Just my 2¢ but if it's OEM or original equipment from the manufacturer and it works safely and correctly, I'd hold off on changing anything at least until thru the winter. See if you even like it before anything, even the curTains gets changed. I'd spray for bugs, probably throw another mattress on top of the other, disinfect the fresh holding tank but I'd keep EVERYTHING original until the beginning of next year but I'm sure you'll love it, you just don't want to ruin the resell value if for whatever reason you decide you don't want it. But 28yo classic, I think it's dope AF and really proud of you 🤟
I’m so happy for you. I disagree, I think it’s beautiful and full of luster. Take your time refurbishing it. I love the sleeping space you gained, the three-burner stove, and the refrigerator. 🤗I wish you and the sweet compassionate couple nothing but an abundance of health and blessings. 🙏🏾
Dude I absolutely love the inside! Clean it and keep it as is man. It’s factory and goes with the whole theme. You start trying to refinish things and the fit and finish won’t be super clean like factory. 🤙
It was meant to be, glad the first camper in Canada didn’t work out and you found the one you really wanted. Congrats man, I look forward to your future adventures in it.
Looks really good! Like I'm sure you've heard the saying; "Leave well- enough alone." I would give it a good cleaning and call it good. Save your money and enjoy the camper. ;)
Extremely rare to find strangers like this, I'd have to keep in touch with them after that hospitality. And I'm Extremely jealous you keep finding these campers!
Very nice! Don’t do too much to update it. Just recover your sofa and update curtains. Maybe paint the cabinets if you must. It’s so rare that you don’t want to change too much. I’m very happy for you!
Excellent purchase I bought a Bigfoot new in 2002 and just finally sold it in 2021 when I bought a Class A RV. Two suggestions make sure you put a rubber mat bed liner under the Camper to protect both the truck and your Bigfoot. Second add a set of Timbren SES bump stops to the rear suspension. It will make driving in high winds and off road both safe and easy. Still miss my Bigfoot...
@@XrpAndy No class refers to size or style of RV. Class A references the style of motorhome. A= big box flat front large gas or diesel. Class B = van style 1 ton or smaller RV class C = Cab and chassis cabover RV. None require special drivers licenses . I hope that helps.
Hi Mike....I never used bump stops. Do they give you a more gentle ride for off-road driving? I'd like to hear more about this. I'm going to have a truck camper here, hopefully soon. Any additional info will help greatly. Thanks!
What a lovely camper. Twenty-seven years for fiberglass isn't old at all. My husband has fiberglass statues (life sized nativity figures) over 50 years old. You'd never know by looking at them. With a little care that camper will last many, many years. Enjoy!
I Love being on a ferry, we went on a few in southern Texas. Spectacular ride. Be safe. That's strange you have to have a plate for the camper and the truck. 💜
Really enjoyed this journey video. There's a great nostalgic vintage elegance about this model, which has a perfect practical experience design. Indulge in it's originality for a while before you start demolition. You might find that most of what you have planned, may not be necessary. It's in great condition, because of that owner. BRAVO 👏!!!
It's beautiful all fiberglass no leaks, I love it and the inside is great. Please don't think that 1995 style is not cool 😎 because it's really coming back in so many ways. Honestly if I purchased a Bigfoot I would put a new mattress in it and really enjoy the great 90's look, but it's understandable that you want to make it your own. The 90's like your Bigfoot are built so much better than they are now. Congratulations 🎉 it's really fantastic purchase. Happy Trails🙏😎❤️👍
Its really nice! Leave it just like it is! The value is in its originality! Especially if you want to sell it sometime down the road. I love the 90's fabric and the woodwork. It looks so comfy and homey.. Good job, and what nice people you got it from!
