Amtrak Crew CALLS OUT foamer on radio, conductor gives me pin

- This is a REVISED video I made of the crew of Amtrak 91 calling out a trespassing foamer, The original video had a quality control issue, so I went back to re render it in vegas pro.
ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION:
This is a video I made in Tampa Florida of Amtrak train 91 with heritage unit 160 on it. At the start of the video a foamer stands directly on the tracks for photos and gets called out over the radio. after they ran off I receive a 50th anniversary pin from the conductor. - Авто та транспорт
That was extremely f****** rude don't call people for railfanning the engineer should be ashamed of himself the engineer can go f*** himself
Clown comment of the day worthy of being on the pin of shame.
@@AlexTraxxas him censoring the f word is the cherry on top.
Thats the stupidest thing I've read on the internet in days. The guy was in the middle of a live rail line. He wasn't just in the corridor, he stood in the middle of the tracks, then trespassed even more despite further warnings from the crew. He deserved the cops for that. No photo is worth getting hurt or killed or arrested for.
As a conductor with a class one, no it isn't rude, he needs to stay off the damn tracks. We can't stop that engine on a dime, we have enough to deal with without having to watch for jackoffs like him
thats you in the orange shirt?
Another thing you have to realize is that for the crew in the cab, seeing a person stand between the gauge of the rail may bring back some nasty and genuinely painful memories if that engineer ever hit anybody.
yeah…imagine getting a flashback to seeing someones body parts on your windshield all because a foamer wanted to get a CoOl pIcTuRe!
okay...... they dont need to get a crab in their pants and start acting like they cant do that though.
I understand people like watching trains, but stay off their property watch from public property or your own property if your property butts up to the railroad property but stay off the railroad property unless you’re given explicit permission
1 the train is going 10 mph, 2 he was off in plenty of time.
And if that gives him bad memories, he needs to quit because he has lots of problems.
That’s a good crew right there. They were honest, and they knew it wasn’t you. I hope he heard the same chatter you did and had a scanner
I don't think so
@@AlexTraxxas the engineer said that he’s making a bad example for other railfans that are just trying to have some fun, and he never called the police.
Not to mention how dangerously close the kid actually was.
Please enlighten me, what makes you think the crew wasn’t good?
@@MrJustinbegley I believe he was saying that he doesn't think that the idiot standing in the tracks had a scanner, not that it wasn't a good crew.
Agreed, that was my first comment when the video started, GTFO. Stand away from it. Use an extension arm if you must have your camera right in the center. If the idiot trips, drops his camera or whatever, the train operator might have a situation on his hands. Sometimes you have to take safety seriously, even if it inconveniences you.
@@gblargg Yes, even if the trains moves slowly, it has a lot of weight and it will not stop like a tricycle. (Or whatever vehicle orange floridaman has experience driving.)
Props to the crew on this train, it drives me nuts when some garbage like that happens. The conductor as well to give you the pin that was really friendly of her!
my only question is, is there ever in any circumstance at any distance to be directly on the railroad tracks while not crossing the tracks themselves of an active line? Say if it was a straight section of track, the train is moving at 20 mph or so over a mile or two away, and you stay on the pavement portion itself, for a little bit like 10-20 seconds. Something like that? Or just flat out never? I have never done it, but I've thought of doing something like that strictly in circumstances I've described before. But wouldn't do it if others think I shouldn't.
@@CPorterI would recommend not. How confident are you that there isn't going to be an 80mph train coming from behind you? Is the 20mph train stopping in a siding to let another pass?
You can be pretty confident, but is it worth risking your life for? Not when a half step to the side is just as good.
@phillyphakename1255 I wouldnt ever do it on a double line, but I get what you're saying anyways
Don't be that guy. This is why railroads don't like people doing stupid or irresponsible actions. If someone gets killed they have to write a report about it and having a LEO show up on your doorstep notifying you of a fatality regarding a family member is what nobody ever wants to have happen. Be safe, be careful, stay away from the tracks.
There are legal remifications beyond just a cop showing up.. If there is a fault fatalityThere are legal remifications beyond just a cop showing up.. If there is a fatality The crew is often supenoed to go to court And give a statement Or testify.
The Way people act these days. That's why operation lifesaver exists
