We first saw TOP in Cleveland Ohio at the Agora when they just released East Bay Grease. No one knew who they were, maybe 20 people in the audience. The next time they came back to Cleveland you couldn't get into the club. One of the greatest groups of all time and should be in the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame. They are real musicians and have "Soul with a capital S."
As a trumpet player, I have a ton of respect for Lee and his range. This song is such a beast to get through, and Lee was screaming all the way through.
One of the best ever. I heard this at 'Parker's' in Seattle. The 'power' actually failed...and TOP kept playing. Suddenly, the power came back on and the band just blew everyone away into speechlessness. When the song ended, it was to silence for a moment...really. The crowd erupted into applause! AWESOME.
Russ McKinnon did a stellar job considering the band he was playing with - and the shoes he had to attempt to fill. D G has "that" sound" and groove - hard to replicate. Like Rocco's lines - not just anybody can do it.

They sound amazing. Who would want to follow that powerful performance

Top 91 was very jazzy!

Milo and m1 👌👌👌
Why are the trumpets always way down in the mix? Thornburg is the lead voice, not the saxs. Prime example is the out chorus starting at 4:40.

"The Ladies Choice -Steve Grove"
OK..the truth: David Garibaldi defined the TOP rhythm section with Rocco. He's missed!
J
The Concord Blue Devils should have played this
Can you imagine?
Would have been fantastic.
Garibaldi=the s**t. However I think Russ did great during his time in the band. I missed Chester more than anyone else.

I can tell Russ did not study Dave unique linear style . r - l- f - r- l - lf etc.
The Trombone is missing, you can hear it. Rather thin sound.
