*Grandson lives out from town on 18 acres and the **Latest.Bike** is great on trails through the woods, on gravel driveway, and through the yard. Keeps them active. Thanks Easter Bunny*
I put a cheap zoom up and down post on my road bike the difference is like night and day . the hard ride is now much more comfortable.
Suspension seat post is a must in my book. The more comfortable ride the longer distance you can go.
I have the Redshift post with a Bikeroo polymer spring seat on my Juiced RCS ST. I ride about ten miles every morning, and at 73 with a bunch of stuff starting to fail with my body, I wanted comfort and that`s what I got.
I've owned the Redshift one for months now (on my Rad Mini) and LOVE IT ! Well worth the cost and it's very smooth in it's movements.
I purchased the REDSHIFT Suspension seat post and wow it really makes rough single tracks and washboard dirt roads much nicer on the Gluteus Maximus. I highly recommend it.
Great explanation, thanks! Definite must for hardtail commuter setup. I also want to try the Kinekt, but am very happy with the NCX so far. Suntour makes good stuff and good value.
The Kineckt is amazing!
I've been using kinekt seat posts for a few years, first on my regular road bikes and now on my ebikes. ... even at 220 lbs they adjust perfectly and give a great ride without any ridiculous bouncy feeling.
RedShift Seatpost, yay or nay?
yey
Yay
Does it come in a 26.8?
Definitely yay! I have the stem on my gravel bike. I’m going to get another for my e-bike commuter and the seat post as well.
Yay
I added the least expensive spring seat post I could find for my VoltBike Yukon 750 and I found it a significant improvement. That being said, I am now interested in upgrading to one with the arc motion. Thanks for the info.
yeah me too
I love my suspension seat post! I have the Rad Post, I'm heavy & it helps SO MUCH😁👍👍
Absolutely awesome video. Anyone that has worked in a bike shop is annoyed by most low end suspension posts on hybrid bikes. I am surprised you did not mention The Thud Bustet, but that Suntour seems to be the best value.
I’ve been researching seat posts. Thanks for the info Kyle.
Your usual thorough and fair coverage
I've heard so many good things about the Redshift seat post and also their handlebar damper. Not sure I can stretch to both, but I'm definitely thinking about it!
Have the Redshift seat post suspension for my ebike. Love, love, love it!
I am glad you included the
*PNW Coast DropperSuspensionPost* as a *'TrendBlender'* of sorts...
I have never gotten around to Grafting my favorite Suspension SeatPost, a *CaneCreek ThudBusterLT* with the *LONGer Travel* parallelogram mechanics, to the top of my favorite DropperSeatPost...
The PNW Coast has been close enough for me...
One thing I found with the Suntour that you didn't cover is that the angle of the seat plays a major role in how the suspension reacts. I find that the angle of seat determines where your weight is placed when pedaling. Tilted up well at the front is best for me, and that arrangement is where I can feel the back and forth movement the most. I am going to buy a comfort seat with less nose to see if that works even better. Currently I have the Velo Plush
I didn't know how much the Suntour was helping until I took the Suntour off to see where the creaking was coming from and rode without the suspension post for a test. Then I noticed how hard the ride was compared to what I had become accustomed to. It was very curious. After several goings over, I believe the creaking came from the seat itself being worked more than usual and getting loosened up just a touch. I finally got rid of the creaking after slight adjustment and then hard tightening down of the seat, so I imagine that was the problem. None of the other things I did including cleaning and greasing everything, even washing the little cover for the Suntour, nothing got rid of the creaking until I re-fixed the seat clamp itself. I had even removed the rubber coverings on the seat springs to clean in there.
Still, I'm not 100% sure, because I'm relying on "after this, came that" reasoning.
Thank you! I have been thinking about a suspension seat post. Your video has really helped.
Yes! The one for the handle bars, too!
Once again, Great Video! I was just considering a purchase of a Suspension Seat Post. In fact, I ordered one, Satori Animaris 27.2mm with 30.4mm adapter. Fits my Himiway. Thanks Kyle..
Great overview of the posts. I’ve been using the SR Suntour with our 2018 RadWagon’s my wife and I are riding now. They definitely have helped smooth some of the bumps. They will not handle the big ones, but most are the small bumps... Now I’d like to replace the front forks with a shock fork...
