  • The Doctor, Jamie, Ben and Polly find themselves on a seemingly happy colony with a dark secret. Of course, wouldn't be much of a story if it turned out the place was just as nice as it seemed, would it?

I wonder if anyone has ever thought of using machine learning to help rebuild some of the more damaged but still present parts the BBC has for the old Doctor Who.

RE: Chuck's "Emergency call" sketch: I've watched so much _Red Dwarf_ that I instinctively expect to hear a "m'laddo" when someone says "Right, you're on report" now.

You know, considering how dangerous a giant crab would actually be, you’d think they’d show up as monsters in fiction more often

I really hope we get all Chuck's Who essays back some day soon.

There's no way the Beeb is going to front the cost, but I'd absolutely love to see David Bradley as the First Doctor and Reece Shearsmith as the Second Doctor (if they're willing) used to fill in the missing episodes. And make a few more new stories too.

It's not a bad reconstruction, but I will legit never forgive them for leaving out the scene where The Doctor gets his clothes and shoes fancied up, immediately freaks out, and dives into an exerciser to get them nice and ratty again. That's always been one of my quintessential Troughton moments.

They couldn't afford to animate it because it meant they needed to do a second character model. For the same reason, Polly doesn't change costumes in the animated version like she does in the original

@@Mou141 oh I know and understand. I'm mostly being facetious about it, but that was always one of my favorite Troughton scenes.

Love how on the site, Chuck left out what was gonna be released on May 4, implying something Star Wars related was coming, and instead boom: review of the animated Macra Terror. Hey, not complaining, this is one of my favorite 2nd Doctor stories, and Doctor Who certainly is relevant at the moment given what's coming for the show.

(8:29) Yeah, I love 50s/60s sci-fi sounds. They always sent chills down my spine as a kid when I watched old shows on UHF TV. 😎

I'm a more general fan of retro-futures. The sounds, sure, although I can't say I'm a theremin fan, but the outfits, the hairstyles (even when they're just more 'out there' versions of pop culture) and the technology. It's a neat insight into the past that created it.

Counting reconstructions, does anyone know how many we are still missing?

Chuck says at 1:06 that there are 97 episodes missing and as far as I know all of them have been reconstructed using the audio track and surviving telesnaps, censored clips, etc...
