Hello! This was a difficult and long project, but i've finally finished it. I've learned a lot and that's the most important part of it. At the end of the video you can hear how the planes works, i love this sound. I'm gonna offer two planes for sale - more info in todays post on my instagram profile (or via email esortodox@gmail.com) I hope you will like it. BTW planemaking bed floats video on the way. Cheers!
Now that's what I call wispy shavings. You could almost read the newspaper though them. I bet you wouldn't have used stainless steel if you didn't have those nice machines. Keep up the great work. 😊
When a plane starts to sing … best sound ever! Schoop schoop schoop, I could listen to that all day! Threaded inserts! You sure fooled me … I thought you were going to use wood screws, flare the heads and sand them down to almost invisible like you did on the shooting plane a few years ago (which was a TON of sanding, but what a great effect!). If you had used a belt sander for that I don’t think it would’ve looked nearly as awesome as it ended up being. Ok, this plane. Nice machining, nice build and super nice coffin planes! Thanks for sharing, Stavros!
These are exquisite--such clean lines. I love how you mixed the old and new, in both materials and design. And your shavings! They're like silk! Wonderful to watch you work, as always :)
Beautiful. You are a wood machinist! I could see that the blue wood got slightly darker as it oxidized. When you leveled the top and wedge the wood was lighter slightly. If these were floating around in your head, I am very excited to see what you are going to dream up next. The more you master the machines the more creative and intricate your creations will become! Absolute master!
Stavos, I have worked making machines, tools, and now as an old man I make plans for bridges, as cartographers say, plans and tools have to be beautiful. I congratulate you, they are beautiful brushes (in Argentina they are called brushes or garlopas)
I am so excited to receive the green pear coffin plane! This will instantly be my new favorite tool that I own. I've admired your work for so long, but I never thought I'd be able to actually own a Stavros Gakos plane. Thank you!
Outstanding skills and talent, bravo Stavros! i've been watchin your channel i dont' know for how long now but every time i see preview for your new video my heart melts
Those are some truly beautiful planes my friend! That is a gorgeous design you have come up with and one that you should be very proud of! I must say, it had me pretty confused in the first few videos but I had faith in your vision and what a vision it turned out to be!
Yup that was a lot of work, a big learning curve too, understanding the new tools and methods of working. This will get faster and therefore more economical. Did you time the making of these just to see how many hours they took, then times it by your hourly workshop rate to see how much you would have to charge to make at least 30% profit. You have a business to run, not a charity! Love how you are expanding your skills, look forward to whatever you do.
Thanks Simon! I didn't count the time because it was first time with that project. Now i know how to make them faster. The price for that kind of plane for this moment is 475$ for me (with cost of materials) and 225$ dollars for polish goverment, total 700$.
@@StavrosGakos hand made tools are never cheap, mass produced obviously cheaper, but I have found my specialists old tools whilst costly will outlast my working life, and I will pass on a hand made tool, like yours, they should last 200 years, I have tools I'm using that are 120 years old.
Dear Stavros, A true work of art! Would you mind telling us, for how much you sold the planes in the end? I can only imagine the price having 4 digits.
wow, what a plane! but why not show the process of making the sole? what about a low angle bevel down plane with a bed angle just slightly above the bevel angle?
8:10 Me: ok, where is this going? 8:42 Me: sure, but why? 8:49 Me: why you put a funny little hat on ze wedge? 8:54 Me: Oh, that slid in real nice 8:55 (gasp) 8:56 Me: WHAT?! Stop it! It completes the prism shape of the plane? Brilliant!

Congratulations Stavros!!! Your development over the years, as a plane maker, has been a joy to watch.
You make the process to realize this hand plane very zen. Is really beatiful
Now that's what I call wispy shavings. You could almost read the newspaper though them. I bet you wouldn't have used stainless steel if you didn't have those nice machines. Keep up the great work. 😊
Stavros, you are an amazing engineer. You do extremely high quality work.
They are really beautiful, cuts as thin as japanese planes. I am much impressed, very good craftmanship...
As a woodworker and machinist, beautiful work.
you definitely stepped up the level of craftsmanship on this one Stavros, what a beautiful plane!

Ok, this plane. Nice machining, nice build and super nice coffin planes! Thanks for sharing, Stavros!
These tool 20:42 makes are the tools I would imagine they used to make Stradivarius violins in years gone by ,,,,beautiful work again 👍🏻👍🏻
What an absolute masterpiece. Well done, Stavros.
Wonderfully done. I have really enjoyed watching the evolution of your work over the years.
They remind me of Vincent Van Gogh, starry night. Beautiful craftsmanship. Master workmanship and design.

Waooo😮 magnifique, à ce niveau de compétence, c’est de l’artisanat et de l’art tout simplement 👌👍👍👍 Je suis admiratif
Functional. Beautiful. Impressive.
You can see the workpiece lift at around 0:41. It's better to always tap it down with a hammer to make sure it's seated correctly.
Between 0:41 and 0:42 was not a second, rather a faw minutes. You know what does it mean :)
Stunning planes, man! What a fantastic work!!! 😃
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Bez dwóch zdań zacne „samolociki”. 👍
Dziękuję 🤟
I’ve been waiting for this. Great build. Even if I were to afford one of the planes, I can only imagine the shipping cost to the USA!
Thank you Todd! About 10$ up to 1000g, 20$ from 1000g to 2000g 🤟
Import tax ?
Sensacional um show de plaina 🇧🇷🙏

Can you tell me what material this is made of? Is it artificial wood?
Stabilized and dyed beech wood. You can find video about it.
👏
Is that wood or some sort of resin?
