    I didn`t even know there was a reducing trumpet in the guard void, I assumed the intake was the same size. I removed it yesterday and drove today and noticed a difference in throttle pedal position while cruising. Thanks mate, I love your videos. I also put bird wire over the intake to keep the rats from trying to nest in the airbox.

      Same here. I just got some work done on my almost-9yo 2.2 4x2 Wildtrak and less than 2K kms to go before 100K. I think I'm going to get it past 11yrs++

    Legend.
    Do you know the seatbelt thing, keys to accessories, wait for seatbelt man to dissaper of dash, approx 5-10 secs, then buckle and unbuckle 4 times, seatbelt man starts flashing on dash... then keys fully off.
    No more seatbelt dinger, repeat for passenger.

    HI, thanks once more, i`ve got a 2022 3.2L Ranger, i was unsure after purchasing it, but your videos got me confident about keeping it instead of selling it with low mileage. Thanks

    2018 3.2 px2. Airbox mod, alloy intercooler and hard pipes, intake manfiold clean(shitfuckn job), new glow plugs, dpf back 3inch exhaust. 0 lag in the pedal from a stop now, almost like driving a petrol car. Off to get remaped soon, will see how it goes. Love ya tips mate!
    Keen to see how yours goes remaped as much as it has done 300k.

    I guess they made it like that to increase the air velocity and thus increase the cyclone effect inside the airbox helping getting rid of dust from the air and settling in the bottom of the airbox before getting to the air filter improving the longivity of the air filter itself.

    i found the air filter was much more noisy in the engine bay with out the restrictor . so i cut the horn where it starts to reduce and seated back into the front quarter panel. the quarter panel definetly insulates the sound

    Many times the factory does that just to avoid induction noises, many people don't like that very much and other reasons.
    Maybe I'm going to sneak this on my father in law ranger, lol.

    wouldn't it then be beneficial to source the 3.2's pipe instead and just fitting it. That already allows for more air and will remain in the guard on the body?

    • @abdautomotive
      @abdautomotive  Рік тому +1

      it picks up all the dust from inside the guard

    A reduction from 4" to a 2" inlet diameter is a reduction in area from ~7800mm to ~2100mm square. So you lose around 3/4 of the inlet area with that reducer on the 2.2. On the 3.2 going from 4" to 3" you lose much less, only around 1/2.
    I have to wonder what is the point of that thing?

      must be to make the power/torque diference more apparent for the bigger engine

    Hi bro, could you please describe / clarify below points ??
    * Fuel efficiency
    * Power & torque
    * Turbo spool
    If it's so beneficial, then i will do it in my father's 2015 Ranger 3.2, please let me know... Thanks

    Great Channel and Content
    i have a 2020 bt50 planned to do this and I replaced the stock air filter with a k&N and the improvement was instant. next i was to remove the plastic piece, However 2 days after the new filter was installed i got a warning light pop up so i checked my odb scanner and got a code "POOBD - Mass or air flow A circuit range/performance -Air flow too high." after that i restarted the van and it was gone.. Is it anything to be concerned about or check? Do I leave it or put back the stock one?

      Probs got oil residue on the maf sensor from the K&N filter bud. Remove maf and clean it with electrical contact cleaner.

      It’s because the factory air filter doesn’t let as much air though as a k an n one, the k an n one are quite thin, had the same issue with mine

    My Ford ranger 2018 2.2 doesn’t want to start, it just cranks without taking and it cut speed when passing 100km/h and losses power and picks up. They can’t find what is the issue, changed fuel injector pump,cranking senso, injector sensor and still nothing

    Can you please say something about how you experience the change? Do you feel some power increase or increase in the induction noise? Many airboxes have the same restrictor, trumpet like, it has to do with the Venturi effect in order to deal with pressure drops inside the airbox. However, for the Ranger 2.2 it may be that they've overdone it.

    • @abdautomotive
      @abdautomotive  Рік тому +1

      no noise increase, better towing under wide open throttle

    Stupid mod cutting that bit out, its there to direct the air/drops of water around the box using centrifugal force to separate the water from getting sucked in from the top (not 100% efficient)
    The 'restrictor' is there to meet the factory 800mm wadding depth, its also pointed forward so it sucks air from the front of the bumber instead of where the opening is.
    Good luck if you ever dip your nose in water

      at 800mm thats just touching the bottom of my bullbar.