Yes I’ve heard about an idiot on the line in England Infront of a 9F (very heave and blunt at the end so wacky you out fully and then you get hot steam, other) he was told to leave. afterwards he took down a gate by climbing on it so had to pay some money
@@ab_railways_original In England every railroad crossing and fence has a sign post that states that the fines starts at £1000. That is in addition to paying for delays, destroyed equipment etc.
just in case though Funeral director's are usually close by
I'm glad the crew called the guy out. There have been too many fatalities in Florida with people standing in the tracks.
All the respect to the both the engineer and conductor aboard that train. I've admittedly stood on tracks a few times but never when I knew a train was there. That guy just didn't care, all in all a very educational video!
the guy moved, as soon as the rail signs and lights came on...
to say he didn't care, or caused any sort of disturbance, is absurd.
@@BrothersfamilyfarmThe train was in view, so he shouldn’t be standing on the line.
But did anyone notice there was someone with him, who didn't even tell him he
shouldn't be on the tracks. Unless.... he was someone's excess baggage.
@@Brothersfamilyfarm well he obviously didn’t care if he was on the tracks until the gates went down and AMT91 was making the curve right then and there. Pretty retarded move by the orange shirt kid.
@@Brothersfamilyfarm its trespassing on RR property and in a dangerous way, and the crew is not gonna know if hes gonna keep running around or not, so they must precede or come to full a stop
I love that you included the radio audio. Adds all the context needed for this video. Cool of that conductor for giving you that pin too.
Thanks
I hope the guy in orange finds this video and sees the author got the pin.
He'll be like 'why did he get a pin and I didn't'... -Because HE didn't stand on the tracks, FOOL...
The Virtual Railfan channel would give that guy a "Darwin Award"
Hell, I think anyone with any common sense would nominate that guy for a Darwin Award
Candidate
@@notarotomwithhair5637 Guaranteed.
@@notarotomwithhair5637 Nominee for sure.
One of these days. This nitwit will be facing the wrong way and he will get his award more ways than one.
The guy is lucky. Up here on the Lake Shore, I've seen a couple of people trying to get a "money shot" standing in the gauge of the track when I'm barreling down the track at 77mph. So for those morons who are complaining about the Engineer, just know this: DO NOT SPEAK ABOUT OR JUDGE ANYTHING IF YOU HAVEN'T EXPERIENCED IT!!!!! The Engineer and train crew did nothing wrong.
Nah i was thinking why tf is that idiot standing in the middle of the track
First person in the comments I've found who speaks truth. My beef is with the condescending poster, not the crew.
I dont know why people cant just find a decent curve coming off a straight piece of track and zoom in. People got to get more creative.
@@railgap thank you. Mine too!
@@DevonMopiedmont1143 unfortunately, that takes too common sense. What people fail to realize is all it takes is just one slip, trip, or fall and that's it.
I giggled when the engineer described him as running around with an orange shirt "ruining it for everybody else"
I’m glad he called him out. It’s people like him that stand in the middle of the track that to get pic get killed then their family blame the us engineers and company.
Agreed
My Dad Has A Term For People Like That Guy Who Was Standing On The Tracks! ,(TURD BRAIN)!!!!!!!
@@charleswelch2802 Another fitting term I'd use would probably get my comment auto-removed by UA-cam's filters... 😂
What a nice gesture by the conductor. Now please stay off the tracks.
@@charleswelch2802 Hey, we have an icon for that! 💩💩 for brains.
That was so cool of her to give you a pin! What a prize for being sensible
As a retired trainman, I unfortunately had to see the results of stupidity, panic or suicidal behavior. Two lived, one just being slightly grazed, the other lost body parts. All the others were killed and they still visit me as I try to sleep
good on that railroad crew. get these foamers out of here. they’re an embarrassment to the railfanning community
Exactly.
Might I ask why their called foamers? Where did the term originate from?
@@greenwoodfireresponse because trains make them foam at the mouth. It's a derogatory term that train crews use for these types.
@@tubbstopher Thank you....... I was wondering also
@GreenwoodFireResponse Think crazy rabid dog, "foaming at the mouth."
Some train channels ban the term, which only fuels the fire for trolls.
I worked for the railroad for 40 years, 35 of those in engine service. I have had multiple fatalities and more close calls. From a distance the engineer has no way of knowing whether a person standing between the rails is suicidal or just stupid. I would have called it in especially since it's not the first time the guy in the orange t shirt has done that.
Avoid the sin, get a pin.
don't commit the crime if ya can't serve the time!
@@Drakeman2003 Aman
