    Moronic how the govts of certain countries see these as Firearms .In the 70s we have 20 ft lb air rifles .The one and only reason the 12 ftlb rule came in was to protect the British air rifle makers as they could not compete with the HW german make. Treating adults like kids is moronic

    Just for balance of course…
    Many years ago a friend of mine, whilst putting an Ox in his Hw35 got the breech block cross threaded.
    He brought it over so we could mount it in my jig and hopefully resurrect the situation.
    Well..couldn’t get it out so I held the breech tight with a leather gauntlet, while he twisted.
    Some you guys will know that the HW spring carrier is roughly cut and splayed out in a cross shape - remember the roughly cut bit, it’s important.
    Yep..we twisted..something thudded onto my thumb and the spring went airborne.
    The first sign of trouble was that there didn’t seem to be a proper thumb in the thumb of the gauntlet any more.
    There was a neat “v” shaped cut in the leather where my thumb should have been.
    The spring carrier went through the leather, hit the top of the base of my thumb, went through down to the bone and dislocated it so it was laying next to my wrist.
    One surgery and plenty of ribbing later, all was good.
    Still got my Venom arms
    HW 77k, must be 35years old and I’d still rather hunt with it than use my pre charged rifles.

    Make two short pins the size of the trigger group so that you can push out the long pins and leave the two short ones in place to keep the trigger group all in line and it makes assembly a doddle as everything is held in place and the safety simply slides in again no problems I made mine from brass rod and they are a godsend for servicing the rifle. The video is great and the results are very good you are doing a great job. And Nice to see someone actually doing things the safe way. Keep on keeping on stay safe from the UK.

    I have a cheap B2 Chinese. 22 air rifle that the spring got weak after couple of years. So bought a vortek spring for the rifle same length as the old one played hell getting the new one in. And cocking was hard also. So I cut the new spring down a couple of coils and flatten and polish the end. That rifle shoots 10 time better then when I first bought new awesome now. I even got one of their moly seal for that rifle even better. Vortek Inc. make great products for your air rifles American made from Michigan. More fps dose not mean better accuracy that's what you want accuracy with the right fps. And the right pellets also. Good luck bud.

      I took an HW 80 up to 24 ft-lbs then dropped it back to 18 ft-lbs if it's done right you get very little recoil. At 24 ft-lbs the group size at 35 yards was around 10 inches at 18 ft lbs the group size was < 3/4 inch

    Hi, I am about ready to change my spring - but I don't have a spring compressor or the means to make the version you use (I saw your video on how to make it and it is very good, it's just not something I can make at the moment). Is there a way to do this without a compressor? Ie by putting pressure yourself on the spring using the flat head of a file etc? I know it won't be as easy or as safe, but is there a way? Thanks!

    Hi - this was such a useful video - thank you. I just have a few questions if you don't mind -
    a) what's the name of that flat-lying vice-like thing with the screw adjuster clamped to the end? (The thing you put the barrel in to work on)?
    B) I see you ordered the spring cut to 34 coils, but you said you realised you had to cut a couple more off. How were you able to tell that, and to know how much to cut off? (I ask so that I'll know when i do the same thing)
    C) you mention something about "locking" the screws at the end- do you mean using "thread lock" liquid?
    D) I'm going to order from the website you linked, specifying at 34 coils - the 142 Wire Spring 830OD. Will this spring fit most springer makes and models, or only certain ones? I have a variety of springers so would be good to know if it could work with any of them.
    Cheers!

    • @BROTUNED
      @BROTUNED  11 місяців тому +2

      A) is a spring compressor I came up with to work on springers. I made a video on making it.
      B)the reason I had to cut it was because it ended up binding up so I had to shorten it to allow the spring to compress. I cut a bit then tested it until the main spring compressed without any binding. Takes some time unless you make big incremental cuts
      C) blue locktite is a good idea on anything that moves or vibrates

    • @BROTUNED
      @BROTUNED  11 місяців тому +2

      It will work in some for sure 👍🏻 but there’s a lot of springers out there so I’m sure it won’t fit in a good majority of them

    Just to let you know, your spring end is not finished correctly , you should heat it up with a blow lamp then when it gets red pinche the top coil so its inline with the coil unneath it pointed nose pliers then let it cool down naturally before placing it back into the action.

    • @hieronimgabka4601
      @hieronimgabka4601 Рік тому +5

      Bullshit. You have to temper this end of spring after inline coil modification. Otherwise this end of spring is soft. Ofcourse you have to smooth the ends of spring on both side for mirror surface. This method prevent vibrations, make shooting softer, and reduces gun kicking.

    • @neiledwards8931

    Just found your vid timely. Opened up my Benjamin Classic 22 to see what is up. Chrono showing 426.
    Not much preload in the spring as I put a little pressure on cylinder the main support pin fell out...
    Gets better, Piston needed to be forced out using a probe to slide out of sleeve. Found scrubbing on the piston and ID of sleeve. Seal had metal filings embedded in it. Got pics to prove it.
    Removed spring and found one end squared of and reasonable smooth, However the other end appeared to be hacked off with bolt cutters and not squared or cleaned up. On the end of piston, seal end, there is a small hole drilled through not centered, not done obviously on a lathe...Metal chips....
    Got some work to do but need, to replace the seal and spring for sure after I calculate an appropriate length. Then lotsa polishing and lube. If this is how they "detune" for CA Market am not impressed. Bought this brand new and wasn't cheap at that time. Wish me luck cuz, skill is no problem here.

      As long as it's legal where you live, you can probably make an effective moderator out of PVC pipe with a foam insert or lining.. All you'll need is some pvc pipe slightly smaller or same size as the end of the barrel , a heat gun, a saw/dremel, some foam, and some tape. Probably would look custom (weird)...but it should work.

      Peter V yes that would definitely work but would be illegal in Canada not to sure what the laws are in the states so I would definitely look into that before making anything

      @@BROTUNED .. That's why I started with the legal disclaimer. One day I wish it will be legal here in Canada like the UK... would be more sensible to help people's hearing and noise pollution wherever the guns are used.

      Yes I agree 110% but unfortunately all our government wants is to eliminate guns all together but wouldn’t that be awesome. The liberals are making hard drugs legal because that makes sense lol 😂. But guns are the problem they say. Smh 🤦‍♂️
