    Aussie Dave here Nigel, WOW! From the beginning I thought you should leave the pottery to Isabella, but you have inspired me to make my own 🤗. I already have a block of clay in my beer fridge. I'll wait until you fire it to see the end result turn out.....🤔🤗🤗

    I love all the different things you try on this channel in the name of bonsai 🌱 I think so many good things come from trying things without any pressure to do them perfectly and correctly, and as someone who has done ceramics many years I loved seeing you work without any of that pressure.
    Tomorrow when you put feet on make sure to wet and score the area you attach them to otherwise they'll fall off! Your pot looks great so far! 🌟

    Hi Nigel!! Very nice pot, put together very simply and yet it came out beautifully! You give hope to those who want to try their hand at it themselves. Paying attention to those tiny details really does pay off. BRAVO!!
    You should check out how to make Hypertufa pots. A simple mixture of perlite (or vermiculite), peat moss, portland cement, and cement strengthening fibers if the pot is large. They are lightweight pots that are porous and handle winters well. There is no firing involved, it can be molded into whatever shape you can come up with, and can create garden art pieces easily. You can use wire brushes on it, sand it down, use things like pine branches pressed into it for artistic designs, and on and on. Cement powders can be added for color as well. The possibilities are limited to your imagination.
    As you can tell, I think it's a great method for creating your own pots. Also, because of the porous nature of the mix, it looks aged right from the start and just gets better as time goes on. There are many channels, some better than others, out on UA-cam that go into detail on creating with Hypertufa, from pots to artwork like your temple. I would love to see what you could do with it!!
    Lots of love from an ardent fan! Thanks Nigel!!

    A small friendly advice/opinion
    that high pitched ~*HI*~ everyone, right at the start, when no time to adjust the headphones..... please change that.
    also add tiny legs to the pot, so it does not lie flat on the surface, for better areation.

    Bonjour Nigel, really like the simple approach. You have touched on an interesting topic for bonsai. What proportions do bonsai pots usually exhibit ? Length to width ratio (do they roughly follow a Golden Rectangle ratio)? I know tree to pot proportions are crucial but I’m talking of pot alone. You mentioned “magic proportions”. It would be good for anyone making pots like you have to make them to a rough proportion. What would you say that could be? Might you share your pot’s dimensions ? it really looks great !

    • @thumperoux1528
      @thumperoux1528 2 роки тому

      Just saw “LaChaineManquante” comment bringing up the Golden Rectangular proportion found in so many things we come across.

    Great looking pot! I've always wanted to make my own. One question that came to mind while watching, does scoring/crosshatching and adding slip to contact points like the lip or feet to the pot help strengthen the connection? It's been well over a decade since I worked with clay but for some reason that came to mind. Looking forward to part 2!
