Literally everyone involved... starting with her mother.
I kept waiting for a clip of her taking at least a little bit of ownership for setting this chain of events in motion. Didn't happen. "It's everyone _else's_ fault!" Lessons learned: 0... at least by the participants. I suppose it would be moot at this point anyway. But, if you want to be an optimist, maybe one or two of the 1.1 million people who've watched this video gained a little insight/will-power from this IRL cautionary tale and won't need quite as many wake-up calls to stack up before they start _trying_ to get their shit together.

One time I was trying to report my registration tags taken off my car and had them on camera and the police told me because of my age to go back to bed. I told my daughter that after I was done suing the landlord I was going back to Texas. Never have I ever seen a police dept so neglectful. People get addicted to drugs when they're younger than 18, now they're an addict, they don't think they're "addicted" for many years tho until they start to have problems, now they realize but they're ashamed, too ashamed to even TRY for change because there's a dime a dozen YOU's who stay right here on the sidelines to say horrible things when you can, so what she's a disgusting person because she got addicted to drugs and is now doing the work to get clean because she HAS to??? That's how MOST addicts end up getting clean, they HAVE to because they're probably going to jail or prison.. or they'll lose their kids, and before you say some shit like "losing your kids should be enough to change anything", to an addict, reality is TOTALLY different to them than it is to anyone else..
There are MANY many mom's and dad's who just don't care anymore, this mom still cares, still tried to get it out there, get the case known so they could hopefully track down Harmony...

I’ll never understand why drugs or alcohol could ever be more important than your baby, I became a single mom at 19, and my son was diagnosed with autism at 2, he’s 4 now. Outside of numbers, there’s not much communication from him so I have to be fully aware of his needs at all times. I know it’s hard, It’s the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do in my life so far, but I’ve never once thought “hm let’s add drugs into the mix”. I drank a few times when I was 21 but not being coherent for my son, who can’t speak for himself, was nightmare fuel for me… I understand there were questions about Harmonys learning capacity and if there were any ailments holding her back, her mom was too drugged out the entire time they were going through testing to advocate for her, that she was only blind but very smart and talkative. It appeared that she had a cognitive disability due to her eye, but they were able to rule it out because Harmony was so good at carrying full conversations. Harmony never had any problems missing her milestones, she was such a smart and sweet girl. 😢

blaming those mostly doing their best. Attitudes and blame is also why I left and I was one of the ones that really cared. I will say at least the lady was looking for her baby. This is such a sad story and they are always hiring since you can do better. Just saying. You’ll see.

They get a report that something is wrong and then if they show up, the kids look okay, aren't saying anything, and there isn't something obvious going on what are they supposed to do? It's not like the foster care system is a beaming place to send kids- they get neglected and abused their too. It's like picking the lesser of two evils. If they see something obvious and don't do something yes that should be reprimanded heavily but honestly this whole system of child welfare is broken- children shouldn't have to be parented by a government agency b/c an entity or organization can't take care of or raise a child. A person can. The parents failed her miserably. The legal systems followed suit. It IS heartbreaking thinking about this poor girl and the others who are right now going through this process of being shuffled around between their abusive/neglectful parents and the state and still having nobody meet their needs.

I’m a recovering addict. I know many women that currently have children in the care of the state and even a few that gave birth to babies physically addicted to heroin. That said, this case is still infuriating and a failure on many accounts. I don’t doubt this woman loved her daughter as much as anyone should. Even addicts look down on women that struggle with addiction and have children (most of whom are men that have no children). Addiction is a disease, not a moral choice. Addicts will cross every line they draw in the sand as they slip towards rock bottom. The women I know talked about their children constantly and I believe in many cases it’s right to have the children taken, because addiction makes a poor parent. I can’t chastise her for being an addict though, not after I’ve seen the hoops women go through in trying to get their children back. Addiction is an evil that consumes a person, networking out and webbing to those around them.
I’m angry at the law for failing to investigate so long after the fact and the piece of shit who did this. Child killers don’t fare well in prison, and I’m not a bloodthirsty guy, but it does give some catharsis to know he is likely having the shit beat out of him often.

Once the state takes a child it almost impossible to get them back. Someone without the means it is impossible. That means thousands for lawyers, and everything else they have to have. Even then it's still hard. Cps is a profit driven system.

@@whogoestherification I don't blame her for addiction because it's a disease. It's a horrible disease. However, it doesn't make you stupid. You know you are struggling and you know you aren't doing good for your kids. When she couldn't get clean, she should've supported the foster family adopting her. She fought them until they gave up and still wasn't off the drugs. That's what I blame her for. As a mother, even an addicted one, you can do what's best for your child by letting them go.

The mom failed to get clean in time to raise her children but that lady knew a child was killed and said nothing. But let's all just focus on the one with a drug addiction because she's selfish ...Not the lady who knew a kid was murdered and said nothing because the selfish lady said something true but made her a hypocrite..

@@awright119021 Sobriety is a process. People often go to treatment multiple times and there is no guarantee who will succeed on the first try or even the fifth. One can be earnest in their recovery and start doing all the things necessary but slip back into complacency and slowly begin to ruminate again before a relapse, which is what was described in this video. Addiction is cunning, baffling, and powerful and many addicts have some form of trauma in their youth (about 80%). She may have put forth all the effort in the world for the sake of her baby but addiction lies. It’s the Devil on your shoulder whispering in your ear.
The difficulty lies in feeling like shit, having a bad day, week, year, dealing with stressors, and knowing that your drug of choice will give you an immediate sense of gratification even though it likely will follow with consequences. Addicts have a high tolerance for pain and a short memory of it. Learning to be sober is like learning how to breathe under water. It takes the brain a long time to truly heal. It’s immensely difficult and it took me four tries without having any children.

I'm getting real fed up that these kids are dying because when the case is reported, it seems they do very little to make sure the children are safe. Someone needs to be held accountable just like the murderer! There's no excuse for these kids to be overlooked and forgotten especially when people are saying there's abuse! I think people should march the streets for justice! The kids don't have a voice but caring good people do!

I hate to say this but with the foster care system already overcrowded, these agencies are not going to remove the child from a home unless they walk in & see the child in a dog cage! They are so understaffed and overwhelmed its sickening. Their budgets are always the first to get cut. And get ready to see a huge uptick in cases in the next 5 to 10 years with Republican controlled state governments outlawing abortion, well its going to break the system completely and its always the children who will suffer.

It is interesting that the mother never once publicly spoke of responsibility for trying to take her back and then failing - multiple times. The bigger, best thing to do was to give Harmony to the adopting family and get on with taking care of herself. I would have had more compassion for the bio mom if she had hinted at feeling some responsibility in this whole mess.

She looks away from the camera when she says she kept calling...I doubt that she did. I'll never understand why people can't just do what's best for the CHILD. Even if it means taking them away from their parents. And I'll never understand how someone can knock their child around especially little little ones. This was honestly all preventable.
