- A few people have asked about my exhaust so I’ve done a video.
Car is 2.8L turbo diesel NL Pajero.
Exhaust is 2.5” mild steel, no mufflers but a flex pipe at bottom of dump pipe.
It’s relatively quiet at light to medium throttle but pretty loud at full throttle.
Engine and turbo are standard but fuel is increased and boost up to 16PSi. - Авто та транспорт
Rad Pajero brother! Got a 1999 model 2.8. M58 BMW engine, rebuilt for offroading in collaboration with Artic Trucks and Sqeet Team Offroading. Got some 44" Toyo M/T on that fucker with Trailmaster suspension - The next step is for sure the exhaust, needs to have the muffler removed for sure! Would recommend you chip tune to stage 1. Even if your Paj has driven over 200k km the engine should be capable of handling the tune-up with ease, Japanese engines last forever - Channels and chassis, not as much. 😆
The 4M40 can handle a bit. Just gotta be careful of heat. Them heads don’t like getting hot. The M58 will be nice. I looked at conversions but just don’t have the spare time.

Very very nice, Ive got a full 2.25 inch (57mm) on my 4m40, sounds very similar. Maybe a tad deeper

Did it lower the EGT after the modification? Im planning to do the same on my pajero and hoping it will lower the EGT. Another thing does it have a resonator on the middle or just staright pipe all the way
Not sure bud. I did the exhaust and egt gauge at the same time. In theory it should. It has a flexi pipe in the dump pipe and straight through after that. No resonator.

@@the12house yes that’s too high. I’m guessing your egt probe is in the manifold and not the dump pipe. If the probe is in the dump pipe then you have problems
4d56 and 4m40 what's the cost difference of ownership and fuel consumption?
Servicing costs are and consumption is similar. The 4D56 uses less fuel, but been less powerful you use more right foot. I find the 4D56 slightly easier to work on. Just make sure the timing belt and balance belt are replaced at the correct intervals. If I had to pick I’d go 4M purely for the fact that NL is my favourite Paj and the diesel NL was 4M
Some pajero owners are running 2 bar pressure around here, is it safe? If I'm going to buy one, can they easily lower the pressure to not show me it? Also how can I check what is the max pressure they ran when test driving their car if buying?
Unfortunately there’s no way of telling how much has been previously run. Just make sure the cooling system is good as 2 bar is blown head gasket territory
Is it just straight pipe from the factory dump pipe or aftermarket dump also?
Hi there. Factory dump pipe cut, a flexi pipe welded in and then straight pipe from there on

Which lift kit and tire size on this Paj?
It has 1” body lift, 3” suspension lift and 35/10.5R16 tyres

How can I identify a NA pajero that was converted to turbo intercooler so that I don't buy a bad job?
As long as it’s been professionally done and all looks neat don’t worry. There would be a lot involved. Turbo, manifolds, oil lines, intercooler, bonnet and fuel pump. If the fuel pump doesn’t have the boost compensator on top then they haven’t done a proper job and are still using NA pump

@@PERTHSCOOTER07 I'm planning to buy a Diesel 4x4 and I've heard a lot of bad things about the 4M40 engine, but nothing from an owner. How have been your experience with this engine? Is it durable?
@@galt507 I’ve had zero dramas. But currently mines broken. The diesel pump has failed at 35,000. Worst thing on 4M40 is cooling system. Don’t look after it and you’ll cook the head. I run a triple core alloy radiator and high flow thermostat

Did 2.5tdi NL blister exist?
Not sure about other countries but not in Australia. NL ran from 97-00 and the 2.5 was replaced with the 2.8 around 1993