Satori
I know that At 63 I am a prime target for theft. Thank you for your over view on locks.
So many places have the sold out sign on the bike page. Your lucky to have all them bikes in stock. They must be flying off the shelf. Best of luck 👍sir.
It’s real a warm and comfortable feeling to see so many bicycles together.
Looking forward to the review of the Shockstop stem!
I've been thinking about switching to a rigid fork (which is shorter) on my Blackbird and getting a Shockstop stem. I had already entered Redshift's giveaway.
i have a 20in fat tire, front suspension / hard tail. bought a cheap $30 up & down suspension seat post and it works wonders.
best up grade ever ! smooths out many of the small to medium rough spots. works better for lighter riders - 220lb+ the spring is almost completely compressed as soon as you sit on it.
I went from a full suspension to a hard tail bike. The first thing I did is buy the Suntour. I swear it is just as comfortable as having rear suspension!
I just got a Suntour for my hard tail bike also. A gamechanger!
Interesting idea. I plan to get one for my E-bike.
They can be expensive! I've seen some models in the $250-$275 range!
I have a nice expensive suspension seatpost on my radrunner. Which has no suspension on the bike at all, so now i can't live without it
@@karmuppet just picked one up this weekend
I put a PNW coast air suspension dropper on my Blackbird and you get the dropper plus the suspension, works great.
While running my e-fat bike tires at lower pressure I was noticing that higher frequency vibration from ice and gravel chunks was making my ride uncomfortable under these conditions. Much to my surprise the Satori Animaris suspension seat the (parallelogram version) worked well to remove the vibration without any noticable pogo stick type bounce.
Thank you very much I ordered the sun tour NCX seat post from you It's very comfortable and thank you for all the UA-cam videos you've made there very helpful I'm a very happy customer 😎
YO YO KINEKT 2.1 is a great one protects spine ! Worth investing in protecting your back and more comfortable on long rides
Thanks for the seat post information
I very much enjoy your videos and appreciate all of your advice and knowledge.
That is an interesting bike. Can't wait to see the test ride.
Thank you for your videos. They have been very helpful to me.
Yes, I would like to see Bolton ebike to be a 1 stop shopping site as best as possible. Maybe even earn credits with purchases?
convinced and with the few endorsements below -
just purchased one ........ many many thanks
You should always stand when going over large bumps, even on dual suspension bikes. Its a good way to bend rims if you don't.
Just curious why is that? Isn’t the weight the same either way? Or am I missing something
@@Noodlessssss Your legs and arms are the best suspension there is, standing up takes a lot of strain off the rest of the bike.
Standing up over big bumps also lowers your centre of gravity to the level of the pedals, giving you more stability and control.
@@larrybowers64 Precisely opposite:
Centre of gravity is where centre of mass is, and if you lift your butt from the saddle you're moving both higher.
If you want lower centre of gravity, you need to get your butt closer to ground. (= dropper seatpost)
@@tuunaes I think he meant to say it centres the weight on the pedals, between the tires so neither one holds the full weight (whereas when you sit most of your weight is on the rear tire).
I highly recommend the Satori Animaris suspension seat post. I paid ~$80 for mine about a year ago, but they seem to be in very short supply nowadays. I also own a Cane Creek Thudbuster ST for ~$100; it's okay, but not nearly as plush as the Satori.
*CaneCreek ThudBusterLT* SeatPost is a *LONGer Travel* parallelogram SeatPost...
One of my favorites...
@@NoFretBrettCSSMBFF I have to second the Thudbuster, it's a great post. Not cheap, but mines over 15 years old, maybe more, and still going strong.
I have the sun tour and it’s great!
Great insightful video!
I have been using the Sunture NCX on my EMTB for years. Best upgrade you'll ever do on a hard tail MTB. Electric or not. On a none electric bike it will add wright to the bike though. Not so important on an electric bike.
thanks for the review. Do you have any recommendations on comfy, not overly large cush seats? thanks again and keep up the great work.
I have the Kinekt 2.1 suspension seatpost. It's more expensive than the other ones, but probably better. I wouldn't go without it now that I have it.
Next time you evaluate suspension seatposts, I would appreciate it if you would include the simple sprung wire suspension that fits an ordinary seatpost.
