Don't forget about vent hood width! Vent hood width should be 6" wider than the range width (so a 3" overhang on each side). 30 inch range hood will not vent to spec for a 30 inch wide range.
I want to say thank you for your videos. I am about 18 mos away from my own remodel. I have been watching for a while. I have been taking plenty of notes !😂. I have learned a lot and have tried passing on what I’ve learned to my parents as they’re in the middle of a new build. So between your videos and irl construction 🚧 I have learned and taken into consideration many things I wouldn’t have before. Keep up the good work ❤🎉😊
What a nice comment, thank you! ☺️ I’ll be recording new videos starting this weekend again! I had to take a little break for moving into a new building and visiting family in Germany but it’s comments like this that are really motivating 🙏
@@TheMaterialBar you are the best I have been looking for a plan on how to make my new kitchen functional and beautiful and all the DIY videos I found were not giving me the answer and their plan was to just “wing it” and that is not what I am looking for 🤷🏻♀️ God bless and keep up your videos are very informative I have been watching them none stop for four hours straight😂. Have a nice safe trip👍
Thank you for your detailed videos, Kerstin. I am shifting job titles and pursuing cabinet design and sales after being a project manager for my employer in TN, and these are very helpful!
Thank you for the great videos. Puzzled about the kitchen behind you. The sink facing a wall and the range under a window? Not first time I’ve seen a range under a window. Would not be my choice but maybe I’m missing something. Can you comment? Thank you.
Hi and thanks for watching!! Yes, this was my personal project and an investment home. I wasn't trying to spend a ton of extra money on moving all of the plumbing and the sink originally was located in that location. The range was on a half wall where I now have the seating area and I've changed to a wrap around kitchen. The range I purchased had an integrated downdraft. Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks!
Great idea to have the specific appliances listed on the plan. If you do a deeper vid dive on an area in the future, fridges might be a good topic… not just surround specs, but swing and opening requirements. Esp if people aren’t visual or detail thinkers, it seems to be a hard topic for folks to understand the implications of in advance.
Hi Kersten, Thank you for your videos. They have helped me understand what is ahead of me with my upcoming kitchen remodel. ❤ I am considering putting a slide in stove in a newly constructed island. The ceiling will not facilitate a hood. Would you share the model of stove you have in this video? (and maybe the faucet fixture). Also, I’m in Alaska and was wondering if you have branched out to places other than the Seattle area? Thank you again for putting these videos out.
Hi, and thank you so much for watching!! I am currently only located in the Seattle / Tacoma area. I believe there are only 2 slide in ranges in the market that come with an integraded downdraft. The one I used is from Jennair Model #JES1750FS. I do not have the model number on file anymore for the faucet as it was a gift from one of my suppliers "Fergusons" I believe it was from Waterworks in a brushed brass finish. Good luck on your remodel!! 🙂
My kitchen is 26 years old. Was here when we moved in. Custom cherry wood cabinets in like new condition. They only need some deep cleaning but I am so tired of them 😂. They don’t match our house decor anymore. The problem is I can’t afford the new custom, wooden cabinets. I have no idea what to do.
Hi and thank you for watching! I know for us we carry several different cabinet lines to be able to work with different project budgets. I'd say working up a project estimate with your suppliers is a good way to start. With labor rising in most parts of the country I have found the cost of new cabinets and demo + install vs. refacing existing cabinets is getting really close to each other and we have more people wanting to replace to brand new cabinets. We're also working on a financing program, so maybe somebody doesn't want to finance the whole project but financing some like the cabinet package and getting what you want can make sense for a lot of people. Take care!!
cute doggy...i have a terrier mix..14# ... pictures would help with understanding your point..samples is always great! such as pictures with text would help drive the point across..i know its more time consuming usually i am multi tasking and get lost in the conversation...=-D
OK I'll keep in mind thanks!! We're trying to incorporate using the Ipad and circling things on the screen more in future videos to help get those points accross!!
Thanks for watching Pat! Jup, it's not the most preferred but sometimes it's the only thing that works. I do prefer sitting the microwave in a different spot if possible, I agree!!
Remodeling can be such an insane headache when you don't know what you are doing. From picking wrong finishes, not having a well thought through space plan to hiring bad installers. This is why anybody about to invest all this money into their project need to focus on finding a good quality partner! Just started the process of kitchen remodel and have been binge watching your videos.
Thank you!! That is awesome, I am working on lots of new content !! Good luck on your remodel!! 🙂

That is very true! We still see so many people though settling for the same width vent hood as their range...

Best channel to actually teach you how to measure and be accurate and stick to reality instead of going in a bluff

Also one about the typical"triangle" between appliances and the sink.

Great videos but it would be helpful for you to show some pictures for a reference.

I dont like the looks of a microwave above a range..

Remodeling is just too, too, much. I understand now why even when people have money, they don’t do it. 😢
