@@ivananda865ccinterceptor I meant to add it's clear that the bike has torque in spades. Overtaking without the need to knock it down a cog - just open that throttle a tad and boom - you're gone. That's the kind of riding I like to do..
@pippiperade4030 It's geared higher than factory as well. Factory setups have 15 tooth front sprocket, I changed mine to a 17 tooth. I still would like to gear it up more. But I'll wait until I do my 950cc stroker build in the near future.

You have a great bike to learn on.I don't know how good and bad your riding skill is.If your a beginner rider, Watch other cars on the road always ride like your not there as people have a hard time seeing bikes.Watch your speed around corners at speed, Bikes will go wide if going to fast or if you've taken corner wrong.Don't slam on you front brakes a specially around the bends, You don't want to upset the balance of the bike.If bad things happen while riding which it will, Keep your shit together and don't panic. I had a truck pull in front of me while riding at 100kpm down a hill on some twisty with no were to go.I hit the rear brakes along with the front brake and smashed down though the gears. I slowed the bike very quickly. I think if i panicked things may had ended differently. If your an skilled rider you'll already know this.

Definitely fun bikes, I haven't had any major issues with mine. Just little annoying things. That famous saying you get what you pay for. When I do my 950cc stroker upgrade, I'll be redoing all the engine electric components, Fuel pump,ecu, etc, basically removing all the factory setup.
At what mileage do you have transmission failure? First I've heard of something like this but you would seem to be a major failure but no one talks about it..
I haven't looked in to much in the new Shotgun as they are still not available yet here in NZ. If i was looking at getting a new bike it would mostly be a duel sport. I will be upgrading my Interceptor to a 950cc in the near future. For the money sent on the big bore kits for the twins 650's you can get much better bike in other brands, but there something really addictive about the big bore twins.

Did you tune the idle down or does it idle that low naturally with the bigger displacement? Idle seems about 200pm lower than standard and it sounds lovely
I haven't turned down the idle I don't think the person who tuned my bike did either but i could be wrong. I myself love the sound of the bike, Its sounds a lot better in person.
Yes, it's definitely a great platform to learn on as I have done. I do think it's a little heavy. I would recommend getting a lighter bike if you haven't ridden a bike before.

I'm about 88kg's and I have no problem with the bikes weight. Go to a bike shop jump on a bike and see how you feel about it. Remember a bike is super easy to move on the flat, In the real world, that's another thing. Learning to ride is the best thing you'll ever do. They are so good for the mind.
Compared to most older similar size bikes, this this bike is positively light by comparison. Yeah maybe a bit heavy compared to a sports bike like an R6 but compared to other bikes of the same size the centre of gravity feels really low. To put it into context, I ride my Continental in London every day in heavy traffic, the wheelbase is so short it easily keeps up with scooters in and out of traffic. 👍

yes there is a engine mod which is called big bore kit for the interceptor or continental bikes, you can know more about it on google..!! it is basically a conversion kit from 650cc into 865cc.
I haven't been over 140kpm on my bike as the roads aren't suitable for high speeds where I live, It's not really engine power that determines top speed (it does help) It's more gearing that determines that. I am looking it making a video showing the top speed of this bike, but it may take some time to make.
@@ivananda865ccinterceptor Nope buddy. The top speed of a vehicle primarily depends on BHP and Aerodynamic drag only. At one point BHP generated by the vehicle is not sufficient to counter the opposing power of wind drag and that is the top speed. According to your dyno BHP figures (64 bhp), I guess the top speed should be between 195-200 kmph in neutral wind conditions.
@@AyushSingh-zw2nw However, if you redline in top gear while you still have plenty of power then that will prevent you from going much faster unless you change gearing.
Personally, I haven't had any issues with my motor, I'm not aware of any known issues apart from seeping oil near the heads, which mine does. I think you should really enjoy these bikes before considering the big bore kits, as there are better bikes to be had for the money. As for long term use I've had my big bore kit installed for nearly two years and it's still going fantastic.

I take off easy to save the clutch and to avoid lifting the front wheel off the road. I can take off quickly from a stand still, but it's not worth the extra wear on components, I've already replaced a warped clutch plate.

I actually don't like the sound of this bike. It's like if it was just screaming instead of singing. There is a huge difference between a loud exhaust, and a good sounding exhaust note.
We all have different taste, I like the sound of it. In real life the bike sounds a lot deeper in person. The engine is more of a race motor than a road motor.

@frankmarkovcijr5459 I've never owned or ridden a mid too high performance Japanese motorcycle as I'm still going through getting my motorcycle license. My end goal is to own a four cylinder Japanese bike of some sorts. I will always own my Interceptor as that bike always puts me in my happy place. It's a blast to ride, It's perfect for someone like me as the 650cc is too slow, and the 865cc has the right amount of power to suit my riding skill. In the near future, I will be upgrading my Interceptor to the 950cc and chasing the 100hp mark.

Yes, it does have the big valve,big port head. I will do the 950cc stroker in the near future.

I have a complete exhaust. It's a free flow system, so it is on the loud side, but I haven't been pulled over by the police yet.

Nice bike no doubt, the million dollar question though is - is it worth throwing all that money on a R.E. as opposed to getting a more powerful bike in the first place? :)
Thanks, That really depends on your needs, For most people mostly likely no as there are much better bikes for the money. If you love the Interceptor's soulful vibe and want it to have more power? Yes it's worth it. Here's my view about my bike.

Yes they should be, I hope they keep the 650's going as there are a great first bike for people wanting a little more power than a smaller cc rated bike.

I actually don't like the sound of this bike. It's like if it was just screaming instead of singing. There is a huge difference between a loud exhaust, and a good sounding exhaust note.
We all have different taste, I like the sound of it. In real life the bike sounds a lot deeper in person. The engine is more of a race motor than a road motor.

@frankmarkovcijr5459 I've never owned or ridden a mid too high performance Japanese motorcycle as I'm still going through getting my motorcycle license. My end goal is to own a four cylinder Japanese bike of some sorts. I will always own my Interceptor as that bike always puts me in my happy place. It's a blast to ride, It's perfect for someone like me as the 650cc is too slow, and the 865cc has the right amount of power to suit my riding skill. In the near future, I will be upgrading my Interceptor to the 950cc and chasing the 100hp mark.