Well, SUPER CONGRATULATIONS!!!! Jonathan, I think it's an ideal camper for you and I'm so glad you got another regular livable shell again. Bigfoot is an excellent brand and you're exactly right, fiberglass is the ONLY way to go and buying it in Canada, it rains as much or more than it does in Oregon. Glad you listened to your instinct and your subscribers, because I was one that also stated you should look for fiberglass and get away from the other constructs. As far as it's condition, it doesn't look bad at all. I would not change that much, just brighten and upgrade. The couch looks very comfortable, and has lots of seating area, the bed is spacious, so other than color variations, curtains, and a few things, I think you should do modest renovations because it's pretty well designed for the space. Surprisingly it's a lot more spacious looking and nicer than the Slumber Queen. I hope you have many, many, many, many years enjoying it . Looking forward to your adventures.
ABSOLUTELY A GREAT SECOND CHANCE...WINNER! HAPPY FOR YOUR DREAM (CAMPER) COMING TO YOU! LOOKING FORWARD TO INTERIOR RENOVATIONS AND THE AWESOME ADVENTURES AHEAD! *Vandie🚐Wings🦋*
A matter of hours and you have more than 21,000 views! You're doing something right. Bigfoot is an excellent choice. Another good thing, doing all this when you're young!
Hey, Jonathan.....What a great buy! My mate and I had a cab over camper back in the 70's. We named it La Tortuga (Spanish for "the turtle") Oh, the adventures we had....mostly good, plus a few harrowing experiences just to add to the memories. The interior was all gold and avacado green....the "in" colors for back in those days. We kept the decor simple and suitable. It was 91/2' long....plus had a neat bathroom with porta-potty, counter with sink, full length mirror on the inside of the door....all we ever needed! We camped for months in comfort. My opinion....keep it simple. You can do so much without a major renovation. By all means get rid of anything floral! I would use all solid colors of your choice...keep prints to a minimum. Subtle striped pillows as an accent....favorite framed prints for walls, if any. Consider hanging fabric wall decor in a more masculine theme! Maybe a mirror? Ah, that was fun; decorating your space....now I'll step back and eagerly watch what you do with it! I'm a new subby....I'm impressed with your videography. You have a really good eye. Are you a photographer?
Looks like a blessing that that first camper did not work out. I’d love to see that you have found a camper to make many more memories in and camper videos for us. I love camping but can’t do that anymore because of my medical conditions. Enjoy your new camper
My last camper van was bought by a guy from Porterville California to San Bernardino. Without telling me, he drove all night with his son and a buddy. He called me in the morning and asked to come see it. I hadn't spoken to him for three days. I asked him why he didn't call me. He was so lucky that I didn't already sell it already. He brought the cash and drove it home. I had a guy coming that afternoon to look at it. The moral is , strike while the irons hot. Much respect for your going for it.
Hey J , I live 40minutes North of Gibsons and been watching your video for 6mnths now. You scored an awesome rig, very familiar the Bigfoot units. They are hard to come by these days , but well worth the effort. Nice trip coming to get it EH! You will be enjoying it for years to come. Congrats dude.
I personally would leave the 90’s interior as is and keep it clean. Id upgrade the functional aspects like the sink, fridge, mattress, electrical. At least don’t don’t throw those original curtains and couch cushions out. If you’re gonna swap em; keep them stored. That’s a classic camper that will only go up in value over time by the way you described its rarity. Awesome purchase, your journey to find it has been wild. Congrats!
Had a 92 Northern Lite. LOVED IT!!!!! That fridge is a MONSTER don't replace it it will run forever!! Don't use it on 12V or you will regret it. You can replace the cooling part if you need to but they are AMAZING!!! I upgraded mine so I could use it in -30c temperatures and it was GREAT!!
I wouldn't be so hasty to tear everything out and rebuild. For future resale value I would restore the camper not redesign it and change all that made it hold it's value. I'm sure you could update the stove and refrigerator and get the new mattress and give it a deep clean and polish. This wouldn't be very time consuming so you could get back camping and fishing, doing all stuff for great content.👍
I completely agree with you because I think it's not only too costly to do major renovations, but it's well designed and uses the space appropriately, so I too would just upgrade and maybe make some color variations. It's a solid design and Big Foot stands the test of time...so I concur. What he should do is develop the space around the wheel wells outside like he did before on his fishing poles and extra storage, but I think the interior is pretty bulletproof.
