I was given this recipe over forty years ago. My ex was stationed in Germany, and the talented wives gave some pretty fun lessons. The sweet lady (pun intended) who taught cake decorating and candy making used this same recipes to make some sweet (ditto) chocolate truffles. Just roll the chocolate/CoolWhip combo into balls, firm up, and then dunk them in the chocolate. You could probably add things to the filling and roll the truffles in cocoa, nuts, etc in order to make a variety. Haven’t been this excited in a long time! Love this recipe.
OOH these could be dangerous!! They came looking great Anna..and I know we would love them!! Gonna try it and let you know!! OH and congrats on 600 subs!
Hi, Anna! These look so easy to make. I like 3 Muskateeers, so I'm glad that they actually do taste like the candy bar. I agree that freezing for more than 30 minutes the first time would probably be better. Thanks for sharing!
These were surprisingly good for being so simple! I’ve found that a lot of the recipes I prepare give really short refrigeration/freezing times. I usually try to let things go a little longer if I can. Thanks for watching!
wowza these are amazing! The texture looks out of this world and I can't believe these are so simple! I'd totally try these out, thanks for sharing! Love the chocolatey goodness and they would disappear in a flash hehe
3 ingredients and EASY but time consuming steps... meaning most of that time will be spent walking the dog or watching Food Network or missed episodes of "Cooking the Books"! THANK YOU, as always, for sharing! Think there's a way to work peanut butter into it in some way?? :)
Could you share a link to the oil spritzer you used to oil the foil for the lasagne? I love your channel so much; and have been finding myself mentioning it, or your recipes, or something you said, or that I learned from you to others a LOT! Lol Thanks for what you do. Its a real blessing and so are you. God bless you and yours. 😊👍🏼
Thank you! I can't remember the exact oil spritzer (I've had it for years), but this one looks pretty close to what I use: amzn.to/3tEtcV4 Also, I sometimes see these pop up at Aldi in their 'special buys' section throughout the year!
That is fun. I see how soft they were there but looks like the trip back to the freezer did the trick. Question for you: Are you those Target chocolate morsels? And if so, how do you like them? I've found we like some of the Target line stuff. And, sometimes the prices are very good. Their egg-free mayo is half the price as another store. I love that kinda stuff. Good deals. Good eats.
Thank you!! Yes, I used Target/Good & Gather brand milk chocolate chips for this recipe. They worked great! The price was right (1.99) since I needed 3 bags for this recipe. If you are a sparkling water drinker, the Good & Gather brand has some delightful flavor combinations - cherry lime, strawberry mango, and ginger peach are real winners.
@@cooking_the_books I don't know if I've had sparkling water before. I used to get this cherry fizzy water stuff at Aldi back in the day. Very good price on the chocolates. I'm gonna hop over to their site after this and see if they also sell a no-dairy chocolate, too. Love the price tag! Thanks. PS: Side note: I LOVE ginger peach tea.
Thanks! Cool Whip is kind of like whipped cream only you find it in the freezer section. It was originally a non-dairy whipped topping, but I am not sure if it's still completely dairy free. It's super popular to eat with things like pumpkin pie and on top of Jell-o here.
Why not mix cool whip well into peanut butter, then lightly mix in marshmallow fluff. Then melt the chocolate and dip the tiny candy squares into the chocolate. You can get creative and dip in milk chocolate, then drizzle with dark chocolate. After that you can also drizzle or dip half the piece of candy into white chocolate, then dip and roll around in crushed nuts, coconut, sprinkles, red hearts, whatever. Yeah, it’s all good.
Boy these look good but I am sure they are full of sugar, which I am watching right now. Maybe when I add some sugar back in my diet I might give them a try. I think my co-workers would love these if I made them.
No worse than any other candy! I'm diabetic so I can't really have any but they would make great Christmas gifts for neighbors or hostess for Christmas parties.
Have you tried this recipe? Do you think it tastes like a 3 Musketeers? Let me know in the comments!
Aaaah! ❤ I see the fur baby walking around in the kitchen, watching mommy create candy! LOL! So cute!
Dottie was always my little sidekick in the kitchen. I miss her so much, but I'm really glad she's in so many of my early videos.

