- There has been no news regarding the Suikoden remaster in 10 months which has led to many fans wondering if the remaster has been cancelled. So what is happening? Fear not, the game has not been cancelled, and I have an update to calm everyone's fears and worries.

@@michaelkelley7826 It is possible they are adding something like complete optional dialogue voice over, like in Eiyuden, which is why it might have been prolonged. That would be for 2 games.
Konami is not Square Enix... I wouldn't trust anything they say or don't say until we have the game released. Even then they could screw up the remaster with unwanted changes.
And then they went in bed with Sweet Baby Inc. and started compromising the integrity of the DQ3 remake by removing genders that were actually part of the gameplay with some jobs being exclusively tied to male or female. But no, let's remove genders because "represantation and inclusivity".

Thanks for this! I had been wondering what is going on. Very odd to have been originally planned for a 2023 release, then delayed with absolutely no update from Konami since Aug 2023. The lack of transparency is one of many reasons people are frustrated with the company.
It's very frustrating. For it to be delayed for this long and with no word from them for almost a year now, I expect there's a big overhaul or redesign of the remaster happening.
Good catch on the Steam logs and activity. I can only imagine the delays were caused both by the need to polish the game, and possibly so that Eiyuden didn't steal any "spotlight" from the remaster
Fingers crossed it's just for polish. But if it was just for polish it's hard to imagine an entire year of silence. I suspect they either ran into a big problem, or they took the feedback of the vocal group who didn't like the hd art, ui and sfx and are doing a big overhaul.
Would be even cool if they add addittional stuff like new items, runes etc. or even new scenes.
Let´s hope for the best and let us fans show them that Suikoden series is still a thing that the fanbase cares for.
Would even love to see III - V brought to actual console generation and even consider to give us a potential Suikoden VI.
I´m also a big fan of the series since Suikoden II came out.
The Sega Saturn port of Suikoden 1 had an extra armour set, an extra rune, extra scenes and minigames compared to the PS1 version. It's unlikely they'll include them, but we can hope! If the 1 and 2 HD Remaster sells well, I don't see why they wouldn't remaster the remaining games. Here's hoping!
I'd love to see all 5 remastered and released even without added content. Hell I'd jump to ps5 if that's the only way I could get them tbh.

And also, the portraits looking the same or at least 99% faithful to the original is just the best. Can't wait for it! :DD I had Suikoden II PC version back then, but it was all totally in Chinese, so this would be a super nice in English or Japanese.
The portraits for Suikoden 1 have been redrawn by Junko Kawano, the original character designer of the game. They'll be 100% faithful :)
I’m glad to hear they’ve just been taking their time with it to ensure quality. I’m sure the multi platform release also makes it difficult.

This is not the days of the PS3/360 era where consoles had very customized hardware. The only exception is the Switch, but that really shouldn’t be a big deal.

Maybe the constant silence could also mean a DQ3 HD-2D situation where they’re also adding and localizing the Genso Suikogaiden visual novels as well remastering 3, 4, tactics, and 6 leading to a potential Suikoden 6 since they recently posted an anniversary for Suikoden 3 on social media.
I don't want to get your hopes up, but they did file for a trademark for the Genso Suikogaiden games around the same time they started development on the I & II HD Remaster. It could mean something, or it could mean nothing.

Now Konami take the time you need to make this remaster awesome, and not screw up.
A simple gesture of good will from their dev team via a twitter post would be great and we wouldn't have had to go into detective mode to see traces of hope.

I agree. The silence is very frustrating. Some kind of monthly update, no matter how minor it is, would generate a lot of good will with the community.

here's hoping that we'll eventually get more news. honestly i hope they change the UI, the last time they showed off the UI it looked like something out of an old RPGMaker while also having a menu in a menu in a menu in a menu for combat commands and that looked disgusting. the original UI while it could use a coat of freshpaint was also better in terms of the border design and you had the option for different border designs through a character you recruited, plus you could change the background color and make it either transparent or solid, this new one looks like you get none of that and it worries me so im hoping that was just a really early build and its something they're working on. also i think its cool they added a run animation to Mcdohl rather than making it that hes not just speed walking LOL
I think this is just an early build. As you said, if we take into consideration that there are a lot of different dialogue skins in the game, they wouldn't scrap that concept and we will get the classic ones as development progresses.

The UI is absolutely fine as it is. Why do people keep bitching about this when there's absolutely nothing wrong with it?
They can take their time while i thoroughly play through Eiyuden Chronicles HH. But make no mistake Suikoden1 and 2 remake is very special for me that i would get in a heartbeat once it's out.
I'm glad they're taking their time with it, it's showing they care about the quality. How are you enjoying Eiyuden Chronicle HH? I had a blast playing it, it has its flaws, but it was a very fun game.

they are letting eiyuden shine from what i hear in the comments, i hope that is true, the people from eiyuden are in good terms with konami
'Last record update' is unfortunately quite vague. It can mean updates to the internal build of the game, updates related to anything about the game, etc. I checked multiple games on the database, both released and upcoming games and compared them all to Suikoden. Suikoden and other upcoming games received updates more often than released games (pointing to changes being made to internal builds), and Suikodens page received these updates far more frequently than others I checked. Many games have gone days or more in between updates. Considering the frequency and volume of the updates, and it happening far more than other games, it's pointing towards internal builds being updated.
You've made a few good points how the Suikoden Remaster is likely still going on-
But one point I have to disagree with, it is the one with Takahiro Sakiyama. Because just him working on it doesn't mean anything, because we are talking about Konami. Not only infamous how they treat their employee, but also how bad they've treated Kojima back in the day. There is a reason why Fuckonami has become such a meme, because the company did some greedy shit over the years.
They did a lot of greedy shit in the past for sure. But that was a long time ago. It's unlikely that the same management are still in place. Over the last 5 or 6 years they've had a big shift in focus and put more focus back on video games again. They do genuinely seem to be turning a corner, or at least trying to. Unfortunately they're still the same old dogshit company when it comes to communicating with their fans.
TGS isnt too far away were entering July now so before you know it well be in September waiting for whatever announcements theyll have for us on that date
so many good games coming this year