Went down the UA-cam rabbit hole and found this video. Congratulations on finding your Bigfoot camper. We have a Bigfoot trailer! The build is great! I’ll be watching to see what renovations you do.
I'll try to get back with ya, but right now, I'm so proud of you(and congrats🎉)for getting that camper, for real, this time!!You have not, I repeat, have not, lost your mind!!🤭🤗Catch you soon!☕
Hell yeah! Congrats and stoked for you! Can't wait to see your future adventure videos with this camper! That was very generous of the seller to offer some hospitality! I tip my hat to them.
What did I tell you my dude??? See! AND this camper is waaaaaay better than the last one you saw! Bad ass journey and all worth it. Stoked for you man!
There's nothing outdated about that camper if nothing else it's better made than the ones they would make nowadays. I'm not sure why you think you could come up with a better layout but I would have concerns that you would alter the stability of the fiberglass shell itself by ripping out cabinets and refrigerators. I would change out the bedding curtains and cloth cushions clean that sucker up and take off.
I know how excited you must be on purchasing your Bigfoot camper, says the proud owner of a new to me 2003 Bigfoot 30 foot RV last year. Yes, I too searched high and low and found one in New Mexico and had to have my funds transferred from the east coast. It's more of a hassle than you can imagine. It was well worth it for the fit, finish, and quality workmanship. I'm sure you'll enjoy yours for years to come as I have.
RUBBER BED MAT! Congrats on the new camper....it is awesome. We finally took the plunge and bought a Northern Lite 2 yrs ago and love it. When you remove the wooden platform, be sure to add a rubber bedmat or a sheet of plywood. The rubber bed being preferred. Fiberglass will wear against metal so you wanna avoid that.
I have a 2001 Tacoma and am a big fan of 90s and early 2000s stuff because much of it was very well made and not too crazy prices. Congrats on the camper, it's amazement!!.
I think it's fabulous already inside. A stove that works ,fridge too. Priceless ! Your UNICORN has so many possibilities. Lots of "blank canvas" space already. Obviously it was well maintained & cared for. Thrilled for you ! ENJOY !
Jonhton congratulations on your camper. You wanted it you bought it don’t apologize for what you do to anybody. Enjoy it and keep up with your dream we all live thru you and a big thank you for taking us along.
I go to Vancouver Island often, as I live on the mainland and have friends and family on the island. I would definitely fan-girl if I saw Jonathan on the ferry! Welcome back ☺️
Congrats on your new rig Jonathan! I’ve got a suggestion for you. Instead of using a wood platform or rubber mat to create space between the camper and the truck, look into using a big piece of 2in thick foam board insulation. That’s what I’m using between my camper and truck. It has multiple benefits. The foam board will likely support the distributed weight, it’s super light weight, cheap and insulates your floor. I camp in mine down to -22f and I can attest to what a difference having that sheet of foam board makes on the floor. You can paint the end white to match your truck.
Awesome! So happy that you held off on the one with the rot and that this camper of your dreams arrived just in time. The fiberglass clam shell design will give you the peace of mind of not having to worry about rot or water intrusion for so many years to come. It was also so cool that they took you into their home for the night, seemed like really good people and I personally like it when I purchase something that I love, and as an extra bonus, it comes with that great energy. Congratulations and Happy Trails Jonathan!
Seems pretty fantastic inside to me as it is . I’ve lived in tons of much older caravans so that interior looks fine to me . You enjoy your new camper 👍
Love that you have this type of camper again and love love love the fan too that you pop out of in the mornings congrats to you! May the adventures begin !!! Also, why didn’t you camp while you were in Canada ? So pretty
From the ditch to the mountain top in just a moment...Now you have a "real camper," brother! Congrats....dreams do come true! Watch out for those 'unicorns!' They just sneak up on you!
