    The bad news is there won’t be any subtitles in this video, the good news is I’m presenting in English. I noticed around 80% of the comments I get are in English so I gather that most my audience are English educated. Therefore, for this episode this is a test to see your reactions.     I am English Ed and prefer your vids in Cantonese. Some choice of words you used in Cantonese are funny and entertaining. And you formatted the vids by location is great. When I travel to a particular place/town I will view ur vid again before travel. Great work, Mr.Lee.

    Personally I prefer Cantonese since I'm used to listening to you speaking in the language. Furthermore, I feel like your vlog can help keep the language alive as I noticed a lot to of the newer generation slowly stop speaking the language 😌

    Elmo is so well rounder. Both English and Cantonese are spoken so fluently. From the presentation, i know you put in a lot of effort into giving your audience the most accurate Cantonese pronounciation..so my preference is still your Cantonese video

    I'm a native English speaker and don't understand Cantonese but I still enjoy watching your videos in Cantonese and reading the English subtitles 😊 I like languages so it's enjoyable to listen to different sounds. Like others have suggested, if you were to do more videos in English, it may be a good idea to have subtitles in Cantonese (and vice versa, if in spoken Cantonese, then written English subtitles and perhaps Malay also).
    I really enjoy the historical info that you share at the beginning of each episode so please do continue to do this, even though I imagine it's a lot of work.
    My husband suggests reviewing more than one food item in a particular establishment and including prices (I remember you mentioned in a previous video why you don't do this however).
    We always enjoy watching your videos and will continue to support you. It's not easy coming up with new content on a regular basis so I really appreciate the effort you go to. If we think of any ideas to suggest to you, I'll reach out!

      But to be honest, I am not really keen on featured food out of Klang Valley, also in obscure places that I might never get to visit.
      Though I am more comfortable with english I take your canto videos positively to expand my vocab. But there were times I got lost 😅哈哈哈

    I've gotten so used to watching your vlogs in Cantonese it felt strange watching it in English. It is like watching Cantonese movies dubbed in English. 😁 I am ok with anything. It is about the food.

    Hello, Happy Chinese New year of 2023. Thanks so much for introducing PJ old town which had been my childhood memory before I went to Taiwan Fo Guang Shan Monastery since age ten. Although English channel will attract more audience, my Mother tongue is Cantonese which what I had been speaking after being born in Malaysia.

    Don’t feel beat up n disheartened just because ur views has dropped. Personally I felt what actually distinct you from other UA-camrs (also the reason to why my family n I watch your channel always), mainly because you have your own style of narrating, sharing the history/ unknown stories for each episode which truly is eye opening.
    Personally felt both your English and Cantonese narration are good. English seems more proper “international” while the latter feel more “localised” close to heart like next door uncle. So it’s very much depending on which market group you are targeting so keep up the good work!! it’ll only just take 1 video to go viral so ur time will come!

    Hahahha ..... just saw this for the 1st time, love it! I sub to your channel a few months back and only saw your Cantonese videos.
    I do understand your need to switch to Cantonese but give it time bro, your channel will grow, just need to be able to reach out to a bigger audience. Maybe try switching between English and Cantonese. My Cantonese is not that good so sometimes I can't understand what you are saying in Cantonese but the English sub-titles makes it a lot better, I can brush up on my Cantonese in a way LOL
    TBH I didn't know if you could speak well in English until I saw this video. Love you content, I find your intro always very educational, with the history of the places you visit. Keep posting your videos and maybe work on your keywords more so you videos will appear on other viewers feed. All the best

