1991 TOP’s amazing! Drummer Russ McKinnon definitely had the Garibaldi funk syncopation groove down!
SOUND SO GOOD LIVE IN 1991 IT WAS IAM LISTENING IN 2020 STILL SOUNDING SO AMAZING . YOU CAN HEAR ALL THE INSTRUMENTS.
Perfect sound for live PERFORMANCE.. INCREDIBLE SOUND IN 1992
Awesome band and Russ McKinnon on drums rocks!
You are correct! Russ takes a backseat to no one. David is the original and Russ occupied the throne extremely well. He's had a nice career too.
I know I might get some heat for this...but Tom Bowes is my favorite TOP vocalist to date!
MinasPraSempre Each to his own. I'm not too fond of him on "Soul Vaccination," but he absolutely kills on other songs!
afterpodcast 1991 was a good year for TOP. They had no record deal since the late 1970s, when they were dropped by Columbia Records, and they had recently been signed by Epic Records. I would say demos with Tom, had something to do with that.
One of my favs
Best funk in the history of music. Yea baby! I need a vaccination. Thank you for keeping it alive guys. Luv ya
No one can give David Garibaldi a run for it.
Russ McKinnon admits this ... A top job from him sitting in while DG was away!
Did some sessions playing bass with the TOP brass section at Bell Studios in New York. They sight-read their parts and we didn't do more than two takes for every song. Great players.
Tom Bowes & company...one of my all time favorite lineups!!
Wow Euge Groove on tenor sax, Greg Adams on trumpet..This was a great band!!!
Yeah, never saw them with this drummer, smoking!
Great doing as already mentioned. Sound guys were on point!!
Amazing BASS LINE FROM AWESOME ROCCO AND THE DRUMMING OF ROSS INCREDIBLE ENERGY... TOM BOWES STRONG VOCALS.. ALSO SAX SOLO OF STEVE ALL INCREDIBLE MUSIC FROM T.O.P. NOW I NEED SOUL VACCINATION IN THIS DELTA PANDEMIC
open air CONCERT WAS HARD FOR THE SOUND .. THEY MANAGED TO PRODUCE SUCH A CLEAR AND BIG SOUNDS .. AMAZING AUDIO ENGINEERING...FANTASTIC VOCALS... HARMONIES AND BRASS SOUNDS.. AMAZING .. 👍👌☝️😍🥰🥰
Very tight BAND T.O.P . LIVE AS GOOD AS RECORDING AMAZING.. SKILLFUL INDIVIDUALS..TOM WAS AMAZING VOCALS
Funk on another dimension! RIP Rocco.
Best horns, vocals and background vocals they ever had .. well just the best overall lineup ever !
I hear you all....but Tom Bowes had his moments....I saw them live for the first time live in this version at 18 years of age....Holy Shit! The Hampton Casino Ballroom in New Hampshire......I agree that they are better now than they have ever been...but this version at my age turned me on to them and Lenny Pickett will never be replaced! Tom is great and Richard Elliot both close second!!!!
Power, this version is the best!!! it's so Live!!!
I recall being very happy with the sugar cube pink dot thing! Thank you guys!
If you still need the injection be sure it goes into the muscle and not bone. That hurts!
Just found this! Gotta shout out to Nick Milo on keyboards. One of the best in TOP lineage
Outstanding. All were on fire. The crowd was quiet though.
So great when Lee Thornberg played with Tower of Power!
Holy Horns.
Fantastic Soul Funk Band!!!
I love TOWER OF POWER
Tom Bowes bought me a drink at a Fab Faux show once. Sweet guy.

Could you imagine anyone in the spotlight covering this tune this year?
No. This is kind of hard to cover with just a rapper and a DJ.
@@josephblow5946 Some truth in that bro!
Did I hear Francis pluck? 🤔🤙🏽😎
burning 🔥
Whoa, now THAT was a great version of this band, Tom kickin it, everyone in the deep groove. Russ giving Dave G a run for it !
Rocco Rules!
I saw them in Manteca Ca with these members.
Unbelievable!
Amen
Even here just a very good echo of the past!
But way ahead of their time in Cloud Computing?
🎉
so good.

Estos son de verdad
3:16 that face
be boo sax solo hot stuff.. Coltrane loves it
great
Best soul and fusion band as long as the ROLLING STONES.. JUST LOST CHARLIE WATTS.. SO THE TOP LOST AMAZING ROCCO AND STEVENSON THE EARLY LEAD SINGER . THATS WHAT LEGENDS ARE MADE FOR...💋❤❤💋❤
Don't forget Much Mestek on the Power Album the 87.
Yes, there were times when I just couldn't take Tom's vocals, when he sounded like two cats gettin' busy on a tin roof. However, other times I dug his voice, like his live takes on "Can't You See." As far as Tom P is concerned, I've seen him at jam sessions in Vegas with Lon Bronson's band and every time he completely blows me away. But with TOP, it seems as if he's trying to mimic Lenny Pickett's style all the time. I wish he would just be Tom Polizer 'cause he's a great jazz player.
Chat is disabled for this live stream too? lol so sad.
Yeah...Bay Area's own from Oakland, CA.
Dat bari is sweet
Muso ponytails to the fore!
my middle school played this in jazz band
Rocco?
killer
You can clearly hear these guys didn't learn anything from the old masters and tried to pass it on?
I'm not anti vax. We boomers had no choice in this matter. Good people doing it!
No one said, if you don't want to line-up just sit.
I'd take McKinnon over Garibaldi any day of the week.
No.
Fool.
uma banda com homens brancos fazendo som de negro , por isso musica é universal
MCKINNON GOOD BUT HE AIN'T NO GARIBALDI!!
Nobody plays like DG. Everybody that plays or subs for TOP are smoking players.
Garibaldi´s shape never and danceness will be like this...
and he wouldn´t beat this at all. this sound and groove with those patterns can not be beaten
dino gettie you’re so right! When Garibaldi grooves on this jam for some reason it just flows, and you can’t help but dance!
Russ was freaking great and this was a different era. Everyone’s got a different voice on their instrument. This was the mid 80’s-early 90’s edition of the band and the production/arrangement/songs had a slant appropriate for that period. If we all tried to sound like somebody else we’d be crappy facsimiles.
I always enjoy all of them. It's nice to see an original (player) but I like a different take also.
We made No big deal out of it back in the 60's. You just lined up in front of the school nurse's office and repeat? No big deal at all.
fo' mo' better health!
soul vaccination better than F PFIZER OR MODERNA NO SIDE EFFECTS..
JUSTIN BIEBER CANT SING LIKE THIS.. THAT SHIT ARTIST MAKING SO MUCH OUT OF LITTLE GIRLS.. NO FREAKING TALENTS . THESE GUYS ARE BAD ASSES