That crew deserves a raise.
They deserve more respect from the public, can't expect it from the occasional knukkahead.
I can't stand foamers that go around trying to cause trouble, people like this guy in the orange shirt give railfanners a bad rep and make people disliked us even more. Great video! 😊
> *give railfanners a bad rep*
IMO, people who assume that railfans are as bad as foamers are part of the problem - and ignoring this component is problematic.
Exactly correct!
At least he was wearing a bright colour otherwise no chance he would’ve been spotted
@@ab_railways_original what will an orange shirt do to stop a train? LMAO
@@alfi_csgo6011 Won't stop the train, it does provide better visibility for the crew on the head end. Someone said he was with his momma, maybe she'll apply foot to azz, as he's too big to spank.
Big atta boy to the crew for being alert 👍👍👌, although they were in a sterile cab situation, obeying signals and slowing for a anticipated stop. Very smooth stop, an Attaboy for not being distracted coming up to a stop situation. (Red signal, I assume).
In a situation years ago, we had a (_____ insert appropriate derogatory desciption) van stopped on the tracks, 5-6 hundred feet in front of us, at night, playing chicken with us. We're doing about 55mph, thinkin' awww 💩, here we go! Applied brakes, full service, then emergency. Knukkahead took off, we stopped about a mile and a half later. Repeat performances day after day can and will affect the crew in a negative way, as they have to have their eyes peeled the whole trip for similar situations.
I know the engineer, good guy, and 100% correct
He needs to do his job and shut his mouth
I'm 70, when I was 6 to 15 my family took the Golden State train from L.A. CA to Amarillo TX twice every year. The railroad employees were the nicest people.
One lasting memory was the conductor spreading California Poppy seeds up the Grape Vine Hill.
In the spring both sides of the track were covered with orange flowers.
Great folks, lasting memories.
"Not the money shot."
*It would be for the foamer's family when they try to sue the crew for "being negligent" after he's struck.* At least until the footage gets shown in court.
Ah yes, the smart thing to do when a train is approaching head on is to stand dead center
Footage from another video of mine is being used in a case right now.
😂😂😂
I could have been a very lousy 50th anniversary if a tragic incident had occurred here...
That's probably one of the overall best looking Amtrak trains I have seen a video of recently. The locomotives both look in good shape, very sharp paint job on the lead locomotive. The cars all look clean and in good shape. Over the last few years especially from both my experience viewing videos and in person sightings, alot of Amtrak equipment is covered with grime and the locomotives look beat to hell and in need of new paint. The nice thing about the stainless steel, a 40+ year old Amfleet car looks a fraction of its age when its nice and clean! Top notch video, seems like a friendly crew, despite the engineer being pretty irritated by the fellow in the orange shirt. Completely understandable though! Thank you for posting!
Good on the crew to call them out, and very kind of the conductor to give you a pin.
This is a really great video, hats off to the amazing crew of that train. Saw them in Lake Mary earlier that day.
Thank you.
Excellent video Alex! Thanks so much! That engineer was actually quite nice about the whole thing! Standing right in the middle of the track is a dipsh*t move, especially with an orange shirt on. And the engineer said, he does it all the time, I'm gonna have to call it in!
Lucky blessing that you got that 50th Anni. Pin! Seriously, the crew of that train were awesome!
thanks
I’ve stopped my train before if ahead of schedule to just say a few words. If they would have seen or been through half of what I have, they would never stand between the rails. Much respect for this crew. Remember we’re by ourself in the cab. We rely on good people to keep everyone safe !!
That was sure nice of the conductor or brakeman. The guy in the orange shirt was really stressing out the engineer. The engineer doesn’t need that.
“I don’t care if they buff, I don’t care if they take pictures. Don’t stand in the middle of the tracks”
I’ve been foaming by that mantra all my life. Hell, in some instances, it’s been rewarding (got a hat from a CN crew, a couple safety vests and a cab tour back in the day)
How cool, what a professional and thoughtful person she is.
Sean is truly a good guy if I was him I wouldn’t have warned that guy I would just call him in
That's true
It comes down to people need to respect the fact that those locomotives are 200 tons they don’t just stop like the old saying goes play stupid games when stupid prizes that kid could’ve easily tripped, injured himself and got himself run over by an Amtrak train. There should be heavier penalties for trespassing, especially on railroad property since it’s a very dangerous area to be.
@@jeremyolson3837 or you play with fire you get burned