I'm always "stoked" to see you and to join you on adventures. The camper looks in such good condition; those nice people really took care of it! Can't wait to see what you do to and with your new rolling home!
Congrats on the new camper, I live on the sunshine coast where you came and got the camper! Our ferry system is honestly terrible and I am sorry you had to deal with it😂
Wow... What a story!... IMHO it looks great inside. I would be very comfy in an RV like this. Can't wait to see how this chapter evolves. Canadian people are so nice... hugs to them too!... oh I like the bigfoot logo... hahaha
So HAPPY for you! You're correct about having a fiberglass construction shell, yes, very good 👍. Casta pull behind trailer campers, Oliver campers, several make them in the trailer styles and they are prized fines on the retail markets. Oftentimes you'll see them with carpeted walls and ceilings for added insulation and for soundproofing... however it's not always great when you see that because fiberglass can be a condensation magnet so be aware of that when you're remodeling your new-to-you camper/home. There is a web based group for fiberglass campers only! They have annual meet-ups and something to check-out for great info. There is also a teardrop camper (really small one) that is currently made and it's a great one so there are RVING dealerships that can help on advice and parts resources to tap into for all your remodeling updates. Well then, can't wait to see what you have in store for your SWEET new camper/home! I know it'll be really 😎.
I love the way you told the story and enjoyed going on the journey to get the camper. This is a video I could rewatch. Can't wait to see how you renovate the camper.
The space between the truck cab roof and camper is a good space for a solar panel on rail slide-out that can double as shade for the truck cab when in hot climates. The space in front of and behind the wheel wells can hold a flexible bag for fluid storage. Lots of space under the truck chassis. For people to remain satisfied with truck campers I think they need to utilize all space available, which means measurement in mm. Design is everything. Best of luck. I am designing a 16'ft over-cab all aluminum box truck for full-time off-grid living. I will be building it in 2-3 years.
Life requires a little crazy (sometimes a lot). Bigfoot is quality and I've heard the insulation is 4 season. It's in great condition and I kinda dig the retro upholstery/curtains. But I'm sure whatever you do will be great. Congrats! That's a solid buy (and a very entertaining story/video!) 😊
Oh man! I was scoping out this exact trailer on craigslist, came to UA-cam to look for reviews on it and find that you have just bought the one I was looking at. 😊 I hope you enjoy it
It is always best to shop around & buy 2nd hand from someone who took good care of what ever you are looking for. You say this camper is nothing special. It is special because it offers you the basic necessities. Throw in a Port-A-Potty & you are living the dream. The folks you bought it from showed you their hospitality. That saved you from waking up in the middle of the night in a rainstorm & running for the cover of the cab of your truck. I'm glad things worked out & you were able to get what you were after & don't worry about what you paid for it, you have it now & enjoy it.
That’s awesome Jonathan Yentch! Hopefully manufacturers can begin building/making these kinds of truck bed campers again if they haven’t started already. These would be good to have if you don’t want to tow a camper behind your truck 🛻 and it would be better than a collapsible pop-up tent/rooftop/truck bed shelter! It’ll be interesting to see what you do to make this uniquely yours. Just be sure to check out the body especially the roof and around the a/c etc. and fix any soft spots in the fiberglass. Enjoy! Happy camping and be safe!
congrats on the new setup it looks great on your truck and for the couple you got it from for taking you in their home was so sweet not many people would do that for a stranger
congrats man, been through the journey of your first truck camper and all the subsequent ones after and this looks like it will hopefully serve you well....i also just bought my first camper, its a 1996 fleetwood wilderness 30 5x....got an amazing deal on it and have had it for about 4 months now, and next couple of years, going to be doing some renovations and remodeling it....for the age, the owners took amazing care of it and i couldnt be happier
It is beautiful, Jonny! Congratulations on your additional equipment to your truck. Nice to have this camper. I agree with previous poster ... Don't DIY unless you get professional tech to upgrade your motorhome. ❤️❤️❤️
I like it without changes, it’s a nice camper just the way it is. I can see a new mattress and maybe comforter & curtains in your favorite color but basically it’s a great camper, like the sofa-table space and three burners is awesome good. Good buy!
