  • Following along on this journey going from Bali's Denpasar Airport on Turkish Airlines Boeing 787 to Istanbul, experiencing the lounge and the private suites on the ground, and then my flight to Lisbon on Turkish Airlines A320 to Lisbon.
Of course I was thrilled to be in business class for such a long flight, but overall I found the service from Turkish Airlines to be haphazard. My experiences in Turkey and flying on Turkish have previously also been mixed.
While some of the cold or careless demeanor was at times off-putting, it was made up for with the incredible opportunity of getting a private suite on the ground in Instanbul's lounge. These private suites with a bed and desk are available for people arriving in business class via a flight longer than 9 hours with a layover between 4-9 hours. It was amazing to get another hour of sleep there in a comfortable bed and have the privacy to relax in a quiet space before boarding my next flight.

I can tell you Biz class service and meal in TK flights are 100x better than any US airlines.

OMG- I love the free private lounge at the Istanbul airport..What a luxury! Turkey Airlines, way to go on this private lounge. Big bonus in my opinion.
When I flew from LA to Bali through Seoul Korea, I really liked the Amenities Korean Airlines provided: Slippers, lavender face mist, lavender hand lotion, a nice pillow and a blanket. They also gave fruit to those why requested it, like an apple, banana or an orange.

Oh wow! I love Lisbon.. which I call the city of cobblestones, limps and walking sticks. I actually twisted my ankle on broken cobblestones in Lisbon and then noticed how many locals had limps and used walking sticks 😂. We travelled through Portugal from south to north by train and thoroughly enjoyed everywhere we went.

14:23 Your video helped me know what to expect when I fly Turkish later this year. As for the bad parts of your trip, I can tell you that this is everyday life for black Americans. But unlike your situation, we are often denied goods and services on purpose. It's not just an oversight. Just fyi. I'm happy to see that your trip ended better than it began. Good honest video. Keep it up!

You assume it’s on purpose. Shit happens to all walks of life. Every negative occurrence in your life isn’t because you’re black.

Turkish coffee I am familiar with always has quite a bit of sediment (which is what I presume is the graininess you’re referring to) - it is never strained. You drink only about 2/3 of the demitasse unless you want a mouthful of fine grounds. I am flying Seattle-Istanbul on the 787 in a couple of weeks and specifically selected an aisle seat because the seats near the window look very confining to me and I can get a little claustrophobic immediately next to a window. I’ve booked the first row on the right side of the aircraft as the footwell in that seat is quite a bit wider because there’s no seat in front. Meal selections (and there are a lot) are available for selection 7 days prior to departure so I don’t anticipate any issues. I do tend to sleep a lot on long haul flights - we’ll see how I do on this aircraft.

When you picked seats, didn't the seat map come up?? Otherwise, seatguru is your friend!

It didn’t show the seat configuration on the turkish website like on other airlines

The airport lounge suite looks interesting. If you were to draw the curtains, will people walking by be able to look into the room?

You are so lucky to have slept for 8 hours. Yeah, the recycled dry air is terrible.
