    In this video, you will learn about more appliances you should never buy. As the list descends, the consequences of these purchases will become more serious. You will also see some better alternatives that you should consider instead of the appliances mentioned in this video.
    Many of these problems are annoying yet manageable. You can buy a Bespoke refrigerator and love the style at least initially.
    My mom's single evaporator refrigerator always seemed to work even though twin evaporator models are better at the same price.
    Be careful with unique special order appliances. Make sure there aren't similar yet more available options before you order anything special.
    However, venting is a big issue. Plan your kitchen ventilation well, as it will go a long way to enjoying your kitchen and the rest of your home.
    Remember, specifying the right appliances means you are halfway there.
    What happens after your purchase: installation, service, and delivery are in many ways more important.

    I know it's such a specific niche, but you're my favorite appliance youtuber, and I don't even know your name! I've been watching your videos religiously as we've been planning and building our new home for the last year! Such a wealth of information, you could probably branch out and do UA-cam full time and monetize it, and fill a much needed information gap on appliances in the influencer space!

    Just purchased the new version of the Bespoke refrigerator. The panels were $400 total for all 4 & my husband installed the panels with in 10 minutes of it being delivered. We LOVE the beverage center and family hub feature. 😊

    I remember our dish washer came with interchangeable door panels….white, black, wood tone, beige..they stored in the door. I would imagine that a matching veneer could also be used. Silk screened magnetic panels would be a quick colorful change for your fridge.

    Samsung fixed and updated all their fridge issues in the Bespoke models. I haven't seen any issues yet. Ice maker is no longer in the fridge and the defrost/evaporator have been updated. All Bespoke models are made in Korea.

    For me, the over-the-range microwave is more about space saving than anything else. We'd be giving up nearly 1/3 of our counter space for a countertop model. We also don't have attic access in this part of our home to install a roof exhaust channel, so we have to rely on the recirculation/filtering aspect of the appliance. We never even pan-fry anything, much less deep fry, so we generally don't make much that requires exhaust, anyway, so the over-the microwave works for us, with one exception: my girlfriend is 5'0", so she can't use it as safely as I can, and one of the reasons we're not paying attention to depth for the oven we're in the market for currently.

      I like my microwave on its own shelf within a cabinet run. Shorter than over the cook top and leaves plenty of counter space. However, I use a fairly small one. That might not appeal to others.

      I can't find another home for Chef Mike. Any other location will cost too much countertop or cabinet space.
      I'm redesigning the kitchen with some serious constraints unless I want to blow the budget on structural modifications and cook on a card table and a hotplate.
      I may be able to widen the 27-inch wide door to 32 inches and the 32-inch door to 48, but the lay-out of the galley and adjacent rooms won't allow anything else.

      Hope I'm not too late but you should avoid Samsung and LG fridges as they're not reliable. There's an appliance repair technician on UA-cam who gets in a LOT of Samsung stuff to repair as they're just not built to last. He recommended GE fridges specifically (including the Cafe line), but only the fridges.

    Refrigerators can be your focal point. Reality is your perception. Remember that folks. Don’t just listen to someone blindly. There’s many beautiful kitchens online that use the refrigerator as a focal point. You use it more than any other appliance as well! It’s also the largest appliance.

    • @YaleAppliance1
      @YaleAppliance1  Рік тому

      Absolutely think about what is important to you and what you will use. That said, the best designers plan the cooktop, sink, and dishwasher in the middle....Its convenient when you think how you cook.
      Also if you burn something, you will naturally look for the sink anyway.
      Although you can always place a secondary refrigerator in the middle, do whats right for the way you use your appliances and kitchen

    What do you think of LG's ExtendaVent over-the-range microwave ovens? (I understand it did well at the CES 2022). I love to get a proper range vent. However, I don't have enough counter space for a microwave. I cook simply and have a simple gas range and electric oven.

    • @YaleAppliance1
      @YaleAppliance1  Рік тому +2

      The ExtendaVent 2.0 will give you just a bit more ventilation in terms of capture area. That said it's still an over-the-range microwave and the venting is underpowered. But having it extend over the front two burners where most people cook is a good idea.

      I had a crazy idea, and I don't have to please anyone but myself. I can place Chef Mike above the cooktop as God has ordained, and there is enough space between him and the ceiling to install a vent hood above, and there is an existing vent duct for the old hood.

    So-you say never buy a counter depth Fridge but if you have a SMALL kitchen, you likely cannot place a fridge that's 35-36" deep. What then and where do I put my microwave as well? I was hoping for some guidance? Lastly, I would like to understand how CR, Mechanics Illustrated, Bob Villa, CNET, NYT, US News , and your site , etc., can't agree on the best French door fridge? Thanks-and, Ps: call me lost in the appliance store-just like be trapped in IKEA.

      I can't say how they come up with the models they determine to be the best in their reviews, but I can say none of those other review sites consider service when making recommendations. As none of them are a servicer of these appliances. But you raise a good point. You need to read many different viewpoints to determine what's best for you. No one review or education site has it all figured out. Including us. In terms of your counter depth question in a small space, then sure if you can't get the extra depth in your kitchen then counter depth would be the way to go. But if given the option, standard depth gives you more storage and usually costs less.

    • @shank296
      @shank296 2 роки тому +1

      That video was taken a bit out of context. I love CD refrigerators. Definitely buy one for your kitchen. CR, Mechanics, Bob Villa don't have to fix these refrigerators like we do at a loss. So reliability is more important for Yale than the others

    Many people cover their fridges with magnets, photos, calenders, etc. Saying they are not the focal point of a kitchen is kind of bonkers. You can also buy the Bespoke models with pre-installed panels and normal colors like white or stainless. You're making a form over function argument which is the essence of bad design.

    • @YaleAppliance1
      @YaleAppliance1  Рік тому

      Funny, my refrigerator is covered with my daughters schedule. In classic kitchen design, the stove is the focal point.
      You are stirring, baking, etc. They should have more colors in the stove not the fridge.
      It won't matter soon anyway. LG and a few others will have light changing colors on their refrigerators.