I have the red shift seat post and I love it.
Yes, I would recommend you to add redshift suspension products to your product line!
I have tried different $30 suspension seat posts and I believe that you get what you pay for. I already bought my Redshift Suspension Seat Post. It was quite expensive, but the quality and ride is great. I wish that it would be cheaper, then I would purchase more. I’m 6’2” 235 pounds and it works for me! I haven’t tried their suspension stem yet, but I’m interested. So start offering their line of suspension upgrades. They know what they’re doing, in my opinion!
Good timing, had to change seat on my new bike yesterday, and since it is hardtail and 700c.. it needs something. I had a 26" MTB before, had to take the seat from that but it is not optimal.
Hmm.. i need to change also the handlebar, how to choose one is my next quest.. also, the bike i bought is Accolmile, there aren't any reviews of the 700c model in youtube, it is now under 1k price range.
The “cheap” one I got which is called zoom is the best investment I’ve made for my e-bike
Good vid. Owner of a BB, waiting for the Suntour seat post from Bolton.
Absolutely Kyle, I would like to purchase one.
I am only 5'2", and at 68 years old I would love to have a suspension post. My knees are not so good at getting me off the seat when hitting bumps in the road. Come on bike manufacturers; don't forget us shorter folks who need help.
The most important interface between a rider and the bike is the saddle. It's not a seat. It's a saddle, and should be emphasized as such. There is a reason there are sooo many different saddles out there. The main reason is that the vast majority of them hurt like hell after a few miles or more.
You seatpost won't help that much for most people who are having discomfort because they have a saddle that doesn't work for them.
My question is: Why haven't more people tried Brooks saddles? There's one for just about everyone and every type of riding. Touring riders use a lot of them for good reasons: They work, by conforming to the rider's individual shape, they wick away moisture that is the main cause of hot spots and soreness, they last for many years.
Most of these Ebikes are just modified "comfort cruisers" , not meant for long rides, but rather, for frequent shorter rides. I recommend the Brooks B-67, a perfect saddle that has shock absorbing coil springs and a full width support geometry for the semi-upright posture that these bike are designed for. By the time some one goes through several failed vinyl saddles and then buys a suspension seatpost, they will have far exceeded the cost of a Brooks B-67.
No. I'm not a schill for Brooks, but I have a crate full of failed plastic, carbon, vinyl "seats" that were supposed to be the Thing. A couple or more "suspension" seatposts, too. Maybe I should use them all for yard art.
Sounds like it would make a ride even better.👍🏼😎🚴🏻♀️
I do wonder how this stacks up to a full suspension bike. Great video!
Have you ever done a video covering coverings? I was contemplating a faring/windscreen/rain cover addition for my ebike. The rainy season is about to start here in the NW and this is my first year back into bicycling for ages. And, considering I mainly commute to work and want to be dry.
I’m sorry,,, But nothing beats the two good old fashioned springs they invented 90 years ago! Hit a pot hole @ 40mph you’ll understand why it’s the greatest in comfort👍🏼
🔴 My brother already knew about your shop before I did, he did not know your website is all fixed up now yet though!!! I wish I was not too heavy for the suspension seat post!!!
looks good
If shaving weight off your ride is important. Cane Creek make a carbon suspension post. About a third of the weight of the Suntour. It's also 3 times the price. You do get what you pay for in this case.
Red shift looks great I would like to add one to my new bike
It looks great I am older guy and need a softer saddle I live in South Africa
Is it possible to get one with the video's sound effects so you know it is working properly ;-)
My mountain bike is my totem. I run a sus post on my hardtail. They are great.
lol, never thought about the added height! got a very expensive one (for me at least 350 or so) and added it to my XL Trek Allant 8s + and man that extra 2-3 inches makes it uncomfortable getting on and off as well as when stopped
def makes it more comfortable riding but i may just got back to a regular post
Do you think that having the seat post absorb the small hits are better than your knees absorbing them? So, if you could choose between standing and sitting, would you still sit through a bumpy area?
Any update on shipping - been waiting a long time for my Foxbat. thx
Good video!
