    Your plumbing looks good! I did it where I used all 2 inch from and to the pump. Instead of adapting to the pool, I just made a square 2x6 support and went over the edge with my PVC. I also ran a 1.5 inch to my skimmer and it works perfect. I didn’t like the pipes that came with the pool. They failed in the sun. Your setup looks great though!

    I knew there was a way to hard pipe these pools using part hard pipe, part pool hoses. I was trying to figure out how the make the hoses match up to the hard pipe male threaded fitting. Now I know.
    I see that you used the pool clamp fittings to 1 1/2" hose fitting on the suction side. That is exactly what I wanted to do. It would be easier to use those fittings and use hoses to hard pipe.
    Well done. 👍

    Hey! Very good point! I actually use the rubber couplers vice the figuring out the 1.5/2" threaded connectors. It worked well for me. On the one port from pump to pool I used a vice grip to make little teeth marks around the pvc. This gave the coupler something to bite on when clamped. The only reason I went with couplers is the ports on my pump and filter had these barbed inserts made for the standard pool hose. None of the supply stores had adapters and Amazon wasn't a thing back then. LOL I thought the last ice storm tore them up but set up a newer pool, rebuilt filter pump and those old couples still hold. I like your idea. Since I ditched the crap filter pump I have those hoses, just need to get some 2' threaded ends and glue them on. I havent seen rubber sheets around but I bet std toilet gaskets are like 2'

    I would recommend hoses at the pool side and hard pipe at the pump. The vibrations from the pump are negligible, shouldn't fatigue the piping. BUT, the movement of the pool and the weight of the piping hanging from the fittings in the poolside may cause issues with your connections at the pool. You could then also install some hangers to support the piping. Thanks for the info on the adapter fittings.

      I came to same exact conclusion myself, but i feel like either way as long as there’s some hose rather than the pvc at any point it should take the stress off of the entire setup

    Add some regular hoses to the conections from the pool to the hard pipes. It will work as a damper for the wall movements. Great work!

    I'm going with the 1 1/2 high compression hoses from the pool to the hard plumbing. no hard plumbing directly at the pool connection.

    I'm looking for any info I can find, specifically in terms of part numbers or at least names, Of plumbing fittings that will let me attach hard lines to my Coleman (Bestway) pool and Intex salt water system. Anything you've got will be helpful. I'm finding most PVC fittings use tapered pipe fittings with a slightly different pitch than the Intex stuff that seals with an o-ring and flat plate. Hoping to source everything I can from Lowes, Home Depot, Sutherland's, various farm and family stores and locally owned hardware stores if I can.

    I have the same pool and I’m wanting to hard pipe also, will 1 1/2 pvc fittings thread onto the INTEX fittings? I did buy two compression adapters to take the two inlets to 1 1/2 in. I’m wanting to get rid of all tubular hoses. I do like the idea of the two short ones going to pump. Thanks

      Just replace the fittings with real pool fittings. They are easy to install. Plus add a skimmer. Then you have a real pool!

      Michael Webb the 1 1/2 pvc box adapter mates up to the standard 1 1/2” intex fittings...you just have to use the threaded collar from the original hose. Just glue a coupling to the box adapter with the collar in between for your new fitting. Works perfectly!

  • @larryharper2907
    @larryharper2907 4 роки тому +1

    Jeremy you might consider putting in a wall mount skimmer. Easy to do and better than those in pool ones. Works better to. Other than that like your set up. Also you think the two input valves work better than just the one?

    • @txridindirty
      @txridindirty  4 роки тому

      Hi Larry, thank you for your comment. Originally I purchased a thru wall skimmer, but the issue I had was because of the design of my pool, I would lose too much water level for it to work the way I wanted it to. I have been surprised by the Intex skimmer that mounts to the top rail really. Works better than I anticipated. To answer your question about having 2 input valves vs 1...yes I really like the ability to direct the input from where I want it. A good example is when I vacuum the pool, I can use the thru wall input and turn the skimmer off... This is especially important to me as the skimmer I use won't work with a standard vacuum hose adapter.

    • @txridindirty
      @txridindirty  4 роки тому +3

      A 1 1/2” pvc box adapter mates up to the Intex fittings. You rob the threaded collar off the original hose and glue a coupling onto the box adapter with the threaded collar in between. You just have to sand the stamped lettering off the box connector

    • @Marie-kj3xf
      @Marie-kj3xf 4 роки тому +2

      There is a company that makes the fittings 40mm to 1 1/2”. Amazon sells them they are made by “Game” and sell for about $10 for two.

    Great video. I really like what you have done here. Jeromy, what did you use to connect the the 1 1/2" PVC to the outlets on the two suction ports coming out of the pool (shown at :16 seconds in the video)? I have the Intex 9 x 18 pool and our suction ports just have a 3/4" straight piece of rubber tubing that gets clamped to clear hoses in the stock set up.

    • @txridindirty
      @txridindirty  3 роки тому +1

      Hi! I had to make a connection using a 1 1/2” pvc box connector found at Home Depot / Lowes. I cut the OEM hoses and robbed the threaded collar off of them. I glued a 1 1/2” coupling to the box connector with the OEM collar in between.

      I mean that in order for the water level to be correct for the thru wall skimmer, I would have to run the pool with 3-4" lower water level.

    • @txridindirty
      @txridindirty  4 роки тому

      I used a 1 1/2” pvc box adapter and robbed the threaded collars from the hoses the pump came with. So the fitting is the box adapter with the treaded collar over it, going into a 1 1/2” coupling, and then 1 1/2” pvc from there. The 1 1/2” box adapter mates right up to your standard 1 1/2” pool fittings.
