      Friend of mine had one back in the 1980's. You sat real high in those, like a Jeep. Wasn't anyplace that little car couldn't go.
      Great vehicle.

    I owned this model: 1991 Geo Tracker ragtop in black. It was an absolute blast to drive around town in the sun.
    The downside was that 80hp gets you nowhere quickly, and it's so light that I did not feel safe driving in heavy winds.
    Still miss it sometimes though...

    I had a lifted 98 TJ and a stock tracker at the same time. I sold the Jeep. I liked the tracker much more, funner to drive, better fuel mileage, better ride, more reliable, and fit on way more trails the jeep couldn't go. Also, I did't have the same 5 mall crawler jeep people waving to me a work every morning. The stickers are right, It's a jeep thing and I don't understand.

      No crap, I had a 77 cj7 , I wanted to flip people the bird when they would "jeep wave" at me it their jku four door minivan , freaking pink accents and angry eye headlights, if my great grandfather was a flat fender war hero and someone put me on lowpro fake mud tires on 26s and painted my frame purple I'd probably look mad too😂

      I had a YJ and tracker at the same time, the tracker literally does do everything better. Nicer interior, double the mpg, way better road manners, better gearbox, better top setup, way smaller and better in tight trails. It's just better at everything.

    Hey TFL thanks for the inspiration for my latest video. You guys just introduced this thing to thousands of people who never heard of ithem and now you guys probably increased their value. They were already on their way up in value. The one I bought was listed at $10,999 and I talked them down to $7000. I made a video showing my Tracker and talking about you guys increasing their value even more.

    I learned to drive on a 1994 manual Pontiac Sunrunner in Quebec and it was the best!!! People don’t understand how much kids who had access to one back in days loved them. I now drive a Wrangler very similar to Tommy’s because I adore Jeeps, but also because it’s the closest thing to the Sunrunner…

    A former girlfriend of mine had one of these. We lived on the coast in SC & it was the perfect little beach buggy! What a blast! Nathan would love one of these, since he’s such a Sami fan😆. To answer your question, Suzuki did import these to the states as the Sidekick. There used to be a Suzuki dealership in Savannah, Ga & I remember a lot of them on the lot.

    Nice, my first car was a 94 4dr sidekick that I got for 800 bucks. That thing got me through high school and college. Fun little truck but it was ridiculously underpowered. I live in the Sf bay area and I didn’t feel it had the power to make it up the elevation gain to the Lake Tahoe area where I do a lot of camping and fishing. I sold it and upgraded to a 2006 4wd Toyota Sequoia which I absolutely love. These little sidekick/trackers will always have a place in my heart. They are fun, cheap, small and capable suvs, something that isn’t made anymore.

    Kentucky comment here. Some of my family owns a boat shop, and probably 10 years ago, they took a 2 door Sidekick in on trade for something. Looked exactly like the Tracker, but it was indeed a Suzuki Sidekick. I was actually going to wind up having that as my first vehicle, but something else came up. Great video Tommi , THE GEO TRACKER, boy did i sell /lease almost 200 of these in my career with GM Canada and also drove them in Manitoba winters, the Suzuki Sidekick was the same vehicle platform , they got a few more options than the Tracker and did offer a slightly different engine, if memory serves me correctly the difference was a 16 valve head on them the rest of the internals were the same, for the North American market they were all built in a plant in Ontario Canada side by side on 2 separate assembly lines, it was a joint venture between Gm and Suzuki, this was how Suzuki first got there cars built in North America to avoid the huge import duties on cars, this is when the old Samurais were no longer sold in North America as of 1986/87, the Tracker is a super capable little 4x4, i drove one every winter i worked in the industry and it always started no matter how cold and had fantastic heat, the one option the Sidekick got the Tracker didn't was a heated seat option, i don't remember the year, i never found it to be a problem, they just had great heaters and they would handle snow bumper deep and water of the depth and i did this many times with my demos, LOL, I spent tons of dollars at the carwash to remove any mud or grass from the bottom of it😂,, good times/memories, maybe I'll look for one this winter while i am giving my old Volvo some long over do love in the body/paint dept, 👍

      Chevy should re introduce the Tracker as a bare bones affordable 4x4 offering and call it the OG Tracker. "OG" would be a wink and a nod to "Geo" and would GOAT it at the same time. If done right they could make it as timeless and classic as the Geo Tracker. The problem with this idea is government safety regulations would make it have to be 20% larger and fill it with computers people (me) don't want. You can tell I've actually put some thought into this over some time. I daily a Tracker lol

    FYI- It was available as a Suzuki Sidekick as a 2 door in the US back in the 90’s. Then GM started selling it as a Tracker. GM even made a ZR2 version of it.

    • @gypsonny2

      It was not one sold then the other, it was both selling at the same time. I drive an '89 Tracker, the first model year. Prior to '89 Suzuki sold the Samurai in the states.

    • @CarnutMM
      @CarnutMM 2 роки тому

      @@gypsonny2 the Sidekick first started in 1988. Then GM sold it in 1989. The Sidekick came about after consumer reports wrote an article about how the Samurai had a tendency to lift a wheel when pushed to its limits at higher cornering speeds. The Sidekick was wider and lower to counter this. Then they phased away the Samurai by 1995.
