It's a cyberpunks dream, an amazing city of both industrial and future. It's also a hotspot for food!

At 19 minutes, the one you eat is glutinous rice balls. The white outside is made of glutinous rice, and the inside is chopped sesame seeds.
just tangyuan 汤圆
23:01 Most people are honest. If you think something is expensive, it is really expensive for everyone, not just for foreigner.
And we don't have tips culture. Have good trip in Chongqing!😊😊😊
Thank you, great tip!
Having traveled to five continents and visited almost all large cities in the world, I can responsibly say that Chongqing's landscape, cityscape, urban vibes, and the blending of past and future is unparalleled by any other large cities in the world. The city's Verticality is utterly unbeatable comparing other mega cities built on boring flat landscapes. These include New York, Chicago, Paris, London, Berlin, Tokyo, Shanghai, you name it.
So true Max!
别一捧一踩😂 你踩的可能是别人的家乡国家
It‘s called "Tang yuan" or "Yuan xiao" in chinese."Tang yuan" is translate to "sweet soup balls" which is not that accurate in english.Even we have a festival called "The chinese Lantern Festival" which is at the 15th of the first lunar month.we usually eat "tangyuan" at that day.
The glutinous rice balls with sesame paste is called Tang Yuan. Sometimes they put crushed peanuts as filling and sweet/ ginger soup base. It’s usually eaten during the Chinese lantern festival but still we can eat it at any time of the year.
It is a big fan and 10 yuan is not expensive. If it is busy, it is likely a good restaurant. Chongqing is significantly more affordable than Beijing and Shanghai. 8.1 Road Food Street is definitely the right place to go. Chongqing is one of the Internet celebrity cities, and people from all around China are pouring into the city all the time.
yea don't bargain from old lady
The fan you bought, 10 Yuan each, is a good value, even for locals. It can be of both practical use and decorative as well.
If you are vegetarian, you can check out some of the larger tamples, they have some of the greatest vegetarian foods in the world. Also, it might help if your translator app can read out the translated Chinese. And it also helps if you can take a photo and translate that. I believe the translator app built into iPhones can do those. I hope that helps and have fun in China!
Oooh we checked one out, wull share it soon!
The last thing you didn't buy that odds are it's braised pork intestines, great tasting local food that's very well known on the internet. But it has broad beans in it. In Chongqing, basically 95% of all food is made with bean paste made from fava beans, and bean paste is a major component of Sichuan cuisine - basically anything that looks red, probably has bean paste in it. If Julia might be allergic, my advice would be to copy this word and tell them:/ "我吃了蚕豆会过敏,我吃了蚕豆会死." /
👍✌
最后那人想坑外国人,无耻😂

