I remember an earlier video when you recommended cutting the mango at that initial point, you can see the benefit of the strategy, just looking at your trees in the garden. Although I find germinating mango seeds easy, I get them to the second level of leaves and usually lose them. Most of my trees fail at around 9 months old, so I haven't been brave enough to try the technique yet. I will definitely try it with my latest mango seedling, which appears much stronger that others that I have grown. The location here is not suitable for mangoes, but I can't resist growing them indoors. I would love to have successes like your trees! Thanks and take care, Vox.
I am sorry to know that your mango seedlings do not survive beyond a few months. You can try pruning even on 1-2 year old trees, by that time they become strong enough to take on the shock . Keep the plants in full sun and protect your seedlings from winter. Spray some neem oil to protect them from insects. Good Luck!
Very useful video. I shall use your method on my mango tree.
So nice of you
Thanks, I will try this on my indoor orange tree.

Great tutorial video, very informative 👌👍🎄🍇🍋🥭
Thanks. You are welcome.
just to be sure it can be done to mango trees that can be grow to large size right I planted a seed I wan to know ahead of time I want to seed if at a certain height as I'm disable and would I not have to worry about the trunk getting big?
You should not worry about the trunk size. The aim should to grow many branches to make it bushy so that the tree can grow at the tips of each branch.
Very informative video
Thanks, you are welcome.

Welcome.
Thank you for this great video! My tree is still a baby, I cut the main branch at 8 inches and it grew 2 branches there, another branch about an inch below and 2 more about 1.5 inches below that...do I cut those off and only leave the 2 that grew from the top ?
Keep all the branches. Cut them again when they grow to about 10 inches long.
Nice videos, very informative.
I have a question, we live in South Florida and we purchased a potted Keitt mango tree that was about 3 feet tall and it was left unattended in the pot for about 8 months and it grew real tall, approx. 7 feet, unfortunately my case is different to your example because you show in the video a much smaller plant, pruned when it is young to a height of six to ten inches.
My tree has no low branches, only a single long stem and only branches on the very top; because we have a small area assigned for this tree we wouldn’t want to have a tall large tree; how can I prune it to get lower branches and keep it small?
May I do a drastic cut of the stem at 3 feet or so and still get it to branch out or am I going to destroy it?
Thank you in advance.
Thanks, you liked the video. Last year I pruned one 7, 8 year old old mango tree at about 6 feet height, which has now grown 6 branches all over the trunk. I think you can cut the tree at its middle, I hope the tree will grow many branches. But it will not produce fruits in next couple of years. You may transplant the tree into ground if you have space, otherwise transplant it in a very big pot. Good luck.
@@GardenTricks Thank you so much !!!
🙏👍👌😀🙏thanks

I have a question, when it says "spreay pest oil on flowers to increase pollination" does that mean neem oil?
No not Neem oil. Buy pest oil from garden shop or mix 1 ml vegetable/canola oil in 1 l water and a few drops of liquid soap in water and spray.
@@GardenTricks I asked because there are many types of "pest oil" some that can killed the plant if it's not the right type. Thanks for the recipe, not that I would spray "canola oil" mostly GMO in the US, to anything. I checked, neem oil can be used to kill pests, same as olive oil. The liquid soap can be uses with either one.
@@carmenortiz5294 use only a dilute solution as suggested. Do not spray in hot sun.
Can a fully grown 25+ years mango tree can be prun??
You should not prune a fully grown mango tree, it will not grow any fruit on the cut branches for 1 or 2 seasons. However, you can cut the tall branches going straight up as the fruit grows on branches growing side ways.
I am trying to lessen height of this tree for me to be able to protect the flowers from rain
Good luck.
Can I use coconut oil to make pestoil ?
Yes, you may try.
Thanks
@@rajarajeshwarikainthaje173 You are welcome.
After cutting the mango tree in the middle, should I keep it in shade or full sun ?
Full sun as usual.
Sir, is this possible to keep mango tree in terrace garden. Pls suggest the container size to keep in terrace and pls put video abt insects and other issues in growing mango tree. Thanks in advance
I am growing mango trees in pots and they are growing well and producing fruits also. In the pot, the tree will become dwarf after some time, you have to change the soil after 3-4 years. You should take the maximum possible pot size, may be more than 50 cm in diameter and height. You can start with smaller pots and transfer the plant in bigger one when you see the roots coming from the bottom holes. I will make a video on mango diseases, but I have discussed on one common mango tree disease, black spot disease in this video

Thank u sir.
What happens if my my mango tree is already 5 feet tall, can I still do it.
If the trunk is very mature, then you should prune the branches only. But if the trunk is green and youg, you can prune it also.
I have a question if the tree is 13 inch tall now can we pron it
Yes, you can prune it now.
Ok
Is it ok if we keep the plant in pink colour pot
Yes, no problem.
@@GardenTricks thank you
Should we place it in pot?/
Not necessary. You can prune the tree in pot or growing in ground.
I had pruned my mango tree grown from seed at 9 inches (approx.) but got only one branch. Why is it so?
Thanks
I don't know why it happens sometimes. I again pruned such tree below the new branch to get more branches.
Sir, today I bought mundappa mango and it is polyembryonic mango right ?
Yes. It should produce more than one seedlings.
When the seed germinates and produces seedlings, please inform me for further instructions.
@@GardenTricks ok sir
@@GardenTricks sir, today it is germinated
@@Ramesh.I Congrats. Let the seedlings grow for at least a month or so to become stronger. Then separate the all and plant separately, discard the one seedling that is weak and looks different.
Also my tree gets dry after every 3 to for days should I water it regularly if it is plant in a pot pot and do we need to separate two plants if it is grown in one pot but different stems and plant
You should separate the two plants. Water daily as the plant is in a pot and the pot becomes very hot in summer. Water if the top 1 inch soil becomes dry. Insert your finger in the pot 1 inch deep, and Water if the finger is dry.
@@GardenTricks ok
@@GardenTricks there are white bubble like texture between stem and branch what is it?
I feel worried if it is infected
@@angelicgirl19430 Spray a solution of neem oil.
Please answer I am waiting for your answer
Most important thing, I hope you have taken the cuttings from a polyembryonic mango type or a fruiting tree.
How does it work?
All plants branch out when their stems are cut. So when the stem of a mango tree is pruned, it grows 2 to 4 new branches, this way you can make a mango tree dense, keeping its height small.
How big should the tree be to do so? Because I think I have a dwarf Mango and a normal one. They are about 6 months old and 18 and 8 inches tall. And how long does it take to re-grow?
@@michaelkovacev6108 At any stage, but you may start when the mango tree is about 1 foot high. The new growth emerges within a few weeks in the growing season.
Thanks, sir!
I am in summer, is this the growing season for mangos? I don't know a lot about them. I just grew them from seed.
That is I prun my marijuana trees.
Thanks for info.
@GardenTricks what fruit trees that can be trimed to about 5 to 6 ft tall and produce tasty fruit?
Very good. Tall trees, lose 50% of fruits
You are welcome.