Cabinet doors look to be in pretty good shape. I wouldn't do much to it except change the fabric stuff maybe. Maybe paint the heater vent and stove hood. I guess you could paint the cabinets a grey or something but sometimes that can make it look way worse. Overall I think it's great and if there is ever a leak or crack you could probably fix it really good with some fiberglass cloth and resin. I guess working on it will make good content but I'd probably just enjoy it pretty much as is. I mean... I might install a 40" screen, a solar panel or two, an air conditioner, an instapot and a microwave, and maybe put an ebike in the hallway or on the sofa while not in use. Point is I'd work on function over looks. A fishing rod holder. Maybe a 10kwh battery bank to run AC all night. We spend so much on comfort and luxury items but we won't spend a few grand to stay cool all summer long for years. True, it may make you want to stay inside but at least you'll be able to sleep at night and not be all sticky hot and want to leave. For me climate control is priority one.
Your truly a gentleman in every fashion with that said you deserve this awesome truck camper … look forward to watching each and every new upcoming video !!!
On your way back to the US. Border Officer: How was Canda, Mr Yentch? Jonathan: Awesome! I went to Canada, found BIGFOOT and now I'm bringing him home in the back of my truck. 🤣
That's a huge upgrade (Bigfoot) over the ( Slumber Queen) inside and out, totally worth the money. Don't DIY the inside - that will destroy it's value to the next owner. It's worth money, upgrade it - don't personalize it; unless it's professionally done. 😎😎
I'm willing to bet he's not gonna care about destroying the value. I can see him outfitting it to fit his personal needs. Why would he go through all this effort, pay the money he paid just to sit on it the way it came. 👎🏻
My first one was a 97 Northern Lite 8.6 for mid size pickups. Put it on a Dakota. Check with the owners whether they resealed the windows. They would need it by now. Also Eternabond tape for sealing the roof hatches is great. Enjoy!
I personally like your new camper as is. Little cleaning, throw a bit of your colors in it and your personal stuff, get on the road. The response you paid so much is because it's beautiful and original, great bones, etc. I love it as it is.. love the colors too...
Oh man bro! Niiice!!! So glad to see the new rig. You're absolutely right about the fiberglass and the market for those. You got a unicorn for sure. CONGRATULATIONS!!! Can't wait to see the innovations you get into with this in the future... Stay safe! 😎👍 (My TC is 91' rare Host Cascade top tier. The 90's had some old but gold ya know ✨️)

pretty common in Canada to be honest
@@Nate-Dogggg 2nd that. There's a reason why for that popular stereotype about Canadians
I run into people like this very often and always have.

You made an excellent choice. 🤙
Hell yeah! Congrats and stoked for you! Can't wait to see your future adventure videos with this camper!
That was very generous of the seller to offer some hospitality! I tip my hat to them.
The renovation will be fun to watch
What did I tell you my dude??? See! AND this camper is waaaaaay better than the last one you saw! Bad ass journey and all worth it. Stoked for you man!
You nailed it. That is the rig for you and your channel
Man, it is sweet, I wouldn’t do a thing, love it. Good find. Good luck.
Heck yeah!!!!! Congrats on the new truck camper. Looking forward to future camping videos!
I have a 2001 Tacoma and am a big fan of 90s and early 2000s stuff because much of it was very well made and not too crazy prices. Congrats on the camper, it's amazement!!.
That's a nice looking camper, especially for your truck. I wish you the best in your adventures in the new digs.
