It took years to devlop the microbiota and organisms in the soil. Bioactive soil is valuable and the terrarium itself was a planet of life already! Starting from scratch would have been like starting a bioactive aquarium over again for fish keepers. It would be heart breaking losing all that beneficial microscoping life.

I just found your channel a couple of weeks ago and I just finished catching up with all your content from the Antiverse! Getting to vote for the first time on the Channel for this video is seriously something else. This is by far my favorite episode yet! And I thought I wouldn't like any other set up of the Hacienda Del Dorado from when the Praying Mantis was in there but you truly blew me away with this one. Seriously this is terrarium GOALS AF! I love being a part of the AC Family and I now truly feel like a part of it. The narration is as always is on point, the sound affect (apart from frog hopping overkill) blended so well, your world creation skills is truly polished and I loved seeing your mistakes too. That is such a huge way we learn from you might I add. Lastly who doesn't love frogs? Super cute and forever in love. NOT TO MENTION THEIR ARTIST NAMES AS PAINTED TOADS I'M DEAD. @@AntsCanada Hi AntsCanada, Would like to share my exprience as a fishguy. The silicone used for aquariumglass, would normally not bind with plastic. I made a chamberfilter out of a old aquarium, and al my plastic walls that i siliconed on the glass would get lose after a few days. So maybe look for special glue that binds plastic to glass. Te reason the aquariumsilicone is for glass because of the low PH in the glue it will burn into the glass. but not into the plastic. keep up to goodwork! hi from the Netherlands.

As a Biology major who specializes in amphibian studies, I can't imagine why somebody *_wouldn't_* want to watch a video about frogs in a terrarium. Also, I love the fact that you do serious research on everything you cover. You always know what you're saying is true, and it baffles me how much you can learn and do in just a couple weeks' time.
I love how the mite plague is literally just the plot of an apocalypse movie, with and ark to save a select population while the rest die out because of a newly introduced threat sent in to destroy the plague by a higher power
I am only afraid that the mites might survive the Cloverfield Project. I can hardly find any information on the subject but their life cycle seems very short and I'm afraid there might be a type of a hibernation stage. If that's not the case then any remaining mites should die off within 10 days of the last ant's death. I don't want to see them making a comeback when the #GoldenEmpire is released to reclaim their lands. The good news I DID find was that the risk of the mite plague spreading is low because they are specialized to feed on certain species. They might be entirely limited to feed on the Anoplolepis ants. There's also the question how the mites arrived in the first place.
They might evolve to attack frogs 👀 then we will be witnesses to the mite plague that made a jump from ants to frogs to humans lol 🤣 soon we will be itching and scratching zombies

You have a talent in making what people usually consider mundane into the most interesting thing ever! I can't believe I sat through an hour of this without getting bored, and that's saying something from someone with a very short attention span. I felt like I was watching an Animal Planet documentary, they really should hire you.
You know it might not be a bad idea to convert it into a frog habitat and create a new enviorment for the golden Empire. The reason I say that might be to error on caution in case a few mites manage to hang around after operation ground clover is complete. Plus I kind of like these painted toads so might be a win win.
I have been toying with this idea, especially because as people have been pointing out, it seems there already is a pretty established ant colony inside atm. Did you notice them?
@@AntsCanada now that it was pointed out yes. Would be a good food source for the toads. Maybe it could be semi self sustaining post operation cloverfield. Since there are already a lot of other micro life forms in the enclosure I think that might actually be the best bet. One the mites wont have a chance to spread and two the ant colony could hunt the spring tails and whatever else and the frogs could eat some of the ants. Seems feasible right?
I could see you being a mad scientist if you chose different routes in life. The amount of effort you put into giving creating and sustaining a good life for these little creatures, and then you find a natural humane way to deal with things with they go south. You also put out high quality entertaining videos. Great job! Keep it up!
I like these videos because of how unique they are. He takes his time to voice over the whole episode which in my opinion is amazing and I never get bored. I have never seen any videos like the ones from this channel
The final layer of silicone at the end looked like the tarantula's web! In all seriousness, it's uplifting to see the struggles and failures ( if "failure" is the right word) with these projects. In a world of photoshopped and carefully selected perfection, it's inspiring to see the challenges, and how you overcome them. It really inspires me to appreciate unexpected setbacks as new opportunities instead of losing heart.

I loved that you remember Bob Ross. One of the most amazing artists to appear on TV. His contribution to art is priceless because he alone is responsible for making millions around the world connect to art like no one before had. I think your mistake with the leaks was dealing with so many plastic pieces at once. Had you chosen a simple straight glass barrier like the one you introduced at the end, you would have an easier time building all this. I wonder how mite-free the terrarium will be even with the ants exterminated. I don't think I would ever feel safe introducing a new ant colony in the same soils.

Ok, there are definitely more appearances of these tiny ants, but in the video before this one at 29:51 you may be able to spot a tiny ant near a small white insect. Also, I kinda made a mistake in my last comment; the tiny ant in the angel of death video at 21:11 appears at the bottom middle instead of bottom right And guess what? There are more tiny ants in this video! Look at the bottom left coner at 10:01, you should definitely see something Like this so he can see this please

As a Biology major who specializes in amphibian studies, I can't imagine why somebody *_wouldn't_* want to watch a video about frogs in a terrarium. I can hardly find any information on the subject but their life cycle seems very short and I'm afraid there might be a type of a hibernation stage.
If that's not the case then any remaining mites should die off within 10 days of the last ant's death.
I don't want to see them making a comeback when the #GoldenEmpire is released to reclaim their lands.
The good news I DID find was that the risk of the mite plague spreading is low because they are specialized to feed on certain species. They might be entirely limited to feed on the Anoplolepis ants.
There's also the question how the mites arrived in the first place.

You know it might not be a bad idea to convert it into a frog habitat and create a new enviorment for the golden Empire. The reason I say that might be to error on caution in case a few mites manage to hang around after operation ground clover is complete. Plus I kind of like these painted toads so might be a win win.
I have been toying with this idea, especially because as people have been pointing out, it seems there already is a pretty established ant colony inside atm. Did you notice them?
@@AntsCanada now that it was pointed out yes. Would be a good food source for the toads. Maybe it could be semi self sustaining post operation cloverfield. Since there are already a lot of other micro life forms in the enclosure I think that might actually be the best bet. One the mites wont have a chance to spread and two the ant colony could hunt the spring tails and whatever else and the frogs could eat some of the ants. Seems feasible right?

I think your mistake with the leaks was dealing with so many plastic pieces at once. Had you chosen a simple straight glass barrier like the one you introduced at the end, you would have an easier time building all this. I wonder how mite-free the terrarium will be even with the ants exterminated. I don't think I would ever feel safe introducing a new ant colony in the same soils.
