I love these cinematics just because the cities/bases look great.
Ya it's a shame you could make stuff like this in the game.
Map editor you can. I use these for ideas and build my own cities to play on
@@imafreakinninja12 you can, just go single player and put 2 moderates cpus and have fun, make yours citys and just defend the noob cpu
@@Cyprous Ya but there's still things like statues of gods and shrines and other things you can't make that appear in the story mode. Also you can't change the directions buildings face. I did use to do that thing with the cpu as a kid and try my best to make it look like the cinematics. My brother always wished he could build the wall of Troy.
@@imafreakinninja12 you can change directions in extended edition or if u install a mod that actually do this
I know this is such a tiny minor detail, but one of my favorite things about Oracles is their attack animations.
If you upgrade one to a hero then they can attack. And the animation is them swinging around their little torch and using the "Pointy end" (Bottom of the torch)
to whack and smack enemies. The attack animations used to crack me up when I was younger and still does to this day.
one of the best player type
Speaking like that, the Atlanteans even seem overpowered, but it turns out they're not. Still like them, though.
Their weak town centers make them vulnerable, though. Also, their villagers cannot villager rush, unlike Egyptian, for example. Still, very powerful civ, mainly with Oranos.
@Daniel Andreas Vermilion birds can't do anything against priest spam tho
@@softwarelivre2389 It's Uranus
@@JeyEf Its funny, because you're wrong, but you're trying to correct someone who's right.
Don't feel any faction is necessesarily the best but the norse ox drawn gather wagon certainly has its charms.
I watched these tutorial cinematics over and over
Same :D
Nordic tutorial was broken. Infantry didn't build that quickly, they were much slower ingame.
Same, Egyptian my favorite, I remember opening those in the editor and placing enemy units everywhere and play the cinematic.
beady eyes, anglo lies
Me too , i wash Greek have tutorial video too
The weirdest thing about watching again those cinematics isn't nostalgia, but the fact that when i watched them last time as a kid, i didn't know a single word in English, i though they are just babbling nonsense, now i can understand every single word and its a weird feeling xD
Ah yes, pre-patched Atlanteans were OP and basically kicked every other race's asses.
Do you mean the old cd version?
Like a Titan that regenerates?
@Facepalm Full O' Napalm That wasn't patched?! Yikes.
Yeah Hekate in the mythic age tree has an upgrade that allows myth units to regenerate. The ability gets extended to Titans
Fortunately, the Titan regeneration rate with Hekate's Mythic Rejuvenation tech is slow enough that massed heroes still make short work of them, like Hersir or Priest spam (especially with Nephthys's Funeral Rites tech). I'd say it helps them more against buildings than anything else.
Hyperion's Heroic Renewal is still quite strong though.
Beautiful buildings.
The Atlantean is such a great civilization that I consider myself to be one as New Atlantean.
Favourite race :D
Nigel Atlantis/Atlantean race comes from Aryan race, according to Helena Blavatsky. Or better, they're the same thing. ;-)

They're hella OP 😂
the atlantean look a bit op
How so?
CreativeUsernameEh there citizens build and gather 3 times as fast as any other culture and don't need to spend the money on any drop sites, (the extra amount to get them tho i understand but the reward is more then the cost) and also they can upgrade any unit non hero person into a hero to deal with myth units and they can build town centers willy nilly while other cultures have to wait until a certain age to build theirs which takes time and resources.
robosoldier11 They also cost more population, take 3 times longer to train, and the cost of upgrading is way too expensive to justify doing early game. Its actually even, the only difference is less micro. That's their only advantage, and that is only useful for players who don't micro well.
If you're building a TC in Archaic you're going to screw up your economy majorly, if you upgrade normal units to heroes (without Valor) then you're going to screw up your economy too. Atlantean heroes are only slightly stronger than normal, and they take up more population than regular units too.
robosoldier11 They are about quality over quantity. Which means everything even the villagers are far more expensive than the other civilizations.
TBH they've been balanced pretty well contrasted to the other civ.
Unlike the shoddy Chinese civ that was added in the newest edition...
I'm crazy about this game :)
The ultimate booming civ.