    Thought I will give you some feedback. I am English educated with a conversational command of Cantonese. During the MCO periods, my wife and I truly enjoyed your videos and recommendations. As we live in PJ, the food recommendations were very relevant as many of the places recommended by you are within a short walking/driving range from home. We discovered new places we never knew existed, eg the Singapore Fried Hokkien Mee at Lucky Seventeen through your videos. So we found your show relevant.
    We also like how you gave a short history of the places you featured as it gave some context to the localities. Being a conversational Cantonese speaker, I also took it as an opportunity to improve my Cantonese skills. I recall the episode you did in Mandarin and I provided you with feedback then. Did not enjoy that episode at all, though I congratulate you on your language skills. So, I actually prefer your episodes in Cantonese as your show was relevant (locality) and provided me an opportunity to improve my Cantonese. English is fine, but I still prefer Cantonese. Perhaps you could try Mandarin again for places that are not Cantonese speaking to appeal to your Mandarin speaking audience, especially for places outside the Klang Valley and that are not so popular with Klang Valley folks as travel destinations.
    After the MCOs, you moved away from PJ to other places within and without the Klang Valley. The Ipoh and Penang episodes were interesting as we occassionally do go there on holidays. I also recall rewatching your Melaka episode the night before going there on a day trip. We did not watch your episodes on KL food eg Loke Yew Road, Cheras etc because we hardly ever go to that part of the Klang Valley, not even once a year. So, your show had no relevance to us. We cannot identify the places and won't go all the way there just to eat at some kopi shop when there is so much variety in PJ anyway. Telok Intan, Jenjarom etc are similar in nature since we don't go there either.
    I watched this episode because it featured PJ Old Town, a place we occassionally go to for our meals, and after watching this, I am tempted to try some of these recommendations. Thank you.

    Hi uncle Elmo, we enjoyed both languages. This episode ticked most of my "must eat" list of Old Town, especially the mutton satay and Peggy's ice kacang. Will try the Indian food list next time. Can't recall Kavitha's food cos we always march straight to get satay lol. Hope you're in good health, cheers.

    Hi Mr Lee, this is a fantastic video of my hometown, I felt like you were making it just for me! A pleasant surprise that you are speaking in English. although Ireally don't mind your Cantonese videos as I can hear more of the dialect since I now live overseas. It it smart of you to introduce a bit of variation (car review and change of language) as it may hopefully prompt the algorithm to boost viewership. Anyway, I was super excited to see familiar faces in this video, but was shocked and very sad to hear that our beloved char koay teow Uncle has passed away.. I am glad though that the koay teow soup seller is still going strong, and nice to see Peggy (ice kacang) our friend too. My daughter Cynthia is also a fan of your videos and she appreciates all the historical research and vintage photos that you show. Not to mention your extensive/expert editing also. Keep up the good work We hope to bump into you when we visit PJ in the near future!

    Even though most of us type in english , but I think we all still prefer cantonese which is spoken in the whole klang valley

    Hey Elmo! Thanking you again for your videos, they really are some of the best when it comes to highlighting the food and history of Malaysia!
    I am an English speaker and have absolutely no problems watching with your subtitles. I personally believe you should shoot and edit your videos the way you like it best, shows your character and passion 👍
    I'm actually going to Malaysia at the end of the year for a holiday, so I've been going through all your videos again just to study up and note down all the good places to try. Given I'm staying in KL, one wish was that there were more videos focussing on the KL food scene. I believe given that many tourists know and visit this city first, it would help your viewership too 👍

    Hi Elmo its great to see you back in PJ. Hope you will continue with more food explorations in PJ as there is so much good food in PJ and furthermore you started with PJ food. Perhaps you should limit your recommendations to 8 food stalls/outlets like what you did in the beginning so that you can zoom in on 8 food stalls/outlets that you feel is really good. As for your language presentation, personally I prefer your presentation in Cantonese with English subtitles. If you can add in Chinese subtitles, it may get you a wider audience. Looking forward to more videos of PJ food

    Even though my Cantonese is bad I prefer your videos in Cantonese with English subtitles. Recently your videos are about food from small towns which I have skipped. I like earlier videos about top 10 places in Klang Valley for a particular dish...

    Hi Elmo. I grew up in KL so you know what language I speak even though I attended English school. As to which side of the coin be ideal I would opt for Cantonese because one can feel the taste as you speak.

    Hi elmo..prefer you in cantonese version more..as I told u before I like the way you speak..I have learn a lot of cantonese from you in your video..hope to see your video in cantonese version in future...anyway English version is fine too but is all up to you..all the food you reccomended in Pj old town mostly are legendary stall owner whom run their bussiness at least 40years and above..hope you have an amazing days elmo

    Uncle do not be crestfallen with the YT algorithm, you have a big Asian audience that can understand your cantonese well. To satiate both audiences you can mix it up a bit meaning produce shows with Cantonese, Hokkien and english in NO particular order as this will attract more or at least a wider demographic. Honestly, your long time fans like myself do not mind at all even if we need to put up the closed caption and OR watch it a second time. I have always believe you were into more substance than anything else so for those who criticize you or your content(s) take it as a compliment rather than a critique. By the way, another winner of a video.

