Hy, just wanted to say thx. 3 years ago your videos got me started on trying to creat my own clay pots. Last year i finaly managed to creat a big 42cm oval pot that was flawless. Turns out there is a lot more to pottery, but you make it look so easy. My biggest struggles are with cracks, and warpage while drying and after firing. Maybe you could someday do a video about these topics.
I also want to share a new technik that i found. 3D printed moulds out of plastik. I draw a 3D image of the pot i want to make on my pc. Than i draw the negativ as a mold. the design is similarto a plaster mold. Taking care that you can demold it properly. I then print it on my 3D printer. These molds are especially suitable for large pots. I can print a mold usually in 1 day and material costs are about 4 euros. Demolding works well as long as you use release agents.
    Thx for the gread video.

Thank you for your kind testimony.
I've also thought about using my 3D printer to make molds, but most printers don't have a large printing surface, and I would have to limit myself to very small pots.
How do you make big pots? Are you combining several parts? Unless you have access to a large printer, I'll be curious how you go about it.

      @@Greg-ceramics Hy.
As with a plaster mold, the plastic mold must also be divided. Otherwise demoulding is impossible.
I only use the mold for the walls. Freehanding an oval pot with curved edges is impossible for me.
For example a 40 x 40 cm raw square pot:
I divide the mold into 4 parts, with each corner being 1 part. You can simply print 4 times the same corner. 1 part would then be approx. 21,5*21,5 cm (1,5cm wall thickness of the mold, 20% infill). I place the wall mold on a straight surface, which serves as a shape for the bottom. I usually fix the 4 parts of the form on the outside with adhesive tape or simply clay. Then fill it up hte mold using your plate technique. Allow to dry slowly for 2 days until the clay is leather hard. The pot can now be removed from the mold due to the slight shrinkage. From now on add feet and decorations as desired. Silicone works best as a release agent. I had a lot of trail and error, so if you want more details let me now.
      happy holidays