Please speak about inexpensive etrikes for mobility impaired seniors. I want in on this rrvolution
I have e cells Monarch 1000 I write it as often as possible the only slight disappointment is the rear suspension is a little stiff and I have issues with vertebrae problems in my upper back so pain usually ensues after a long ride that is why I'm considering a suspension post even though I already have Bruce suspension.. I'm definitely not giving up riding and I have one of the best e-bikes on the planet but I also would like something that can raise and lower without having to get off the bike and making adjustments what do you recommend ?
I have the RedShift. Works as advertised for this 230 lbs guy..
I just bought an Aventon adventure step through. Will a suspension seat post help even with fat tires or should I consider a different saddle or both. I weigh 140 lbs …thx KT
Think twice before trimming the bike frame to lower the seat. Will it hit the battery ?
My 20? year old Titec Berserkr K Ti (re-covered) is just that much better than the average seat. It’s the ti rails. I tried the same Titec with cromo rails....had it a few days before it went on Craigslist.
So about the Suntour, can you lower it all the way to the mech ? I’d like to keep my saddle under 5” from from top of seat tube.
Sorry if not on topic Butt (play on words to honor the current subject matter) my curiosity is engine size. My Swagtron EB 5 pro plus weighs around 37 lbs and I'm a heavier rider at about 5'8". I keep reading how a 250 Watt motor doesn't have they power to get me up hills. However my neighborhood/town has its fair share of hills some long and for the most part gradual for the a fair distance then coming to its peak a far more sharp area per climb for a relatively short distance. Then there are the just steal but not all that long hills. The thing being one of those short but steal hills my bike tackled when contemptuous ease no pedal assist just throttle. So what is your verdict on a 250 watts motor performance with hills? Larger being better a given.
today's bike is beautiful with internal hub.
Which one do you recommend for a heavier rider (240-260 lbs)?
I vote yes - you should stock the Redshift. Question: I am about 290 lbs. Will it handle my weight?
Yes i think you should carry the redshift seat posts
What about for light riders - under 60kgs? What would you recommend? Short travel or long travel? I have looked at sun tour and also the cane creek thud buster- the latter significantly more expensive than the former. I am also a bit short in the leg so concerned about the fit of the post and size of the suspension mechanism will mean I am on tiptoes even more when at a standstill.
Thanks.
Congratulations
Can you link to one where the suspension is either at top or any other as the correct seatpost I have is at lowest point so I can have any additional height...
Kyle, I have a Aventon Sinch and the size is 25.4 mm x 380 mm 6 degrees. I purchased a cloud 9 seat and now I’d like to get a Suntour SP ncx. But I can’t find one to fit my e-bike, and I don’t know if the cloud 9 will even fit on this bike?
The raised seat post height became a dealbreaker for my girlfriend’s bike frame.
Hi Mike, I have the Aventon Adventure. Can you recommend a suspension seat post for my bike? Not finding a 30.4mm by 350mm length post. Was thinking about the Suntour the Redshift might be a little to much but then like you say you get what you pay for. Is this something Bolton could supply? Thanks Dave...
You will need to a Shim adaptor 27.2 to 30.4mm. Amazon has them in stock.
Just ordered Lectric XPremuim and ordered a 31.6mm Suntour NCX and found out its wrong size Lectric says its a 30.4mm . So what can be done to make Suntour work would i need to purchase a 27.2mm and purchase a seatpost sleeve Cane Creek .ST27306 Seatpost Shim, 27.2 I.D. TO 30.6 O.D. ?
Please post the SunTour on your site.
While you are riding on bumps:
If you look on your bike staying on the ground, you are right.
But if you are sitting on the bike, the wheel goes strait up and down, because you are moving with the same speed as your bike, and your wheel. Am I wrong?
I wish you would have talked about the weight limitation on these seat post.
Is a redshift suspension seat post needed for a bike that already has rear suspension?
Amazon has the Suntour suspension post for $70 Considering the Zoom is like $30 I think it's worth the diff in price.
Omg the cheapest one on Amazon was $87. June 2024. No rear shocks on my e bike so I bought one.
I can rember the brand name .. my up /down seat post .. ; had a nice stiff spring .. It worked . $40 ?
redshift is pricey but suntour is budget-friendly
What seat suspension would you recommend for the Magicycle Ocelot Pro?
YAY!