@@Drakeman2003the only issue is that it takes people out with you. The engine man has gotta see and hear that day every time he goes to sleep. That time when they killed or maimed someone. That time they had to stick around as they carted the guy off because he had to do paperwork.
It's not a victimless crime.
That crew was excellent and that conductor was lovely to give you that pin Keep up the good reputation for us enthusiasts
I like to railfan but not on the tracks, that's nuts
One of my favorite railroad interactions so far :)
Pretty sure he got the message....Completely understand how he made the crew nervous! You don't want to see anything on the tracks ahead of you!
Unfortunately I doubt it. Had the police been around to pick him up he would have been furious, not to mention his mother(?) in the car.
@@57thorns Poor mummy, been puttin' up with that Ironhead for a long time. ¿Cabeza de fiero? 🤔😖
That’s why the railroad police will sometimes come and tell them to leave or just stay away from the tracks
Or just hand them a ticket for trespassing.
I'm impressed with the comments here, by you guys who are obviously rail fans. I'm impressed that you DON'T support doing something unsafe and illegal. There are a lot of people/hobbies where that's overwhelmingly not the case. Thank you, from a non rail fan retired paramedic, for being a conscientious rail fan.
Thank you for your service.
I love the phrase "don't do stupid things when you're doing stupid things".
Sure, trespass on railroad property, go down in the steam tunnels at your uni, etc, but also, while you are doing the unsafe/illegal thing, make sure to be careful about hazards which make it exponentially more dangerous.
Watch out for open pits, confined spaces, don't stand on the tracks looking through a viewfinder. Keep your wits about you, and make the unsafe/illegal thing as safe as possible.
I really love this! It shows how doing things right and not breaking the rules actually gets people somewhere! My heart is full after your reward for being a stand up human! My son watches these types of train videos all the time so I want him watching great influences like y'all instead of those crazy rascals!
I was a Special Agent with ICG RR in E. St. Louis, Ill! Got dispatched to a town just north where a 16 yo girl driving a Plymouth Fury ran around the crossing gate! The Amtrak Turbo Liner broadsided her. The front half of the Plymouth was located a half a mile toward St. Louis. The rear half was just the other side of the crossing. Sadly her brother and her never made it to school!
Great hornwork by the engineer; as a former RR employee, I appreciate the way they handled this. One second of carelessness can cause a lifetime of sorrow.
Possibly a very short lifetime of sorrow.
What a great conductor. That made your video really special
I went with my friend to watch a train pass. We stood back from the track about 100 feet. I figured that if something broke or an object on a rail got hit and propelled my way I might have enough time to duck behind a tree. My friend is a real rail fan. He had a small riding railroad that circled down a hill, over a trestle, past his dad's house (it was his dad's project) and crossed a driveway, with a wig-wag, up the hill and back to the train barn. It was a sweet arrangement.
Saddening, I used to know this kid. I’m never speaking to him again after that.

