We begin our journey with “Evil” Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang after a robbery goes horribly wrong causing them to have to flee from the western town of Blackwater with federal agents and the best hunters eager to collect the bounty on their heads. Blood orphan Mary gives Arthur the ring and a photograph of both them when they were young. She sent a letter to Arthur in Chapter 6. I think its cool how they pay homage to Arthur in subtle ways
I’d like to see Red Dead Redemption 1 to be remastered with RDR2 graphics and controls. They could add in a few more things like Arthur being mentioned here and there and John talking more in depth about the gang. They should change the story slightly and have more time with Javier and Dutch.
I feel like Javier was underdeveloped in RDR1 and RDR2 which is disappointing it feels like they focused more on Bill then Javier which I don’t get because Bill is boring and dumb and he gets angry over nothing. Javier is more interesting then Bill

I love how Abigail consistently shits on john, and he takes it with such sarcastic grace. Love these characters.
I'm starting to think that's the norm in long-term relationships. My beloved spends almost every waking moment letting me know how dumb and forgetful I am. Maybe that's why, or maybe because, I take every single chance I get to be snarky with her. From accidentally kicking the cat while sleeping ("Of course the cat doesn't listen to you, you kick the hell out of it") to dying in co-op Minecraft ("Gee, it's like I told you how to play the game and you just flat out ignored me, but you'd NEVER do that, would you, love?"), we paralelled John and Abigale before we even knew they existed. So do my parents.
If John goes to jail they say this to each other.

Arthur had a family before but they died by robbers thats why arthur got angry at John about ignoring his family and thats also why he told uncle that john was the luckiest man.

He was gold hearted but he lived a life of crime that diminished the goodness to the people who only see the outside of his character. People could know the real you but if outsiders don’t know that the how could they really know fro what they were told. Idk dude red dead has the most human stpey out of all fictional figures. Idk seeing stories like this makes me feel hopeful about the human race that there are some of us who know how it is but we can still love our lives in spite of that
Honestly the game has changed my whole outlook on life. After the game i started doing more chores around the house like Arthur at camp or John on the farm, taking extra work hours to make more money like Dutch. Apprrciating a good country song too haha. RDR2 best game ever.
@@uBpGK yes he did live a life of crime, but the game is called red dead REDEMPTION, arthur at the end became good when he knew he was gonna die, helped the native americans, sacrificed his life so that john could have a family, and helped so many people. that doesent escuse what he has done in the past, but shows how he went from a bad person to a good one
@@uBpGK they were in that life out of desperation. They had to feed many people, people that government and rich folk would throw out like trash. They are all outsiders. Don't forget that they used to be different. The way we see the gang in this game ain't the way they used to be. As Hosea says, things changed even before Blackwater. They used to help folk too and only target rich pricks. As the civilization started rapidly expanding, gang started getting desperate. That's why they started working with likes of Strauss. That's why Dutch started getting more insecure and couldn't accept that they will be squashed. Arthur, unlike Dutch, started truly living by their original code by the end of the game. While Dutch abandoned any sense of morality.
From playing red dead 2 i wanted do get tuberculosis it may sound a bit psychotic but it is what it is

Sajirou Plays Eventhough you made this up, John never lost Arthur’s hat in the snow. So either he sold it to fund the Ranch, or he hid it in a lockbox to hide away the past.
Can we just talk about how tragic it is that abigail probably thought, "We have settled down, the west is becoming civilized, and my son is intelligent and loves books. There is no way he will end up a gunslinger." And 7 years later the kid becomes essentially the last great gunslinger in one of the last pockets of old west in the country. It's like having your kid turn 18 in 1945 and thinking they won't have to fight in WW2, and they end up dropping the bomb on Hiroshima.

Jack doesnt become a gunslinger. He kills edgar ross and becomes a writer.
The worst part is that Jack actually became depressed... If you think about it, he really doesn't has no one. When in combat, he quotes: "Go ahead! I got nothin' to live for anyway!".

