    BRUH... I didn't know smacking the knuckle worked. Didn't seem obvious that it would. Smacking the bolt sure didn't, so the rubber seals on my factory TRE's got demolished by the separator..

    • @PeteHager
      @PeteHager  2 роки тому

      Dang that’s a bummer! I initially smacked the bolt with no results so I watched a few vids for tips and smacking the knuckle was slick. The bulk of comments have said to use a rubber mallet or deadblow next time so I’ll probably do that. Most of them came out in 5-10 solid wacks 😅👍

    ☝🥇THIS was the clear game changer for the Raptor!
    This exact setup, with either Rocket Ron S3's (triple rate) or Elka's ... makes a night and day difference!
    Additionally... this would be the very first thing anyone who is not only serious about trail riding, but if you are someone who likes to push the limits, this is where its at! Id definitely do all of this FIRST to a stock raptor if I had to do it all over again!
    Ohh.. AND the steering stabilizer! THATS also a must!
    Killer work.. KILLER VIDEO Pete! 🔥🔥🔥

    On the topic of taking a hammer to suspension components: it's totally fine but get yourself a brass/rubber hammer or mallet. Hardened steel hammers on aluminum suspension can ruin your day if you unga-bunga it a little too much. Awesome stuff though!

    I'll never sell my 2006 yamaha raptor, just keep modding it. So far, I got a plus 5mm stroker crankshaft, 105.5mm cylinder and piston, plus 3mm intake valves plus 2mm exhaust valves. Stage 3 cam, 11:1 compression piston, didn't want to go too high. EFI controller, freed up intake and exhaust, 23 tall tires up front and 22 inches out Back full Hinson clutch set up. Also installed a new rear axle that's wider as well. Plus it's geared to the moon 🌙. At 75mph in 4th I can pull it up then shift into 5th and it's just stupid. But very fun. This combat veteran loves riding it's my happy place. Probably find something slow for my beautiful exotic Lebanese wife like a Polaris scrambler 400 2-stroke 4x4. But easy to upgrade and toss in a 2-stroke motor from a Polaris RMK or Dragon snowmobile lol. If she gets bored 😴.....

    • @PeteHager
      @PeteHager  2 роки тому +1

      They make long travel .5 XC arms that only widen half an inch over stock on each side. Plus they increase ground clearance. You could set them up with YFZR shocks and it would be sick! That would be wild on the Michigan trails! 👌

    How wide is the rear on your Raptor? Did you add the new axle? And for the Houser a arms do you need new brake lines and shocks or can you stay with what comes stock on the 700r?

    • @PeteHager
      @PeteHager  2 роки тому +1

      I have an adjustable rear axle by lone star. It’s right around 50 inches. I’ve seen people get away with using the OEM brake lines on extended A arms but I chose to get extended lines by streamline. You can always order these arms in standard travel and use your OEM raptor shocks 😊👍

    So exactly how wide is the front now? I'm going with the Alba Racing +2" Adjustable Long Travel Arms that have an adaptor to run Stock Shocks until you can Get/Afford Long Travel Shocks. If a Stock 700r is 46" wide than my +2" (on each Side) should get me to 50", which is what I need for 50" trails here in MI. Does changing to Long Travel add any Width and what year YFZ Shocks did you/can you use for the Raptor? Thanks, Love the Channel...From on Old School 3-Wheel Guy.

    • @PeteHager
      @PeteHager  Рік тому +1

      Mine is right around 49inches with the stock wheel offset. I would think your width would stay the same between the standard/long travel shocks. I didn’t know they made adapters to run standard shocks on long travel arms. The YFZR shocks I picked up were only a couple years old. I want to say they’re the same across the model years as long as you don’t get shocks off one of the narrower X models they made early on 😊

      I really like it, it's surpassed my expectations. The quad hasn't bucked on any hard impacts and I slammed a shelf super hard suddenly a few rides ago. Another where everyone says go buy aftermarket shocks don’t waste your money on revalves. But you and Rocket Ron killed it

      @PeteHager  2 роки тому +1

      The JD arms are nice! I looked at those awhile back. My friend Patrick Riggs recommended the Hess link and so did Ron. I saw Patrick’s Raptor just eating whoops in Florida so I knew I wanted a similar set up. I’m super happy with Ron’s work. Someday I hope to try aftermarket shocks so I can see the comparison with the oems but that will be quite awhile from now 😅👍

    I did the same thing with my Raptor. Lowering it makes a massive difference. The linkage I got is an adjustable length so you can adjust how much lower you have it. I think I went down about 1.5 inches with +2 A arms and rear axle. So much better in turns. It's almost impossible to tip on turns.

    I'm 50 now and would love to get back into atv's. I took a hard end over end on a race worrior . Broke my shoulder,knee and messed back up.. but Man I would ride in a heartbeat!

      Not far behind you in age! Spent most of my youth on a 350X and went through quite a few quads until I landed on the 2006 Honda 450R. I sold that one back in 2011 and really didn’t ride again until I bought a SxS ten years later. It wasn’t long until I said to hell with the SxS and bought an Outlander 1000XXC. I literally had that for two weeks and saw a Yamaha YFZ450R at my local dealership and walked out with it. The next day I ordered a ton from Pete’s website and I’m full fledged back into riding hard again. It’s great having both the sport quad and the trail sofa to rip around on! You can get back into it and you’ll love it!
      #savesportquads!

    My name is (Walid) and I am a new follower of your channel. I am a fan and admirer of the motor cycle, especially the rest, and my experience is little. I liked this type of bike and I always go to the desert, so please advise me and advise me, especially I like the Yamaha Banshee 350 and the Raptor 700. Is the Banshee 350 high pressure equivalent to the Raptor 700? This is according to what I hear Which one do you prefer to choose?🌹

  • @MasonJVO

    Long travel is nice but you dont actually get more suspension travel with long travel shocks you just get more tunability of the springs on the shocks (BNR Motorsports has a video on this). Either way LT or Standard travel with a proper re-spring and new valving with extended A-Arms is the way to go for sure!

    • @RunGMCSyclone
      @RunGMCSyclone 10 місяців тому

      I'm assuming the BNR video is specifically talking about the YFZ450R as he even states other bikes do gain wheel travel. I had to watch it because that's the first time I have heard that. The raptor being almost 4 inches narrower than the 450R has to be the main reason for that difference.

    I have a engine that I would like rebuilt for the raptor 700 do u have any recommendations

    • @PeteHager
      @PeteHager  2 роки тому

      Honestly if I was to do it again I would just Big 3 the machine with an exhaust, FCI intake, and Power Commander. They have plenty of power for dirt riding. I would instead spend that money on suspension like I did in this video. However if you're a dune rider or drag racer then internal mods are worth it. If you're in the midwest I would recommend Illinois Powersports, if you're on the west coast I would check out Cuervo Racing. Unfortunately I don't have any east coast recommendations for builders 👍

      Gotta know! Which bike would you choose as a dune bike only?? The raptor with long travel or the yfz 450r.

    • @PeteHager
      @PeteHager  Рік тому

      Hey Lee, unfortunately Xtravel isn’t making anything for the Raptor and they’ve prioritized SxS’s for now.. I was hoping their quad technology would be available but only a very limited number of machines have been built. Plus the set up would cost 3 times as much as this. I wanted to run a set up that was more widely available to consumers. If Xtravel starts cranking quad kits out and people can buy them then I’ll definitely consider a set up 😅👍
