I have a 2018 jeep compass latitude and it's front wheel drive I'm glad you showed me where to lift it from the front but I don't know where to lift the rear.

Being 2WD I would assume there is just a cross bar and I wouldn’t recommend lifting off of that… your best bet would to just lift each side and then the front or do the front and then just do one side that way it gives you the ability to remove 3 of the 4 tires and do a rotation… just be safe and take your time!!
Hope this helps and thanks for watching!

Is it safe to jack on the rear differential?

If yours is AWD yes you should be fine. That’s how I lifted mine, just listen for any weird noise or sound. Thanks for watching!!

Great video, i have 2020 all wheel drive compass, but it's a diesel, anyhow, I have a question, is it safe to jack the rear side on the rear differential?

    • @jlautomotive6349
      @jlautomotive6349  Місяць тому

Personally I wouldn’t jack off the side of the diff… I would put the jack in the middle. If you go off the side you risk bending something and causing a vibration. You can put a jack stand on the end but you have to be out as far as you can, closest to the wheel…
Hope this helps and thanks for watching!!

What are you going to do to the vehicles points???

Are you speaking to the Jack points?
Yes I jacked off of other points of the Jeep to be able to get the entire Jeep off the ground for the video but just to make life easier and to be able to look over the whole Jeep better… if this isn’t what you mean let me know?!!
      Thanks for watching!!

Great video! I saw you have other 2nd Gen Jeep Compass how to videos. I have yet to find a comprehensive video on how to change the brakes and rotors on this model Jeep. Please let me know if you have one and I couldn’t find it!

Thanks, My compass is a 2019 with only 27K and is not currently in the need of anything but yes as soon as I need say a battery, breaks or other things I will most definitely be making DIY videos!
      Again thanks for watching!!

Did your tire pressure monitor automatically pick up the new location of the tires?

    • @jlautomotive6349

I keep all the tires at 38 psi so I am not certain but no I believe once you rotate them they need to be recalibrated… I don’t personally care, for me it’s about saving money and if you need air you can clearly see “which” tire needs it…
Hope this helps, thanks for watching!

@@jlautomotive6349 thanx what I was looking for is how to recalibrate the tpms, going to put winter tires and wheels on my 2019 latitude. Will not be mixing them up, will be changing the all together. Guess I'll have to go to the old route and put a tire gauge in it. Cant find the recal instructions anywhere

In the owners manual it says that if you put a set of winter tires on… the next key cycle you will need to drive over 15mph or 20+ minutes and the light will beep and flash for 75 seconds and say “service TPM system…
The next key cycle will beep again but the light should be out and the pressures will read ( _ _ )
I hope this is a little more clear for the basics but with rotating there isn’t a way to switch which tire is being read vs where… just keep a physical eye on your tires like the old school days!!
      Thanks again for watching!

💥 35 years of driving numerous vehicles and I’ve never rotated tires. That’s just a sales pitch that shops recommend to sell more tires. If one wears more than others I fix the problem and change only one tire vs rotating tires around the vehicle and causing all of them to wear out faster than if they were left alone.
If not touched back tires last forever but by moving them to the front they wear sooner. I haven’t replaced more than 1 tire at a time in decades. Thanks for the vid and I gave you a 👍🏼

You can't switch sides lmao. Do you not have rotational tires? They are marked which way the tire needs to spin.

No, the tires on my Compass are non-directional tires… so I am free to move them around but yes if you have ones that are directional then you can only go front to back…
Hope this helps and thanks for watching!!
