    This video is about bending the barrel on a break barrel air rifle. This is a Daisy 1000 (early version made in Brazil) in .177 cal. The technique is based on what was described to me by Randy Bimrose, former chief gunsmith at Beeman, and also a Pyramid Airguns Blog post (actually 5 of them) by Tom Gaylord;
    www.pyramydair...
    Some people simply whack the barrel against a stump, others clamp the barrel in a vise and put their weight into bending. Could drive over the barrel with your car too, I suppose, but its hard to control how much bend-back you achieve that way.
    I'm thinking the method shown here is a bit more precise and controlled, although others have had success with more brute force style methods.

    Thank you for posting this video. I had accidentally hit the trigger on a Ruger AirMag when the barrel was open. WOW what a major release of power swinging the barrel closed. Anyway, after watching your video I made a fixture and was able to bend the barrel back and dial it in once again.
    Keep sharing the knowledge.

    Thank you very much I just repaired my own .22 air rifle. This method works like a charm. 😀 Best regards from a random south African.

    I've heard of barrel droop ,this is new so I will keep that in mind because I have had a barrel slip on me like that and my thumb got pinch in the breach don't think my barrel bent though ,but I will check ⏳

    Awesome. I used this method and now I have groups of 1 inch at 30 yards! My barrel was bent in two directions as well. Great video!

    Thank you! Useful video, because many people believe that everything is irreparable.

    Some people sight down an unobstructed barrel with the scope mounted and move the scope OR the barrel until both are on the POI.

    Thank you! Am looking at a rifle that probably had this happen to it. Now I know how to diagnose it for sure and bring it back to proper function. :-) Your informative video is GREATLY appreciated!

    I'd admit it if I let it go but I didn't in my case, I bought an old ij-22 Soviet breakbarrel but never saw in the pictures just how bent it was.
    It's not the barrel as much really.
    The tube/compressor housing is bent up and to the left.
    And the forks are bent upwards too.
    I really want a good ij-22.
    They're just the best looking handy little breakbarrels to me.
    But I'm kinda afraid it's beyond restoration, the breech, barrel and compressor housing all have some bends.
    And judging by the smoothness of the old metal surface (no nicks or dents) I think it wasn't dropped or anything but rather someone long ago let the barrel slip when cocking.
    Do you think it's possible to get it all in alignment again?

      Sounds pretty bad. How does it shoot?

      Thanks for your reply 👍🏻
      grouping? I couldn't really give an accurate representation, only shot it like 30 times with a few different pellets off hand at about 10 yards, and it shot to the right if I remember, shot like a pellet tin sized group and much to the side.
      Then I realized in the shine that the compressor tube was bent too.
      (The barrel and breech block themselves seem vertically quite straight actually, just a bit off to the side horizontally.)
      The majority is in the compressor tube, it's like "crumped up" and bent up a bit where the breech contacts the tube.
      (The forks might be a tiny bit bent up too, but it's definitely more in the compressor tube/housing)
      I think from pivot to the front sight it's up out of alignment by about an half and inch.
      Other than that, the barrel break latch works, it cocks, it shoots but usually you need to fire twice to get the pellet to clear the barrel (tried 4 different .177 pellet brands)
      Think the seal is just too old tho, probably the original leather seal from the 60s or 70s
      And I don't really want to put a lot more effort into it if I'm not sure I can straighten it out properly.
      (I'd like to shoot properly at different ranges)

    Wouldn't a repair or fix like this be too expensive, to the point that it would be cheaper to just buy another air rifle?

  • @ChildofYHVH

    Do you take repairs from all over? I have a swarm whisper and I put a adjustment screw for the trigger in and it was adjusted too much and I cocked it and it didn’t catch and it snapped back up and bent the barrel. I attempted to bend it back, but would like to have it adjusted a little more if possible.

    I'd sure like to see a video of spring and piston takedown of this model. Mine is honking like a goose when I cock it.

      Sorry, I gave the gun back to the owner after bending the barrel. To get rid of the honk, maybe try this;