Amazing thanks share China food 😋🍜&🏙️🌆🌃🌇🌉
At 6 minutes, the price of the fan is 10 yuan. The pronunciation of number 10 in local dialect is "si", which sounds similar to "six" - number 6 in English. That might've caused confusions, and that's why the seller was requesting 4 more yuan after receiving 6 yuan.
That makes sense! Haha! Thank you!
Yes. The fan you bought, 10 Yuan each, is a good value, even for locals. It can be of both practical use and decorative as well.
We have dumplings at spring festival and each festtival. We eat tangyuan at The chinese Lantern Festival. We eat zongzi at Dragon Boat Festival in May fifth. We eat "moon cake" at Mid-Autumn Festival when August 15th.This festival is all in chinese lunar calendar.
Can't get enough of your China series. Think you need to do an hour long video 😁
Thank you mate, good to hear from you! A couple of slow vlogs here and there but glad to hear some are amazing!!
Your noodles look so fragrant, and at the moment my boiled dumplings takeaway has just arrived, and I want to change it. I have lived in Chongqing for a few years.
The fan you bought. On the side with two Chinese characters, it reads: "Chongqing". On the side with four Chinese characters, it reads: "This is the Fog City".
勒是雾都😂
扇子买的很值,
it looks greety but no pickpocket or rape in china, don't worry
great insight!
The fan you bought, 10 Yuan each, is a good value, even for locals. It can be of both practical use and decorative as well.
你们可以去解放碑附近的 民权路3号4楼 哪里有素食自助餐 价格也很优惠 (4/F, No. 3 Minquan Road, open from 11:30 to 20:00 Vegetarian, buffet)
醉了,为什么我发推荐就一直被删评
The fan you bought, 10 Yuan each, is a good value, even for locals. It can be used as a real fan and for decorative as well.
I'm from Chongqing. You can go to Changjiahui on Nanbin Road around 8 or 9 p.m., where you can see the beautiful night view of the confluence of the Yangtze River and the Jialing River
可以知道华语翻译是什么名字吗?
you guys can eat spicyyyy food, impressive❤
Chongqing is China's largest city because it's almost the size of South Korea, and its population isn't as crowded as you might expect, unless you like to travel during holidays
Thanks, people have said it isn't! But you're right!
Enjoy your trip.❤
I was there last October. Unlike other mega cities in the world that are built on boring flat plains, Chongqing is built on the slope and cliff of mountains along two large rivers and at their confluence. Because of its unique landscape, Chongqing people have developed impressive infrastructures, including tunnels, bridges, vertical public elevators, and cable cars on the slopes and across the rivers. Here are some number of their infrastructures within the city's administrative territory of the city: Bridges: 20,000+; Length of interstates: 4,000+ km; Tunnel length: 1,000+ km; Metro lines: 17; Bus lines: 300+. Chongqing is way more authentic and worth visiting than Beijing and Shanghai which is very much overrated, in my view.
so foggy mist mountain
Love both of you always from Malaysia
"But here in China people are always working" man! that hit hard
😅 Chinese work very hard! 🙏🏻
Food definitely looks AMAZING and quite spicy too
Very very good food mate!! You’d have loved it! 💯💯💯
@@VeggiesOnTour I'll treat you guys to a unforgettable vegetarian dinner next time you swing by KL. Have fun and be safe guys!
Welcome to cyberpunk city in real life😊❤❤❤❤
I hope you will gradually relax and enjoy your trip in China.❤I wish everything all the best.
I knew I will "see" the man from ChongQing in your video, and yes I spotted that man. ChongQing is the city not to be missed, and being a vegetarian myself, really love the video of your CHongQing trip. Thanks Pat & Giulia 🥰
Hahaha! Love this 😂
10块钱的纸扇真的很便宜了,同款纸扇,我在最拼多多上搜了一下,也要10元到15元。
It’s very true, price was very good
Bro, you missed the delicious food. I searched online for the last roadside stall you encountered. It’s called Jumping Noodles. It’s cold and has been selling for more than 40 years.
Even they want to buy it there is a language barrier. First they need to know if there are meat inside as they are vegetarian. So communication is a problem and this guy seems he don’t know how to read Chinese.
@@jplin888 确实
The last one should be a local Sichuan snack. You can try it. Although I don’t know what it is specifically, this kind of roadside stall will taste very good because it is made with traditional techniques.
佩服你们的勇气 这个时间敢去重庆 但你们找到了一个重庆的名小吃 宛杂面
💯💯
Amazing
It is not a problem for you vegetarians to eat in China. In China, specialized vegetarian shops are generally near temples, but almost all shops can do vegetarian food. You can tell the boss with translation software.😊
Vegetarianism is actually not a big trouble, the biggest problem is that because Chinese are almost not allergic to peanuts, we never deliberately avoid peanuts in food.
19:34 This is kind of sweet rice dumpling we called tang yuan.
Oooh
下次吃面条,可以跟老板说多放一些青菜。😊😊😊
Oooh - great suggestion
the peas in the noodle are not chickpeas, they are sweet peas instead. it's a very popular ingredient in chongqing vege noodles.
Welcome to the city on the map
in the end,the things in the sliver box is Pig intestine, the large intestine, which is a local flavor food,u can try it,maybe next time.
Oooh 😅
23:40 Some elderly people are uneducated and do not know Chinese characters. He keeps asking if you want one.