Even if Arthur is the main protagonist of Red Dead 2, it is still very much John’s story. How he got his scars, how he went from being pretty distant with his family to getting close to them etc.. And what is very beautiful is how much Arthur affected him. Arthur saved him on the mountains, Arthur made sure Jack and Abigail survived, and Arthur did everything he could with his ticking clock that John would survive. Without Arthur, there wouldn’t be no ranch. No normal life for the Marston’s. No second chance.
This game hits you hard at the places you least expect.

I love Uncle as a character in the second game. He may still be a lazy alcoholic with lumbago, but there's a lot of wisdom in that old man, if only you'd take the time to listen for it.
He really is one of the smartest members of the gang, Dutch even calls him out on his jester act and he drops it at one point in a conversation with Pearson where he talks about his childhood. He tries giving John advice a few times throughout the early game as well.
In the first game he was annoying.

The John and Abigail moments make the ending of RDR1 even sadder. And I didn’t know that was possible
Gotta give it to rockstar for they made the best moments in rdr2 on how they handle the relationship between John and Abigail till the events of rdr1
Reaper it’s funny because seeing that there were times where they were genuinely happy is very heartwarming, and good to see, since we as fans want John and Abigail to be happy (both separately and together). But all of that concurrently, like I said, makes RDR1s ending sadder because those moments won’t continue. Like RDR2 gave us a “happily ever after” for them that we already know isnt “ever after”

I think Arthur and Abigail had some history. I remember in the last chapter when Arthur's sick, Abigail said to Arthur "I have you" and then changed her tone followed with "as a friend". And in the first chapter when Abigail went to ask Arthur for helping finding John, Arthur seemed a little unpleased even before Abigail started talking.
Arthur did say he should've married abigail when he had the chance, but mary linton was sorta in the way (he wrote it in his journal)

You have to keep in mind that while for us, Arthurs death just happened so it's still fresh in our minds, but for them, it's been a few years since his death. They've all moved on at this point.

I was actually kind of sad when I ended the game. I spent a lot of the game at camp around the fire with the gang listening to stories and jokes, the story just adds to the effect of family. But at the end, after avenging John and killing Micah, I went and sat at the fire outside of the house and thought about how well the game made me miss the group I traveled around the map with

The entire time I was playing the epilogue I was crying especially when they were living on the ranch. I just kept remembering the scene where Arthur sends John off to safety and then...y'know. I kept wandering around the ranch wondering if Arthur was looking down on them smiling because even if he was gone he saw exactly what it was that he gave John, Abigail and Jack. He gave them a true shot at happiness. At a peaceful life away from the running, hiding, and all the chaos. I just know he was up there laughing his head off at his brother trying to get Uncle to help them build a house. ;-;
I never heard Uncle talk to Abigail about Arthur though. Arthur had a family but they were killed and so it makes perfect sense why he would tell Uncle that about John. I'm going to go cry now.
and those who betrayed arthur and john, they got exactly what they deserved. arthur was a good man underneath the tough skin
I legit burst down crying when John proposes to Abigail. Like, all the tears of sadness I hadn't gotten out of Arthur's death already. It's literally the moment he makes a choice to honor Arthur's sacrifice and choose to honor his wife as well. The moment where everything is technically worth it, because John and Abigail are happy and it's all what Arthur wanted. And that picture of young Arthur and Mary... Jesus, pulled my heart strings way too hard. Arthur sacrificed his life for John and his happiness after having lost it himself... It's just so sad.
One of my favorite interactions after Arthur dies is going to visit the widowed women up north of Annesburg Arthur helps out before he passes away. It’s sweet to know she still remembers Arthur even after 7 years.
And another one is the boy he ran into skipping rocks at the river talking about some girl. Arthur gives him advice to get the girl and when John runs into him years later and the boy married the girl he was after but it turned out she was a horrible wife and he blames Arthur for ruining his life. I found that one real funny. 😂
Do you remember where you came across the widow during the epilogue, because I just tried going back to her place and there is no one there.
Cheng Teoh when I first started playing as John, visiting her was one of the first things I did because I was so curious. When I arrived at her cabin, she was sitting on her porch either writing or reading. I also visited her in the afternoon so maybe her interaction is only during the day