I hope so too. The recipe bug was annoying, and I hated having to speed run through the game to complete Clive and Elza's sidequest. I like to relax and take my time
They cant do it because the larger battles have not beem shown... meaning they require code changes, once code changes, it is not a case of readjusting coordinates anymore, it is a more indepth change in engineering....
It would better if this game has graphic quality such as eiyuden

I hope they add the extra content from the Sega Saturn port into Suikoden 1. The cut content secret dungeon and NG+ being added to 2 would be awesome, but I'm not holding my breath for any of that.
i'm pretty satisfied with eiyuden chronicle: hundred heroes for now.
and with dragon quest 3 hd-2d remake coming, i have enough classics to keep me busy.

Konami have been releasing a bunch of console and PC games over the last 5-6 years. There's been a real shift in their business model, with a big focus being put back on gaming.
They need to give me it alreadyyyyyy
I never got to play Suikoden, so this is awesome, since I have a Nintendo Switch. However, I hope that Konami releases this physically themselves and NOT from Limited Run, because Limited Run is infamous for making their games in very low amounts physically. That is a very big problem because it hikes up the physical version, and if the game is on a server, what if it is shut down?
Some retailers like play-asia and amazon already have physical copies of the game up for pre-order. Konami have released a bunch of games over the last 5-6 years and published and released them all by themselves. I don't think they'll go the Limited Run route.

I don't think Eiyuden's release would've had anything to do with their decision. A sudden delay with a very vague reason given, followed by silence for almost a year now. I suspect there's a big redesign or overhaul happening. A portion of fans seemed very unhappy with the HD artstyle and changes being made. I wonder if they're changing all of that?

I don't think they'll be touching the sprites, but we'll see. It would be really cool if they got an upgrade to Suikoden 2's quality.

@@ConfessorRahl its an awesome game, most stories of anything are just repeat of stories we've already heard in the past, there's nothing really new to add, just like in music, there are only 7 major melodies that's being repeated throughout millenias or something like that, and what matters is presentation of the melody or storytelling, not the story itself. And by all that is holy, eiyuden presented the true essence of the story that is the heart and will of the beigoma. Nothing is certain until the tops have spun. Much respect.

Crazy part is this remaster isn't gonna add new content yet constantly has issues. Onto development hell where it can join dragon quest 12 😂. Hopefully metroid prime 4 doesn't get delayed again as the trailer was nice to see.

Updates to the steam game be damned. Konami owes their fans and customers more than silence. For the last decade Konami has shown nothing but (at best) indifference to what their fans want or (at worst) complete lack of interest in competing in the current market. They owe their fans amd potential customer open dialogue. Not a trailer for a remake, then a missed date and silence for 8 months. If it wasn't Konami, this is how studios die. Too bad they don't seem to understand that.

The backgrounds for the remaster looks really nice! But sadly the character models still look pixelated
i would MUCH rather them keep the sprites pixelated then try to smooth the edges or change them. I've seen people emulate the games with smoothed sprites and it just takes away all of the charm.
.....they're SUPPOSED to look that way. And they should. Smoothing them out would look awful, ugly and unnatural. No, keeping the sprites is one of the things they're doing RIGHT with this.

They've already confirmed that the games will be receiving revised translations (the original games translations were really bad and full of mistakes). Make of that what you will.
@@CulganValya It seems funny to me that whenever they rerelease these old Japanese games, they always call the original translations horrible. Fixing minor mistakes from the original translation is one thing, but changing or adding things just because you don’t like what’s said is another thing entirely.
@@JacobC-i8d Except in the case of Suikoden, it's true. I've been playing these games since I was a child when they originally released and the translations of the early games are full of problems that need to be fixed.
Alive and well or not, the new art and the ui are shite.
The UI is hot garbage. It's awful. It really looks like something we'd throw together in RPG Maker. I'm iffy on the portraits. While I don't like them, I don't dislike them either. I'm pretty neutral on them. I'd much rather they brought Fumi Ishikawa back and had her do the portraits for Suikoden 1 instead.

They already announced it's getting a reworked translation. The original script was a complete and utter mess due to the in-game text limit and the rushed translation of the originals due to time constraints.
Everything is remaster now.. But i think just 1 remasted game is good, Diablo 2, because they creating it from nothing, and the creators is outsource. Other else remaster they try to create it from old source and try to embed it with new HD visual, and TA DA another lame remaster 🤣

konami and eiyuden makers are in good terms, i keep hearing that konami is just making way for eiyuden to shine as the director of both eiyuden and suikoden passed away recently, and its his last project. I hope that is true.

Because Suikoden 1 and 2 are top tier games and playing them on modern consoles are non existing. Also, the hate Konami is just silly. They are business, running a business.
@@MRSAUltraviolet You can play them on PS3, which is modern enough since it has HDMI output. Also, nothing silly in hating Konami for the way they handle business. It is possible to do business without pissing on everything and everyone while doing your earnest best to run all your IP's to the ground. For some reason Konami just doesn't want to.