17:54…. The food Julia eaten called “Lai Chi Kang “ in Malaysia..
Basically it’s mild sweet fruity syrup with cut fruit ,leycee , jelly, chia seeds and many other things..
Serve hot or cold….
I and my wife prefer to visit rural China more than visiting big cities..
Both of you should go to more inland to places like Qinhai, Yunnan,Gansu, Ninxia or Inner Mongolia…
Xinjiang also beautiful … I and My wife had been to Tashkurgan Town at Tiansan Xinjiang… on ourway to Karakoram Hi way to Pakistan from China
Pad you are in the textile garment ''old'' district.. there's another one somewhere else.. I think near the art district.. Alex of reporterfy media did on this subject ages ago.. Chongqing is the biggest city in the world by population too.. 33 million according to Alex.. he knows he live there.. you need to go around that city before you make generalised statement.. that area is very working class.. you should checkout their posh area.. and use their metro system.. then you will get the real picture.. it a bit like waking up in hackney or Croydon and you think its London..
enjoy your time in Chongqing😊
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
You are wrong. The most populated place is also chongqing which has 33 million residents. Shanghai and Beijing both have a population of over 20 million.
In reality, Chongqing is the same size as the country of Austria and double the size of Taiwan island.... 😅It's always interesting to see how people call this entire area a 'city'...
nice couple! 😊
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
笑死我了,这视频才发出来就被搬到b站了🤣🤣哈哈哈
Most people who eat spicy hot food have perfect skin tone. No wonder you two are so good looking and with perfect skin tone.
Haha, love this comment so much 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Aww bless you guys helping poor common ppl 10yuan for fan is not bad i guess its about RM10 in Malaysia ?or £2 in UK? Bless you guys 😊
The man was selling the cooked intestines😂 it’s not a snack but a dish sometimes local people would buy. He kept asking you whether you want a bowl of intestine, but didn’t get any confirmative answer from you. So he’s quite conservative and did not want to open the lid, as it would cools down the hot dish 😂
Ooooh that's very good to know, thanks for the explanation - so funny 😂
19:16 The glutinous rice ball is called “tang yuan” in Chinese, and the ones with the sesame fillings are the OG flavor. These are traditional food that are typically consumed in Yuanxiao Festival (The Lantern Festival), when family members reunite and get together, so tangyuan has the connotation of reunion. Also tangyuan sounds similar to tuanyuan (reunion) in Chinese. Hope you enjoyed your Chinese trip!
Oooh great insight
In English, those are called glutinous rice balls that are filled with black sesame paste.
Veggies you must try those vegetarian food in Chinese monk temples especially in Hangzhou, Shanghai
Got one coming up! 😂🙏🏻
I have to say, brother, your intuition is really accurate, and the last thing you didn't buy is actually intestines, although the price is not particularly expensive, but the confused payment is really troublesome
That wasn’t intuition. That was ignorance and fear of asking the young people behind him to help. Not realizing that not all translation will work depending on the method and dialect. And not intuitively (or with research) understanding how best to communicate. Asking the same thing repeatedly in a language someone doesn’t understand does not help. Certain gestures and patience and asking for help do. He was impatient and didn’t ask for help. Chinese are known for helping foreigners.
Also, not all older Chinese can read. There is a small chance he could not read what was on the phone or could be see it we’ll dilute to far sightedness.
Chongqing is called a municipality but it’s equivalent of a state in terms of status and size. It includes many districts (satiate cities)and counties, the same size of Australia.
Shanghai is also called a municipality and is equivalent of a state in the US.
❤❤
you should visit the building with 22flr then look down. it is a popular spot.
😂🙏🏻
In China, "city" includes both urban and rural areas. In that sense, Chongqing is the biggest city in China. However, its urban area is much smaller than Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Wuhan....
In reality, Chongqing is the same size as the country of Austria and twice the size of Taiwan island.... 😅It's always interesting to see how people call this entire area a 'city'...
@@M3.Lorenzo The definition of "city" in China is equivalent to "county" in the U.S.
@@yangzhwo9779 Hmm.. similar, but not really the same. Prefecture in China is the equivalent to 'County' in the US.
The current 'prefecture-level city', which incorporates a core urban center and its surrounding counties, is more or less like the concept of 'Metropolitan area' in the US, which also incorporates several cities together.
However, Chongqing...is a provincial-level municipal, which was made by several prefecture-level cities together... in anyway, it's basically a province, not a 'city' in any sense.
get a mushroom hotpot that can be spicy and it is mushroom so it is vegan/vegetarian if you want something local.
Good suggestion!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻

You cant miss lunch or food in China.
Food is just everywhere😂😂😂
👍👍👍
Tips: No tip culture in China ^_^
😂😅
Fun fact: *Chongqing is the same size as the country of Austria* ....😅 It's not so much a 'city' in the common sense, but a small province administered by the original Chongqing city...
Woooah!
@@VeggiesOnTour Yes, Chongqing's massive size is indeed scary .... The now Chongqing Municipality is actually made from the original Chongqing city, which you guys visited, and several other independent cities and counties altogether....
That's why when people call it a city, thinking it's only one city, its population and economic stats seem super massive...😂
好好玩~
19:05 are mochi filled with molten sesame.
I was happy to see something about the city and now I think it's a shame that I didn't see anything about the city.
was only allowed to see you and how you ate👍
Unfortunately I just skipped because I didn't want to listen to the talk.
The title could be "how I film myself while walking on a plain in Chongqing, talking and eating something in between"

HEY,BRO

What was the noodles dish called? I'm vegetarian too and it looked delicious! I'm really craving that now!
Chinese:豌杂面,It is made with peas and miscellaneous sauce as the main ingredients, with onion, ginger and garlic as auxiliary ingredients. It has a smooth texture. The softness of the peas, the chewiness of the noodles and the sweetness of the miscellaneous sauce are endless.
@@guochen8242 thank you, that sounds amazing! Hope I'll get to taste it some day!
It’s delicious mate! It’s quite common in Sichuan provinces. Just look out for Sichuan stuff and you might find it!
@@VeggiesOnTour it does look delicious! Really enjoying your videos!
If you don't know what it is, you can ask two questions. 1. Can I have a look? 2. Can I try a little bit for free? This should help you decide whether to buy it or not.

😂
Dude, Chongqing is not the biggest city in China, but a fantastic one. it would be best if you did some updates. :)
Good to know but online says it’s the biggest city in China due to its size!
If Julia is broad bean allergic better have the exact meaning or explanation or what is NOT possible with Julia in Chinese. So you can show it at the food place so people know.
❤Last one is 挑挑肥腸
Pork intestines ❤

I haven't seen u order mixue? icecream?
Vegetarian is very common in China as most of the Buddhism and Taoism believers are all vegetarians. You just need to learn how to say it. 素食 su shi is what you need to learn, which means vegetarian food. 我是素食者 wo shi su shi zhe means I am a vegetarian, and 我吃素 wo chi su means I eat vegetarian food.
🙏🏻🙏🏻 good to know
@@VeggiesOnTourif you go to temples, you can find vegetarian food as well.

it is a pity that you guys go to chongqing without eating the hot pot
4 and 10 in their dialect sounds almost the same😂
if you need help, try to look for the younger generation. most would have studied some english at school and are a bit more in tune with modern day cultural stuff. older generation, like 40-50+ grew up in a different period in china when they were still overcoming extreme poverty in a lot of places so education levels weren't as high. just keep in mind a couple generations ago, china was like the bottom 5 poorest countries in the world on a per capita basis. so for people growing up during that period, especially in the less developed inland regions, the education and culture gap will be extreme. that seems to be the case with the street vendor at the end who might be from the countryside and just hustling where he can. also realize there are hundreds of dialects in china and each are different enough where you couldn't really understand one from another except for a few words here and there sounding similar. older and less education people from the countryside may only know their local dialect and not mandarin. they can still get by because the writing is the same, just each character is pronounced different depending on region.
❤😂🎉❤😂🎉
Come on spicy food , i'm not afraid of you 🤛 let's give it a go.