I’m watching this video nearly 10 months after everyone else has finished the game and it gives me so much joy to see how many anonymous people on UA-cam are able to love these characters so much. Rockstar did an amazing thing with this game .
It is a fun game. Too bad there doesn't seem to be a story driven DLC like Undead Nightmare in the near future.
Cheng Teoh I’m actually okay without the DLC. There is so much to do and see in the game already. More might cheapen an already perfect experience. The zombies also wouldn’t fit in the ultra realistic world Rockstar built.
@@ChengTeoh The zombie DLC sucked. Never finished it. It doesn't fit in the lore anyway. Might be nice to have a DLC where one of the other characters life is emphasized.
I love the epilogue. It really made me feel as though I had a wife and son who I need to provide for and keep safe, and that feeling of family only got bigger when Uncle, Charles and Sadie came along.

i did kayaking with a friend last year and i can't swim either like john (im not scared of water, i was just never taught how to lol) but at least my friend knows so it wasn't that scary

I honestly didnt care for Abigail that much in RDR1, I only cared because John did. But after playing RDR2 I have so much more appreciation for Abigail. I keep thinking about the first time I played RDR1, I was stunned at how angry Abigail was when John went back home - then after RDR2 I understood the scene for what it was.

Agreed. I used to always think Bonnie was a better match for John but seeing Abigail in RDR2, especially when he proposes, shows that most of the bickering between them is just how they show they love each other.

I think she is definitely not made to be as interesting as the 'new'characters in RDR2 but that's really just because she isn't 'new' to the series. They spent more time developing her to realistically be a younger woman than the spitfire we met in RD1.

There’s so much more to the “Endless Summer” than most players will ever realize. After finishing the epilogue, if you treat John and his family and ranch like the real thing (doing chores, coming to dinner, going to bed with Abigail, etc.) and continue playing daily, there are lots of little details to discover. This video does a good job of covering many of them, but there’s actually a lot more.

Everyone talks about the main story which is undoubtedly in a league of it's own but I think in the long run I will remember the Epilogue the most. It the most beautiful yet tragic story in video game history in my honest opinion Arthur gives his life so John can live. And in return puts literally everything he has into building a life for the his family and it is destroyed because of past mistakes. Such a fantastic video game.
It is a great game, the only problem I have with it is that there isn't a way to skip certain cutscenes once you've seen it a couple of times already.

It’s heartbreaking that Arthur gave everything to John, but he threw it away by not listening to him. Arthur always said that revenge is a fool’s game and even told John to not look back, but he went after Micah and it cost him everything.
5:42 always brings me such sadness. This is the life John could’ve kept. The life that Arthur sacrificed everything for him to have, all to be ruined by John going for revenge. Agent Ross didn’t know that John Marston was still alive, John’s massacre of the Micah Bell gang left Ross without a big gang arrest. So he was forced to keep looking for some other big bust. If John just listened to Arthur, he could’ve kept his peaceful farm life.

There is no good way to put this but Arthur,John and Dutch all had sex with Abigail.Abagail was the camp whore for a while.Arthur probably treated her with the most respect before he saved her,John and Jack's life.
Well Arthur was the one who held everyone together. He was always busting his ass day in and day out, trying keep everyone fed, bringing in money. Not to mention trying keep everyone's spirits up, with a kind word and a smile. Despite knowing how fucked up everything is. Then there's the whole taking the time out of his daily tasks, to take Jack fishing. There's no doubt that Arthur left quite an impression on everyone, even those who hated him.

He doesn't repeat his father or Arthur's mistakes and apparently writes an American classic most likely about John and the gangs story. If that GTA V Easter egg is Canon at least.

so sad that rockstar will probably ruin this by making it into a franchise and spend less and less time on features like this, I can’t even begin to imagine how much love the developers had to put into this project that made it turn out so amazing with the little side conversations, secret scenes and overall greatness. such a good game.
