@@paulsherman1287You’re both making good points, I think, and you hit on some key fixations of the show we’re directed to think about: How can we tell what Nathan thinks of his subjects, what does he want to impart on the viewer, and how does he frame things? I think the reason I like the show soooo much is that it invites us to think about this stuff but refuses to give any clear-cut answers or employ a simple symbolic language. It’s all up in the air and up to the viewer to read into it a cohesive vision of some kind

The Angela actress is so fucking good. She captures the mannerisms and talking patterns of the crunchy oily Christian lady SO well, I can't believe how many people actually believe it's real. But seriously, the casual way she throws in things like "Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life" in conversations, lol, SO reminiscent of my small Christian town.

@@MinaF99 ummm yeah they do, theres a lot of mentally ill and deranged people out there. There’s definitely people who would be categorized as satanists who do disgusting sacrifices. And there’s lots of evidence for it too. Also if there are random death cults who we absolutely know exist and have existed who do disgusting sacrifices and do group suicide, how in the world as you to say definitively there are no groups who do those things?

But only christians believe in the devil actually existing, satanists know he's just a fairytale to scare children and child-like minds into obedience. That's why christians have to make up stories about satanic cults, like with McMartin preschool during the Satanic Panic
People do occassionally commit murders claiming they were possessed by the devil or demons, but you already have to be religious to some extent to believe in those things existing. And since an equal number of people claim to kill on command of Yahweh, like Abraham tried to do with Isaac, it's more likely just symptoms of a mental health crisis rationalized to a culturally acceptable 'supernatural' explanation.
