- Mat’s got himself an all-new car! That’s right, the Porsche 911 Turbo S is GONE, and he’s swapped it for… an Audi S8!
That’s right, the king of the carwow drag strip is gone, and it’s been swapped for a luxury saloon. But will Mat enjoy his time with the S8 more than the 911 Turbo?
Well, you’re about to find out! Mat will take you on a tour of the Audi S8 to find out what’s good, and not so good, about it. From interior and exterior design through to practicality and tech, Mat will show you just what the Audi S8 has to offer.
But of course, this is carwow, so he won’t end there… He’ll also see what performance is like over the quarter-mile, and also find out just how fun the S8 is to drive once you hit a twisty country road!

Mat, for steering wheel heating you can make its button to stay in the main climate menu. I always put it there for the winter, and replace with ACmax button for the summer.
And sync between two sides is simply done by pinch gesture between two halves

S8s have always been great cars. We have a 1999 D2 (Ronin style) in the family and it’s still going strong and fun to drive. The new ones must be absolute beasts. Love the car, but would spec in a different color and bright wheels. After the RS6 Avant, this is most Audi of Audis!

My mate works for a BMW dealership group and there’s a green 8 series m850i with brown interior that has been sat in the showroom for as long as I can remember… Basically waiting for that 1 in 100,000 or something person that actually likes that combo for it to sell - and they’ll prob have to do a deal on it too. 🤦🏻♂️

For the menu, the heated steering wheel button, press and hold it and it'll allow you to replace Either the A/C max or the off button. You have to press and hold it while you're in the extra .... Menu. As far as sync, you don't have to click on sync each time, you can use your two fingers and make a pinch gesture on the bottom screen and it'll sync. And to unsync, you can do the reverse of the pinch or simply click on the passenger side AC control and it'll unsync.
Wish Audi R8 Race Car also got an engine swap from Porsche 996.

Great choice much better daily driver than the 911. The revamped 2023 Maserati Quattroporte would be a great alternative too.
My current daily driver is a 992 911 Turbo S and my last daily driver was an Audi S8. The S8 is one of my favorite cars I have ever owned. It just does everything well.
My 5 series BMW does the same shift up in manual mode Matt. All you have to do is shift once manually and the computer gives you full shifting control after that. Nice 👌 luxurious car Matt. 😊

I you want to you can put the heated steering wheel on the multifunktional button (the one with the * on it) on the steering wheel for easier access.
and syncing the climate control is very easy by just "zooming out" anywhere on the climate control screen as you would zoom out on your phone.
That’s actually legitimately shocking that the rear seats don’t fold down. That alone might be a deal breaker for me despite the rest of the car being so good

Your audi is also smoother because it has a longer wheel base than regular cars. Suspension helps but longer wheel base is key to a smooth ride. Nice car. I still have my 1997 volvo 960 wagon. It refuses to die.

I had a 1998 A8. Loved that car. Sounded good, plenty of room, comfortable and good in the snow. Its downfall was electrical issues.
I find the whole iso fix points interesting because here in the U.S. it’s like forbidden to put your baby seat in the front due to a airbag risk. 🤔
Why isn’t the S8 offered with carbon ceramic brakes in the UK like it is in other markets?
And also, why isn’t that special predictive suspension on the S8 offered on the normal A8 in the UK when it’s offered in other markets?

I had my Audi SQ5 for 3 years now, and I cant find a better car to this day. Its strong(650nm), fast 0-100 km 5.1 sec. Fun and perfect for holiday trips. Anyone have a suggestion on a better car, let me know. Cheers!

The control for the heated steering wheel can either be added as a “shortcut” along the bottom row of heating/ventilation for the seats etc. or it can also be programmed to turn on/off via the * button on the steering wheel itself.
About the climate control sync function you can easily do that by “pinching” with two fingers on the lower display (like you’re zooming out on a picture on your phone). To release the sync you either do the opposite gesture (like zooming in on a picture) or simply change the passenger side temperature for instance.

Everything you said there is why we love our Q7 Prestige, Dynamic is just enough and overall package is so smooth but fun.
For the heated steering, you can set it up so you can turn it on with one of the buttons on the steering wheel. For the temperature sync, you can put one finger on the passenger's climate control side and another finger on the driver's and bring the two fingers together while still touching the screen and it will sync. They should've told you that at the dealership. I have the same info system on my A6

The D4 third generation is still my favorite.
my 2009 accord has lanekeeping and adaptive cruise, I use it all the time, it helps a lot to save energy on long distances, or when the light conditions are bad, the car sees things and reacts before I see them. I am able to do around 1500km in one go, once I did 1900. But I am so surprised you are mentioning such an old tech on a new luxury top of the line car. I thought nowadays every other car has it... ...Love my Accord, back then it had to be so futuristic.
My mate has a 1990's prelude with rear wheel steering, which is people are now raving about on the new RS6 😂 Honda's tech was way ahead of its time
