Good show, folks! I went to a store after work today. I saw that edition of G. T. Stagg. The price was unbelievable. I won't write it here. It was many times what you said it should cost. Have people gone crazy? It was the price I saw Pappy 23 for last year. Same store wanted $78 for Eagle Rare. Nuts! This was in Tennessee.

We we're lucky enough to put these next to each on in a double blind and we both picked Weller over GTS. Absolutely love both bottles though. Just found 2 GTS at our local Meijer for 99.99 each. Crazy!

Excellent, excellent, excellent! Loved this one. As my son, the bourbon connoisseur said to me, I have gone down the rabbit hole. I'm fairly a newbie to this game, but I love it. I got him a Colonel E.H. Taylor Single Barrel for Christmas and he gave me a Springbrook Adirondack Blend. So fun doing the flights to compare. Time for me to get out there and find us a Stagg and a Weller. I'm told it will be a challenge to find and expensive to execute. I'm up for it. Happy New Year!!

I was lucky enough to buy both from a grocery store in town. Could have purchased another BTAC but saved it for someone else to enjoy. Wish I had purchased it now
We got one George t Stagg this year. Drinking it right after the Stagg Jr I got a lot of caramel and the baking spices with a green apple!! So good -- won't be drinking again until a celebration time!!

@It's Bourbon Night, was there a specific batch of the Jefferson's Pritchard Cab Sav finish that Sara preferred over another? Are they a recommend on any batch, if found?

Great idea. I finely got a E mail that my George T Stagg I got at the Total Wine release in November is ready to be picked up. The wait has been killing me. The WLW was the other one I was thinking about getting maybe if I get to do the release next year I will get it. Cheers

At a tasting room this week, I had a George T. Stagg (I paid) and a 23-year-old Pappy (on the house). I much preferred the Stagg (Pappy delicious). Fantastic.

Which one is the best our of those two? Generally speaking, no matter the year, its the one i manage to get a hold of and is in my glass.

I had both this weekend, I was a much bigger fan of the Stagg than the WLW. The WLW came across as more aggressive and less well-rounded. The Stagg was just as aggressive, but much more flavorful and well-rounded. Definitely a big fan of the Stagg.

Yeah, to be fair, it was at a tasting, so I could only have both neat. That was also my first time having WLW, and only the second time having Stagg, so I would probably have to have it a few more times. Also, haven't gotten into testing mine with some water. I still have a long whiskey journey ahead of me...

I was going to buy a bottle of GT Stagg but I bought 5 bottles of SFTB and a sample of 2005 WLW instead and saved $100... the more the merrier :-)
Retail... I'm buying BTAC but secondary market... No Sir! Especially not when I can still get SFTB for around $100USD

Poor man's Stagg. Eat a Hershey bar while drinking Wild Turkey 101. I've tried it ; it works for me. Candy readily available as well as the Wild Turk. Can be accomplished for < than $25 bucks, all day, any day 365. Combo beats tha hell out of apple pie & ice cream.
I passed on GT Stagg that was $400 in the local store. Too much money for me. I passed and got a mini of Blantons instead.

WLW if I could find it. Had the Stagg in a pour and it was delicious. It’s just always 4x-6x retail and both of these is just not worth it to ever pay for that

If you have the experience to manage proof Stagg will change the course of your life. Yes, you have the actually find the unicorn, but nothing will ever be the same.

I really really reeeaaallllyy try not to be pretentious about whiskey but the fact that you’d taste stagg before weller kinda upsets me. Gave me that feeling I get when somebody grabs a $50 glass of wine by the bulb with their fingers that just handled a shrimp cocktail. Proof might be higher, but stagg is much bigger.

William L Weller beats Stagg all the time.. water does make Weller and Stagg so much better.. Weller is more chocolatey, rounded and full for sure..

Picked up a bottle of the Spring release of Old Fitz in June for $199. CA pricing is BS but that was an ok deal to me. Great bottle... so I got a second. Now the 14 yr hits the shelf here at, $499. I'm also seeing some of the BT Antique line selling for $1800 and the Van Winkle stuff has yet to arrive. Bourbon has lost its mind and its relevance. The only people who drink this stuff now are the wealthy and channels like this. You may as well be reviewing moon rocks. And why do you guys insist on even mentioning SRP? Who sees this stuff for anywhere near that? Pure BS.

This video represents why bourbon and whiskey has become annoying... all the hipsters... so annoying... and now all the bourbon (and not so much other whiskeys cause the hipsters haven't caught on yet) is so hard to find because it wins some award and then EVERYBODY goes to buy it!!!! can't wait till they move on to rum and we can have our whiskey back...
