    Like watching an artist paint a masterpiece. I could watch and listen to Tharp flip all day everyday. I love these kind of videos.

    I discovered this in a weird way when I was a kid back in the 90s. My little boat got blown into a field of pads while I was fishing a “jig n pig” (that’s what we used to call jigs back in the day 🤷‍♂️). So I just dumped my jig into this little hole in the pads with zero expectation…I don’t know why I did it. Maybe I was procrastinating and didn’t feel like picking up my oars to get myself out of there just yet. But it was immediate…it didn’t even hit bottom and my line started moving back into the pads, STICK. It’s funny, back before the internet was a thing, the only way we figured this stuff out was by sharing information or trial and error. That was a totally unexpected success in the midst of my early fishing adventures as a kid.

    definitely lake Seminole. late summer pretty much all you can do is flip or fish deep river bends. bites are few but the quality is there.

    Ive fished invisible disappearing red braid next to hi-vis yellow and catch as many fish on one color as the other. Can fish see the bright yellow line better? Of course they do! Can they reason that the line tied to a bait they are about to hit could be attached to a rod and present a danger? Their brain is the size of an acorn....dont give them too much credit! Line color doesnt matter, I've seen it 100 times. MAYBE a to brookie in a clear stream may make a difference, for bass in heavy cover...doesnt matter!

    I really needed this video! Firstly on fishing braid with confidence in vegetation- hell Im going to take it another step and go hi vis yellow now and see if it makes any difference- ok ok I might black out 8ft with a marker :-). But the real gold in this vid is the advice on striking. Just got back from a tournament- in practice I buried the hook and didn’t strike. They just wouldn’t let it go. Tournament day 1 the first bus grabs it and I immediately drop the tip and absolutely smoke him on a slack line - miss. Two casts later another bus same story. Missed 5 in a row! Next bite I let her eat, wind down and lean into it - 10lb in the boat and again and again. Such good advice Randall - especially on 1oz weights and above. What a legend!

    Great vid. With the Coronavirus, our lakes haven't been tended to, and so there's a lot more weeds and grass than usual. I'm finding myself being forced to better understand working baits around and through this stuff.

    Too many fisherman give up way too early when they flip or pitch. It is a slow process, however you will get the biggest bass using this method.

    As a prefered flippin and pitcher, Do you prefer more padding in your boat? Reason I ask is I'm dealing with an issue of having back pain from this technique. Yet it's a technique that's putting fish in the boat.

    • @jameshallfishing3377
      @jameshallfishing3377 6 років тому

      Kayem Kay I understand but i can't set the hook with a medium rod. It's too flimsy.

    • @pattywatts4640
      @pattywatts4640 6 років тому

      James Hall fishing, I fish medium and medium fast rods when i fish the slop cause i don't have a flipping rod yet and i've almost never had a problem setting the hook, but anyways maybe try using a chair if you can fit it on your boat, other then that you'll just have to deal with back pains. you could also just have bad posture when your fishing, idk.

However I often hear the pros say when u c ur line jump I'm curious r they addressing the bait falling? Or how do u identify line jump! I know if my line is swimming ones got it but if they pick it up on the fall I'm clueless

    Why not just use a lefty reel? What a pain in the ass constantly switching hands. Not like the fish is a big marlin or something.

      Yup.... I do the same. Makes no sense to me switching hands like thay constantly. I get comments from others regarding my left hand reels.
      It just feels that much more natural.

    • @m14hh5
      @m14hh5 5 років тому +2

      For myself I agree with that. The only time I would maybe want a right hand retrieve is when flipping and pitching so the line doesn't get caught in the handle.

    • @joshuaflores3647
      @joshuaflores3647 5 років тому

      @@m14hh5, I can tell that you ACTUALLY flip heavy cover, because the line DOES get caught in the crank/handle when using a lefty when flipping. I use a lefty for everything else; but for flipping, it can't be done without getting your braid wrapped up on your reel.

    • @m14hh5
      @m14hh5 5 років тому

      @@joshuaflores3647 Haha I really don't do much flipping but I figured the one right handed reel I had would go on the rod that I would be most likely to flip with. I am thinking now that might not be the best way to go.