They are the perfect example of "few but very strong" in basically everything (except for Myth Units, which I consider somewhat disappointing expecially compared to Greek). Since they are obviously based on Romans there could have been stronger options such as Cerberus, Griffin or Gorgons. Their advanced Myth units are not bad, but the transition from Classical to Heroic age is so poor compared to other (Greek and Norse have powerful options such as Mynotaur, Hydra, Cyclop, Nemean Lion, Manticore, Einherjar, Frost Giant, Battle Boar, Valkyrie, Mountain Giant, Atlantean have shitty units such as Promethean, Caladria, Satir, Automaton, basically nothing strong except from Stymphalian Bird)
Nothing beats Chinese when it comes to unimaginativeness
I love this game so much. There are no other game in this setting which can match up. Damn good campaign in the original part and in the adddon as well. There are confirmed facts about Microsoft has not forgotten AoM. I think it was 2019 they said they wanna make a Definitive Edition. In 2020 they changed and said they have now other plans with this franchise after releasing AoE4 (and that doesn't means shut down) . Maybe AoM2??? Would be so cool!!!
But of course it would be take centurys to finished AoE4 :D
But there is still hope ^^
Boy do I have news for you!
@@medalex195322 i guess you wanna tell about AoM Retold? :D
@@Fenris8800 I love the fact that there are comments like this under a 12 years old video :D Also hyped for Retold
@@PrimusVitarex like that too :D Some things never changes and thats good:)
Used to play the original a lot, first time playing as atlantean rn
@Rick O'Shay there is like a big hole in the plot like in the first game the atlanteans were greeks... perhaps when they got kicked they went back to the roots of their culture?
@@ErniLandia Not really a hole, at the start of the titans expansion campaign they start worshiping Titans as they think the Olympians gods abandonned them (a lie from one character). If you look at various units description you got references to the fact that they worship titans (like the fanatics who is the most obvious one).
Not that it entirely explains such a radical change but it makes the transition a bit more believable.
amazing
The fact that the Atlanteans were left homeless and their way to gain favor is literally building the center of one 😢
Jason Momoa likes this footage.
why ?

Bur? Eshlost!
They really went all out in making the Atlanteans unique.
"There are a few things to understand when playing the Africans. The Hexing Scout is able to curse many enemy units at once, making them much weaker. They can also curse enemy buildings, making them operate much slower. This unit can also set traps that curse enemy units walking into it. Note that Africans have more than one type of temple, and once one is constructed, specific objectives must be completed in order to gain favor. Some of your units can shape-shift, making them much more versatile in combat or gathering resources.
Some buildings can _only_ be built by specific units, but are much faster at building than standard villagers. Once a building is fully constructed, one perk can be selected to empower it, so choose wisely."
The first word that came into my mind suddenly is "ROMAN"
The best civilization
I find their to be the best, especially archers, i would train army of those and the fanatics, then just go micro againts titan with fire arrows from hero archers
Their military is by far the best, especially Turma.
They loose badly to the greeks and egyptians in the lategame.
Yo, where's my Aquaman bro!
A big flaw in these ones, like the greeks the lack of ways to heal troops, some gods are totally unable to heal troops after an attack
this guys voice is similar to the Navy recruiter in System Shock 2..
me who recorded the same thing in EE
They couldn't come up with another way to create favor...
imafreakinninja12 they did? You generate favor by the amount of settlements you have not by praying, fighting or building statues like the other civs
@@thibaultd7979 I'm saying this way of creating favor is not the most creative.
@@imafreakinninja12 ig but it is quite different from the statues as a town center is something completely different, at least it aint as bad as the chinese gardens (such a shame that dlc was so rushed)
@@thibaultd7979 I haven't played the Chinese addition. I thought Scandinavia was kinda pushing it as to how far it was from Greece and Egypt geographically, but now China, which is like almost a third of the way across the world from Europe and Africa, is involved, and I was wondering how the heroes travel there.
@@imafreakinninja12 well it's a stand alone story, doesn't include the characters from the main story or titans expansion, it's really buggy though and kinda rushed but if you simply want more aom you might enjoy it a bit
Why couldn't we get a greek tutorial cinematic :(
The Greek side (starter faction) is familiar in mechanics to players of AoE1 and/or AoE2 (pre-Definitive Edition), just that you can command Villagers into praying near built Temples to gain Favor
Storywise, you play as the Greek faction in the first 1/3 of the full campaign.
why do the automatons make a weird sound when they die?
Bc they're dying, it's hard to concentrate on making a nice sound when you're dying...