    I'm Hong Kongese, and I will have a travelling in Malaysia for 1 month from April 23, 2023. And I will stay in PJ as my 1st station. I just want to have experience life wherever I stay in Malaysla. I want to get friends over there. Is possible I can visit you next week?

    Hi Elmo, as a long time viewer, IMHO the reduction in viewership is due to the change in subject from dish focused (e.g. Best pan mee) to location focused (e.g. Best of PJ Old town). For example, I wasn't interested to know what's best in Salak South cause I know I wouldn't travel there. So, applying that theory, the number of viewers interested in such videos would be geographically limited.
    Btw, preference is Cantonese although I'm an English speaker as I feel you sound friendlier!
    Will continue to support your channel regardless. Keep it up!

    Spot on for these few places, old style and taste .
    You'd left out BKT Heng Kee had shifted it's stall , right opposite the former . So it's not difficult to find them. Fortunately, all taste had remained and lost none .

    I don't really think switching to English will make much difference when you have subtitles on your videos in the past. If you're more used to talking in Cantonese, then go ahead. Since you have subtitles, international audiences can still reach you. Given the fact also you've been presenting majorly Chinese cuisines, it feels a bit more natural to hear you in Cantonese.
    But in nutshell, yeah either way is good so long as there are Chinese/English subtitles.

    I'm OK in English. However, I still prefer in cantonese b'coz it make me more comfortable in listening and furthermore, the name of the foods that you introduced are mainly in cantonese / Hokien name's.

    Enjoy your videos Elmo. I think it doesn’t matter what language you speak, everyone is coming for the food and your spin on it. Though as i only speak English, it was easier for me to consume your videos without having to read subtitles. A lot of channels now do different languages of the same channel, i.e mandarin etc. Maybe something to think about in the future. Keep up the good work! Looking forward to more videos.

    Well done with the English version! I thought you were the typical cina who speaks cantonese only.. haha! I am well aware that Cantonese is an ancient language even older than Mandarin itself. So keep it going with the Cantonese versions. I am a banana but have grown up with people who speak canto and mandarin over the years. keep up the great work Elmo!

    hi Uncle Elmo. In all honesty, I still much prefer Cantonese although I do not understand much of what you say 😂 Had to rely on the subtitle but i thoroughly enjoy it to say the least. May I suggest putting the price for each of the dishes you tried

    I prefer your videos in Cantonese as it gives of a more natural & friendlier vibe. Your naration in English feels like you are awkwardly reading a script and gives of a more "atas" vibe.

    Old Town Medan Selera:
    Peggy's - Very good ice kacang and best service.
    Thoo Yuen - Satay taste very so so. Tiny skewers and very pricey!
    Tian Tian Lai BKT is best in PJ and one of the best in Klang Valley. Very good pricing as well over the years. Great taste, portion and quality of meat. Heng Kee BKT is no where close. They haven't been good for ages.
    Kie Kee Chicken Rice is best in PJ and one of the best places for chicken rice in Klang Valley. Prices is reasonable but Kah Liew can be a lot more.
    Seong Kee is very so so in taste for me (sorry). And their prices is over the roof! Exorbitant even if they were at a very nice shop. Please remember the rental in this government establishment is only Rm100 a month last i checked.
    English segments are OK though I miss the Cantonese ones considering the genre. As long as you don't go Mandarin (No good reasons too anyway), I'll be looking forward to watching your channel

    Hi Elmo, No doubt your English presentation is good but I am more used to your Cantonese version. Somehow, I can relate more to your Cantonese presentation as it give a more local feel esp when it comes to food.

Next , speaking in English or cantonese , does not effect my support for your channel , i only miss the " cantonese punch line " if certain food or services is bad . As for the food review this time around ... i fully agree with you as i have tasted all of it personally . The food shown is absolutely delicious and agree with heng kee BKT .. too commercialize and salty for my liking . Keep posting and eating fantastic food ...thank you

    How will you translate "umami" in Cantonese?
    Most Malaysians cannot speak such high standard English language as you nowadays. Good job Mr Lee.
    Maybe you can start doing unboxing videos for electronic gadgets in English and keep the food videos in Cantonese.

    English is absolutely fine. But so is Hokkien, Cantonese and Mandarin. Whatever you're comfortable with. Most importantly is that the recommendations are good. Hidden gems would be the best kind of recommendation.

    Mr. Lee keep up with your own style, hope the response will gradually improve. To me your Cantonese presentation is much more spontaneous. Presenting in English is more formal in a way.
