must make a killing in residuals haha.
Every. Day.
As the years go by more and more of the song is censored out. These days if you don't already know the song, you'd never know what it's actually about
@@MitchellRoboto Cancel Culture killing truth to replace w/lies.
@@MitchellRoboto funny you say that because when I watched this video, I thought to myself how I haven’t heard the uncensored version in probably 20 years hahaha. I forgot what it sounded like.
@@MitchellRobotoit's wild - can't say "gun" on the radio because we don't wanna influence the kids, yet they get to have active shooter drills in school (I'll leave it at that because no need to dive deeper and piss anyone off). It just blows my mind that they think censoring the music makes any difference.
Every time I hear this song it gives me the chills.
Always loved this song. It’s so humbling.
Everlast was the rapper in House Of Pain. Jump Around is a classic.
When this came out it was so different! I knew him from his time in House of pain and then years later he did this and it blew me away!
Whitey Ford 💥🔥
This song is in rotation on my playlist. So good all these years later.
This whole album is a masterpiece; this song is great but it's also just the tip of an iceberg of awesome.
I always felt the most impactful lin in this song is “where it ends usually depends on where you start “ which can have different meanings in and of itself
I dont think another song ever stayed at #1 on my local radio stations countdown longer than this one did. A classic
Your comparison to "sound of silence" was spot on, I never thought to link the two. You are right.
I don't trust anybody who's never struggled.
Everlast has been one of my favorite rappers from the 90s that fate tried to take away, but failed. The evolution from "Jump Around" to where he is now, which is a WAY further evolution from this song, is amazing.
I live in, and am surrounded by a jaded, cynical, hater filled, mean spirited, hurtful world. We all get crusty and grizzled over time due to the nature of our paths and encounters. But the easiest thing to do is focus on the worst. Can't we be a builder of spirits instead a destroyer or shamer of others' realities? Whenever my Son leaves the house I tell him "Go Be Awesome".
This is a song that had a true and lasting impact on who I am as a person.
Such a good song. The words are right on!! Yes..⭐💗
There should never be a stigma for single mothers.
I was a single mother even when I was married. Dont get married even if you get pregnant. It just ends in resentment. It hurts the kid who wasnt planned...it hurts you when you have tried to do the 'right' thing...
You just must check out the album!!!
Good stuff man I promise!❤
I’ve listened to this since my 20s and I’m 56 lol they are pretty cool
Always blows my mind when I think about this being the rapper who sings Jump Around. Going from House of Pain to Everlast is a wild transition.
I love jump around too...and this song as well and I'm 64! I try to keep up with all good music over the years but nothing compares with baby boomer rock songs...
When this song came out in ‘98 this type of message wasn’t nearly as common as it is now.
This track has a special place in my heart. You never know what someone has been through in their journey in life.
I like lyrics that make u think. The beat for me helps to frame the message.
Thanks for reacting to this. Have always loved this tune as it resonates so well with situations that we observe/encounter on a regular basis. This is by far my favourite reaction channel!
such a great powerful song. Kinda bluesy hip hop rock vibes
POWERFUL SONG ON THE REALITIES OF LIFE AND TREATMENT OF OUR FELLOW BEINGS.
That thing that spins around is mesmerizing
Ages ago, saw Everlast in concert on a tour with Cree Summer, the Black Crowes and Lenny Kravitz, and he was not feeling well and not in the best mood. He made it through his set but his song hit different that day lol.
Excellent editing and very well articulated definitely worth a sub. ✌️😁
Thanks bro, been carrying this message for a long time. I come back to it to remind myself. Nice job brother!
Haven't even watched the video yet and has to thumbs up this one. Just because this song is fire and I think Polo will totally dig it.
My brother passed away a few years ago. He had a long history of drug addiction. I used to pay his rent and his bills and got accused of supporting his problem. I didn't want him roaming the streets, unsafe and with nowhere to go and feeling nobody cared. I would do it again, in a minute. I would do anything to have him back again. He was kind and loving. But he had a problem. It made him do some things that weren't cool, but he wasn't a bad person. SOME people said the same things about him "he was an addict... What did you expect would happen to him?"
He was still a good person. He was still my brother. RIP Diego! No te olvidare.
❤ this message, be a better human each day you're blessed to be here.
What a song. Great tune. Beat is incredible. Toe tapping
If I'm not mistaken, this song was used in the Saving Grace series. A good show with the same message. Don't judge until you walk in someone else's shoes.
Yep your not mistaken
I love the strong, deep vocals of this song.
I really love this song, and yes, it's all about the lyrics. They hit hard. Another similar song by him is White Trash Beautiful.
poetic compassion .. every person is every person ... its all abouy remembering ...
“Saving Grace” is a great song by him. He’s like nobody else.🔥🤘🏻😎
When he played at Bogart's in Cincinnati back in '92 or '93 my buddy was a sound engineer for monitor sound and got me backstage. About halfway through rehearsal earlier in the day he pulled me over to the side and said Everlast needs to get a little weed do you know where to find some? I said sure let me go cop on that so in about an hour later I was handing it to him! We all sat around with the bong got real good and toasted then went out to do sound check.
