I really enjoyed your “news of the week” at the beginning of your livestreams, not necessarily because I didn’t know the news, but I liked to hear your take on them. So yeah, I would like for it to come back, in whatever format you feel it would work best.
I agree, it was very informative. I'm kind of aware of interesting sci-fi or fantasy series coming into existence but Robert usually points me to the right ones
I'm one of the non-live crowd and I've been missing the updates on what's happening in the wider fantasy world. It's has been a great resource for me (as well as recommendations that sometimes pop-up in the chat, so thank you IDG community 🥰). That being said, I'll happily watch these in short form, as their own thing. Also, looking forward to the comeback of the Traveller's Guide ♥️ I seriously love this series and never stopped wondering what happened to the Astapor episode as it vanished from the playlist.
Thank you Robert. In answer to your question near the end…I don’t watch live because it’s too late for me but I watch Friday mornings, in fact it has been a ritual now for several years. Therefore I do appreciate the streams starting with a round up of news. Having said that I would certainly watch occasional short vids if that suits you better. I would just like to take the opportunity to apologize, I have twice been a Patreon and twice dropped out for financial reasons. It feels very rude to get so much from your channels and not contribute. I hope to in the future if things improve. Many thanks anyway for your work which improves my life!
Usually listen to the stream the following day or throughout the next following days. I like the beginning update whenever there is an update. But an individual video every 2 weeks once a month works for me too. If there's some crazy news that day or the day before announced it in the stream and then make a video all the way up about everything going on the last week or two. Whatever is more efficient but both worked for me lol either or whatever is more efficient better for you but yes I would like what news is going on
I think part of the lack of comms with Edmure by Rob was due to the fact that Edmure had already shown brash incompetence when he was captured the first time. Rob probably thought and was very likely advised to leave Edmure out of war talks due to his immaturity and the “what if he is captured again” talks.
Fantastic stream! I love how you break down locations and the movement of characters. It really helps everything feel even more real. If i could offer a minor suggestion, it would be super helpful as a viewer of you were able to circle or draw on the map when talking about character / army movements and battle / relevant locations. Food for thought! Thank you for your content.
I missed when you announced this new channel! Ive been wondering where these went! So glad I found this channel, small rec is to add the link to this channel in your main channels description. Took me a while to find this one!
Dang, I wish I had caught this one live! I had that same idea about Cat passing on life to Jon with the last kiss . Finding out his true parentage and that he was murdered when he was just about to go fight the Boltons (not just because of Ramsey’s threats, but for Arya) I think would still reach her even in her current state. Maybe reading the pink letter? It would be fitting for her to realize how much she misjudged Jon and decide to sorta pass the torch. It’s improbable I guess but I still like it.
As someone who doesn’t watch your livestreams live, I would prefer if you had separate short videos with updates about tv shows and movies coming out that are in the worlds you discuss. Or if you do them in the live streams maybe do them up front with timestamps so it’s easy for people watching later to skip these sections? Thanks for all the great content that you make 😊
The part that cracks me up about the whole Edmure surrendering my River Run is when Robert says “Edmure let the Black Fish go” we all know damn well Edmure ain’t stopping the Black Fish lol the Black Fish left weather or not Edmure said he could or couldn’t
Perhaps they finally figured out how to talk to each other during the siege. And basically, maybe Edmure finally agreed to take some directions from his uncle. I think the decision to "let the Blackfish go" was the Blackfish's, but that Edmure was in on it, with plans to screen the escape as much as he could.
3:31:30 Why did Robert even want to become king, or was he a bit pushed into it? Later he does not seem to be happy with it. He could have been happy marrying way later someone he really wanted to marry, being Lord of Stromsend.
Robert Arryn is probably an Arryn because little fingers knows Varys would have found out if little fingers was sleeping with Lysa and would have used that info.
Cat didnt like being around John but the reason for not wanting him as next in line is because of the way brutal way inheritance works in asoiaf. The descendants of families will kill for ther supposed rights and its a matter of honour and reputation not always clear cut
Edmure is fairly competent in the books and not a bad lad at all. Show did him dirty. He isnt particularly notable or impressive, but he isnt some feckless nepobaby as many nobles are.
Yes, exactly. It's worth noting that Catelyn represents the vast majority of the narrative in which Edmure appears, and she's clearly an eldest sibling in her thoughts of him. He's never going to be mature or wise enough to impress her because he's always going to be the baby brother. She basically says that outright when she first meets him after 15 years. She thinks that his beard is a boy's attempt at bravery, which would be pretty damn insulting to a man who learned how to be a leader from their father, whom she unconditionally respected. The brightest feather in Edmure's cap, and the thing that Catelyn seems to judge him most harshly for, was his quartering of the smallfolk inside Riverrun. He saw a need an a responsibility to protect the defenseless from Gregor Clegane, and Cat basically calls him a bleeding heart for doing so.
2:38:45 Why didn't the Tullys do better as Lords Paramount of the Trident? I'm not sure why GRRM downplayed the Tullys so much given the influence of the other Lords Paramount in Westeros. Being a "Middle Manager" should definitely raise your status more than it did for the Tullys. Yes you can go straight to the King but the King appoints Middle Managers so he doesn't have to micromanage so that should actually be discouraged. My opinion is that being a Manager is only as good as what you are Manager of. For example being Manager of HR is much more prestigious than being Manager of Building Maintenance (Janitors, etc.). In Westeros the Trident is not as desirable a region as the Reach for example. The Trident doesn't have much in the way of assets and has constant fighting which disrupts farming and trade.

I spent my child hood in Tully my dad was born there ❤
I found interesting the fact that Tywin and Hoster were working on an alliance between their houses.

“Scary honest”. What a great description of Lysa’s character 💀

Yes, I like when you give us news. I miss a lot of the fantasy news and happy to hear it from you. Thanks for the great videos!

I don't watch live, but I also don't really follow a lot of fantasy news, so yes, I would enjoy if these livestreams covered a bit of the news.
I would very much appreciate updates on the status of productions. Please do so. Thanks
Echoing what a lot of people have said: would love news + your thoughts on it
This really made my day. Great discourse!
The Blackfish is exquisite... Throw the rest in the river.
Another great stream as always! Happy i got to be there live!!

I wouldn't mind a "This Month's News" once a month.

@@stephaniesnitily1734 ok, I get that.

Not sure how bothered I'd be about a news of the week style video BUT I'm pretty sure I'd give just about anything you did an honest go so who knows
Isn't there an Elmo Tully also?
Houses Tully, Tyrell and Baratheon, owe house Targaryen a lot.
Cat didnt like being around John but the reason for not wanting him as next in line is because of the way brutal way inheritance works in asoiaf. The descendants of families will kill for ther supposed rights and its a matter of honour and reputation not always clear cut
Have you ever discussed what if Rickard Stark proposed a marriage between Lyanna and Rhaegar before he married Elia Martell and it was accepted.
Muppets are cool, but Long Live House Bracken.

News is good
Why wasn’t edmure married
Jon A was not infertile
The show butchered Edmure, portrayed him as an arrogant twit.
In the books he comes across as caring about his people and family.