Great Video of amtrak and that was so nice of the conductor to give you a gift 📦,When I'm train spotting at one of my spots in Atlanta I see people walking and taking pictures on active tracks but not taking pictures when the train is coming and the gates are down.
My younger son & I took Amtrak from Mineola to San Antonio for Thanksgiving. As we approached SA, the conductor turned the chairs to set up the car for the train to LA. She was having trouble with the latch pin not releasing, even with 2 other people helping. I suggested we try turning the chair in the other direction just to loosen the pin, then go the correct way; with 3 of us, it worked. She did thank me for the help. I told her that I was just trying to help and not take over.
I once had a guy in Parsons Yard Columbus OH lay down between the rails to take a pic of a train coming down the switching lead. Needless to say I had him thrown out.
You do NOT know the stress you cause a train crew doing that. Aha... It wasn't you!
Nice catch. Back in June 2016 on the Amtrak Downeaster these two P42s were together on a set
4:08 super classy! The engineer was spot on too. Take photos/video, but don't be an idiot.

Dude, as an OLAV that was awesome of the crew! When I first saw him in the gauge I was nearly yelling at the video (of course, I didn't because I'm at work) lol.
Wow, does that guy/kid know that you can get great shots NOT standing on the tracks? Ever heard of a telephoto lens!? The pin is super cool-I need one for my camera bag. Thanks for a great video-I’m subscribing!
Thanks for the info!
When I was a second trick maintainer in Philadelphia during the afternoon rush, we normally found kids walking in the gauge to get from one place to another on their way home from school... and I had to explain to them what would happen if they didn't hear the electric powered commuter train coming up behind them. Fortunately, I never found pieces of kids along that stretch of track.
The trolley at the end of this video was a nice touch.
This is an interesting experience which I have not seen nor heard(since I haven’t Railfaned so much, and since I am also 14), but that is dumb thing to do. It’s literally common sense. Anyways that was pretty nice of the conductor giving a pin! Hope at least that happens to me once! Nice catch of the Pepsi special livery!
EDIT: We hit 100k views.
The views are going up at an insane rate. It took a year for the first 10k, last month I hit 30k, before I left town last week it went to 50k, and fast forward to present time we are at almost 100k views. Thank you everyone this is the 4th most popular video on my channel now.
Any idea on what the function of the move the train undertook, pulling up and then backing?

Great Video…. Lucky moment for you. Kudos to the Amtrak team…
The consist would have been cool if the the Amfleet matched the Viewliners. And if 145 compained it would have been an awesome Phase 3 extravaganza in the 21st century.
Remember that when filming or taking photos that you are watching someone do there JOB. It can be incredibly frustrating to be filmed or watched while doing a job so cut them some slack. They are making a living and one incident can cause them their job because you wanted a photo.
A year or two back I read a news article about a photographer who stood on the tracks to get a shot of a steam train. It didn't end well for the photographer.
check out the phase 3 paint scheme on all the viewliners ,I wonder if they'll paint all of the cars in that scheme?

I get such a rush when a train goes by that I never get from cars. Trains built this country way more than automobiles have. No matter how big and cool you think your truck is, it does nothing for me.
Your comment might be accurate, circa 1950.
Wrong. If you average out this country's history (and do your research), trains have contributed far more to industry, transportation, and the economy than cars and since have since 1950. Furthermore, you could also argue that automobiles and mainly America's dependence on them is actually ruining this country.

What's a "foamer" ??
I’m reading comments trying to figure that out too…
I used to drive a school bus across that crossing. Several times we had to wait for the train, which is turning around to head east, and the conductor always gave us a friendly wave.
Thanks for sharing
I've rail fanned a few times where I stood way back where the crew knew I was there to just watch and not cause trouble at a place where they typically do some switching on a regular basis. After they saw me a few times they came up and let me stand closer with there permission, so the conductor could have somebody to talk for a little bit. Turns out I had a friend that watched them switch the next town over. Surprising what they do when they find out your not their to cause trouble.
He got called out by the crew when you got a pin from them for doing the right thing so I bet he’s very jealous now.
Hey tell your friend he’s in pretty deep trouble with the crew 😂

Rule #2: See rule #1.
"you know what sounds like a good idea? Standing in front of a couple hundred tons of moving steel"

Amtrak Trains are VERY territorial and protective of their tracks! One must never disturbed a passing train!
Haha. “Their tracks” if only they owned them…
That was very risky. My scared weak-ass would never have the balls to do what that foamer did. But that Dash 8 pin was absolutely cool not gonna lie
That foamer was lucky enough that he didn’t get hit by the train since the engineer can see him on the level crossing. Had he stood on the tracks further away from the crossing or dealt with a hasty engineer, the engineer would not give a shit and will hit him hard to the ground. But as always there are still engineers with a kind heart. The engineer in the video is one of them.
By the fact that the enginner or conductor (i honestly have no clue as i don't have a radio scanner currently) said they do it all the time, that person had been doing it for a while