Welcome back ☺️
Hey man congrats on the new camper. And please keep making videos this way... very chill, low key, and honest
😲 *My face as soon as I saw the thumbnail!!!!! 😳💕👍
Enjoy it
Great find
Excellent purchase. Bigfoot lasts for a lifetime. Every penny you put into it will be worth it. I'm hoping you take us with on the rebuild.
Good one - you got "the camper" you really wanted. Looking forward to seeing what you do with the interior.
I'm happy for you bro.... it's always nice see someone happy.... you deserve.
Seems pretty fantastic inside to me as it is . I’ve lived in tons of much older caravans so that interior looks fine to me . You enjoy your new camper 👍
I'm pumped for you and the new content you'll bringing to the UA-cam. Thanks again for sharing and congratulations
Thank you 🙏🏼 for sharing this adventure with us. ❤
It was so nice that they invited you into your home for the night.
Congratulations on your new camper. Enjoy your new journey and God bless you.
Good harvest man. Looking forward to seeing camping adventures in your new rig.
This is a genius camper! I can't wait for the next video and more to come.
Oh man! I was scoping out this exact trailer on craigslist, came to UA-cam to look for reviews on it and find that you have just bought the one I was looking at. 😊 I hope you enjoy it
I'm not looking to buy one, i have a Tacoma and am thinking trailer instead... but curious what you use to search for these? bigfoot M-15-C-6.11?
Glad you finally got “the one!” I’m looking forward to watching your new adventures.
congrats on the new setup it looks great on your truck and for the couple you got it from for taking you in their home was so sweet not many people would do that for a stranger
Canadians are laid-back people, like those in Wisconsin USA
@@ketoauntie7301 need more people like that in this world
Congratulations, dude.
congrats man, been through the journey of your first truck camper and all the subsequent ones after and this looks like it will hopefully serve you well....i also just bought my first camper, its a 1996 fleetwood wilderness 30 5x....got an amazing deal on it and have had it for about 4 months now, and next couple of years, going to be doing some renovations and remodeling it....for the age, the owners took amazing care of it and i couldnt be happier
Congrats!
Jonathan, I love your camper as it is. Even if you don't change anything it's perfect.
Good buy!
Congratulations on the new camper! I always enjoy your videos & will be looking forward to what you do to renovate your new space.
Beautiful camper will love to see what you do with it
Cabinet doors look to be in pretty good shape.
Jonathan.. I'm so happy for you & I can't wait to see what you do with it...
Man what a journey seeing you find the right camper and finally getting it can’t wait too see how it turns out always a good time seei by your videos
Good things come to those who wait, it finally happened
That's a huge upgrade (Bigfoot) over the ( Slumber Queen) inside and out, totally worth the money. Don't DIY the inside - that will destroy it's value to the next owner. It's worth money, upgrade it - don't personalize it; unless it's professionally done. 😎😎
That's what I was thinking.
I agree with you, @DJ Molly. Spot on correct 💯👍🎯
This is more of a forever camper, so I doubt he’s looking to sell it in the future
Strongly disagree. I have one, gutted it and did small Reno’s and I’ve had people ask to buy it multiple times.
I'm willing to bet he's not gonna care about destroying the value. I can see him outfitting it to fit his personal needs. Why would he go through all this effort, pay the money he paid just to sit on it the way it came. 👎🏻
Congrats on the new Shaggin wagon.
So happy you were able to find your dream camper! I can't wait to see the adventures to follow 💜
My first one was a 97 Northern Lite 8.6 for mid size pickups. Put it on a Dakota. Check with the owners whether they resealed the windows. They would need it by now. Also Eternabond tape for sealing the roof hatches is great. Enjoy!
As a parts/service tech for RVs I would say you made a good choice with fiberglass over most other camper design's. Pacific NW is hard on them.
Stay safe! 😎👍
(My TC is 91' rare Host Cascade top tier. The 90's had some old but gold ya know ✨️)
Johnathan, you now have a very nice BIG project to accomplish! Will be great to see your progress.