It was kind of amazing how they tasted so similar to a 3 Musketeers bar! You should definitely give them a try. Let me know how it goes if you do!
Yum! These look amazing! 😊♥️
I was pretty impressed with how they turned out! It was kind of magical. 😄
Oh my god. This is nuts! Do I like knowing I can do this? 😆
These look so yummy! We have to try this!🍫
(Also love the oldies-sounding background music🥰🎶)
Thank you! These were SO good and kept for several weeks in the freezer. Highly recommend!
What a fun recipe! LD and I are going to have to give it a go!
I was slightly skeptical at first but it really worked!
The whip candy looks great Cooking The Books 😋😍
Thank you! It was really tasty.
Looks so delicious! Love how easy it is and your extra tips on freezer time! -S
They were so good! Extra freezer time is essential. I probably could have made the candy part one day and then dipped them the next.
These look fantastic! Yet could I substitute coconut oil for the shortening?
I have only made the recipe as written. You could definitely try it though!
Yes, but you might need less.
Oh that’s better. Thanks for letting me know. I probably will be trying this recipe.. looks a lot like fudge which I love.
Hello Anna.Another great video.I actually have everything to make this.
Thank you!! These were so good, and lasted really well in the freezer.
Gonna try these....thanks for sharing 😊
Hope you enjoy!❤
Ok I a. So going to make this sometime. Thanks so so much Anna. Hope you have a fabulous night and thanks again 🤗
Let me know how it turns out if you do! I was surprised by how much it tasted like a 3 Musketeers bar.
I'm going to try these

There’s always room for peanut butter! Maybe subbing in some peanut butter chips for part of the chocolate would work?

Looks good❤
Yum. Thanks.

❤ok I'll try it
That does look good. Now I need chocolate, lol.
I love that they keep for quite a while if you put them in the freezer. Not that they last very long! 😂

yumm!! is cool whip is like an all purpose cream?? sorry, i havent heard that before😅 they reminds me of chocolate fudge🤤

I will be making these. Is the recipe printable?
Hi there! The recipe linked in my description is from Taste of Home, so I'm not absolutely sure they make a printable version.
@@cooking_the_booksdo you know if there is a PDF version?
I don’t think that it would last a week in the fridge. I love 3 Musketeers. I’m going to try this recipe this weekend.
Do you think heavy whipped cream could substitute cool whip?
I wonder if using marshmallow cream would work even better?
Worth a try! I have only made the recipe as written.
I'll have to make these for Steve. 3 Musketeers is his favorite.
Oh he will love these! Let me know how it goes if you try them.

You had me at...
let's make some candy.
Does it have to be chocolate chips ?
I would use chocolate bark. It melts smooth and does not require the shorting to coat and solidify.
Have you tried whipping heavy cream instead of Cool Whip? Instead of vegetable oil, use Ghee or coconut oil.
I have only tried the recipe as written.
Fun🍫
These were so good and kept really well in the freezer!
@@cooking_the_books Good to know that they can be frozen!
❤❤❤❤❤
Looks good... But 6 bags of chocolate chips for a 8 inch pan of bars is got to be a little pricy to make.
Hi there! It’s 6 cups of chocolate chips, not 6 bags. Each 12oz bag of chocolate chips contains 2 cups.
Found this because of Tasting Table used a picture from this video.
Thank you for letting me know! I saw the strangest uptick in views on this video and now I know why.
👍
Boy these look good but I am sure they are full of sugar, which I am watching right now. Maybe when I add some sugar back in my diet I might give them a try. I think my co-workers would love these if I made them.
They are a treat for sure! 🍫
No worse than any other candy! I'm diabetic so I can't really have any but they would make great Christmas gifts for neighbors or hostess for Christmas parties.
Why not use sugar free chocolate chips and sugar free cool whip? That's what I'm thinking of doing
If you don't have a dozen children...who can eat that in 5 days? It's much more cost effective to just buy the candy bars.
drat! not vegan :(
🍫🍫🍫🍭🍭🍭👍🥰❤❤❤
