I have seen many ways on how to write a thesis statement; however, this is the best I've ever seen in all my academic studies. Thank you very much. I am no longer scared to write a thesis statement. Everytime it came time to write a thesis, my stomach would start to hurt and I would get up-set. Those days are over. Thank you, Dave. Love the way you teach.

I didn't know choosing a Thesis was so easy! The way you broke it down has helped me immensely in my classwork! I am mostly an Auditory learner and this is exactly what I needed in the absence of a teacher, face-to-face.
Try thinking of your masters thesis as a series of five 10-page papers on different aspects of the same topic. Once the papers are done, add an intro and conclusion and you're done.
I usually ask students to include within their thesis statements the various reasons that you allude to in each example. That expands the length of the sentence and makes it more recognizable within the introduction.
The narrow thesis statement is good practice. I find that students usually fumble the parallelism required to pull it off and complain that a narrow thesis makes their essay sound redundant. But, hey, whatever works.
1000 thanks Mr. Taylor. As I received my first paper, the comments were as follows: Coherence, MLA format and Run on sentences. My second paper stated more work on the structure. Last night we were given the green light to start our research paper, 5-7 pages. I will be watching your videos. Thank you.

Why couldn't have I found this video while I was in highschool. Preparing a thesis statement was always a bit frightening for me. However, this video made it sooooooooo much simpler. Thank God for my lecturer who introduced me to this wonderful video.

I love this video and the one about writing, "The Easy Essay." I have used these videos in my 8th grade classes and they make everything so clear for my students. I have never had such success teaching the thesis as I have as when I have used this video. I love how clear everything is and when he says it is easy, . it really is. I think the problem might be that you have too many ideas (cultures, international affairs, your future) that haven't been assimilated or synthesized. How about something like: "My exposure to foreign cultures has led me to consider a future career in international affairs." Does that do it?

You're wonderful! I have been reading up on thesis skills for a paper due soon and have put in about 14 hours on structuring thus far- English is Not my best subject. I have a clear understanding after a 6 and a half minute video..ACK!
My assignment is to evaluate a bias in research and I had a hard time creating a thesis statement and tiring it with my article that I read sense my professor me to identify steps in critical thinking, thanks Mr. Taylor!
Shawnte R My suggestion would be to change "moneymakers" to "profiteers" since you have already used the word "makers." So your thesis did not have to include steps in critical thinking. It could just be a normal thesis?

Try not to get caught up in length for length's sake. Focus on the purpose of the thesis. Let your purpose dictate length. If you are talking about putting your three main points in the thesis, that went out with platform shoes and poodle skirts.
How I wish that I'd seen your presentation before I wrote my Masters' Thesis! I just missed out on a distinction - I think that I'd have done better with a central hub to work from. Simple, but then then the best ideas always are.
The first example is for undergraduate students I mean it just to collect data so you could prove that thesis. I think if putting more odds to be examined as a hypothesis then it's will be more naturally and logicaly
Hi,bfly-->> Place would be: earth. Time would be since Industrial Revolution. Theme would be: humans altering global climate. My advice is to stay away from questions that can be answered yes/no. So instead of "Is global climate change man-made?" it would be something like "To what extent is global climate change man-made?" or "What is scientific consensus on man-made global climate change?" I can tell by your writing and thinking that you *should* return to school and that you will do well.