One of my favourite songs!❤
When you're going through it, this song can bring you to tears. Seriously
THANK YOU FOR BEING REAL in a day & age of Fake!
BANGER....and under rated
Official video has powerful imagery.
Since you're checking out Everlast, I recommend "So Long" as well...along the same lines as "Jeremy" by Pearl Jam...dark, sad, and a powerful message.
Just like the Sound Of Silence, this song can have an impact on many generations. Great message! Song is decent and the delivery is great.
This song was played on the radio non stop when it came out. still hear it every now and then
I loved this song "then" and I love it just as much now 💜
Everlast -So Long. From the End of days soundtrack is a banger
Been waiting for one of my sub channels to hit this band. Had this cd way back and spun it tons and always enjoyed the laid back feel of this one
Perhaps a little deeper life is a myriad of situations, trials & tribulations & until one goes through such its hard to really understand exactly what one may feel or go through but yes perhaps trying to understand or having empathy as you said what would the world truly be if there was none of that. It can be a good thing but also a bad in some situations but again that is life the human situation and that Is what it is which is someone a must ultimately learn. Acceptance of that is part of it a as well. Its the good and the bad but its getting that and knowing neither good or bad times is never permanent and having faith & hope in the gift life xan be is what gets you through. Appreciating and understanding both I feel is where you find peace in what time you're given
Same. And I almost never buy this type of music. But I listened to this one daily.
Loving this song for a long time now!
Absolutely great tune. Serious messaging to take with you for life.
Give St Paul and the Broken Bones Tiny Desk Concert a listen Polo, right up your street. Love from UK. Love your channel!
Basically...STOP JUDGING OTHERS!!!💜💜🎶🎼🎵🥁🎧🎸🎤🎹🎹🔥🤘🤘 Truly a moving song!!
People judge every day. I don't know where this "stop judging" came from, i think it came up because of a quote from the bible..the problem is people (like always), take it out of context and try to apply it to where it's convenient for them. "...people use this verse in an attempt to silence their critics, interpreting Jesus’ meaning as “You don’t have the right to tell me I’m wrong.” " The bible DOES NOT say to not judge as a blanket statement, if this were true we could never call out people who do wrong...bullies, thieves, rapists, cheaters and everything in between.
@@kayakuprising5914 i was simply referring to the meaning of the song. Not need to lecture!!!😉😉🎶🎼🎵🤘🤘
Ive had this on my playlist for like a decade man. I maybe play it 2-5 times a year at most because its a mood song for me. But its permanently sticking around.
You should check out the official video. It's pretty good and kind of adds to the lyrics.
Actually for the time it came out the song was mind blowing because it was the lead rapper from House of Pain and I don't think to this day a rapper has crossed over with as much style as this. can't think of one really. You can here the dj part in the background but other than that, this was a full crossover to folk, blues, soft rock and the lyrics were solid. The music video was key for the time as well as it did a good job acting out the lyrics instead of trying to be wildly artistic or confusing. The audio on the version you listened to drops off in quality the last half too so that doesn't help. House of Pain 'Jump Around' has to be top 10 hip hop tracks ever ever as it is literally timeless. Reaction channels never go down a House of Pain rabbit hole for whatever reason but their first album doesn't have a bad song on it and second has a few bangers. Your reaction is fine but left me feeling compelled to give Everlast his dues. He's at the very least underrated.
Everlast is the MC from the hip-hop group House of Pain. This is his first solo project.
As a huge House of Pain fan (since 1992) back in the day this was absolutely the banger (!) on repeat when it came out in 1998.
Everlast still making music. He put out a song a couple years ago called “Slow Your Roll”. He looks different , even sounds quite a bit different , but the song and video are pretty dope 🔥🔥🔥
Such a great song 😍
That thing in the background is amazing I love it
Many messages below, however, this one always hits. He was the lead singer for House of Pain & then things went to another place. This entire album is worth listening to. One of his others is 'Ends'. Thanks for sharing.
That first one, didn't give much when I was younger. Now, when "they" are at the grocery store I give. I give when asked at the Walmart when I check out. Something about it brings me closer to God. They "are" God.
Check out his acoustic version of Jump Around. And his version of Folsom Prison Blues set to a rap beat.
I agree with your summation of this piece of music.
Everlast has some amazing songs. Check out 'lonely Road' from the 'White Trash Beautiful' CD. One of my favorites, but there are many others.
Always loved this song❤❤
Same artist that sang “jump around” if you didn’t know. He also has a great track with Santana called Put your lights on.
Another great song by everlast is
i get by
OG.
Everlast is my man!
The video's worth watching. Definitely adds to the song.
This was a good anthem back in the day in Detroit
Disturb does a powerful version of sound of silence
There by the Grace of God!!❤❤
Excellent song
I love Everlast❤❤❤❤
I love that song.
The singer of this song was the rapper for the group house of pain they had a big hit called jump around.
I love this song
Fun fact, Everlast is/was a member of "House of Pain", who is widely known for the song "Jump Around".
I totally forgot about this song with powerful lyrics. Thanks for the reminder.
This one always reminds me of Ralph McTell's Streets of London
My favorite song
Great artist, he was also a member of House of Pain,”Jump”
A good song for these times is Castles by Tom Macdonald… one of his older works but great meaning.
