    I have a Mitsubishi Montero that my Jeep friends initially ragged mercilessly. However over many 4x4 trips thru Colorado, Utah, California etc., I’ve been badged the "Mothership" because I’m the one who carries people back to town to get parts, tools, etc., sometimes going over the same trail six times (that broke their jeeps) in a day. It’s old, 170k miles, flawed in a few ways, but it has NEVER left me stranded. Sadly, Mitsubishi has discontinued the model. Mine's a 2002 so it’s 16 years old and still runs great! Locking center and rear diff's but open front so it’s essentially a three wheel drive. A locking front would be nice but sadly not available. If Mitsubishi ever releases a new version, it buy another one today! 😎

    Just a couple of things when winching guys:
    1. When winching you should be inside a vehicle and try to drive your car out of the puddle. Basically - help a winch to get you out, therefore increasing its lifespan by putting a less stress.
    2. NEVER EVER Stand to the side of a cable like you did at 8:44. Cable could easily snap and it could end up badly

    • @danielwilson5102
      @danielwilson5102 6 років тому +11

      If you try and drive the vehicle out as well as winching you run the risk of leaving slack on the drum which could fuck your cable as it won't wind on properly.

    I only stumbled across you a couple of days ago, and as a keen off-roader and instructor, I really hope since making some of these older videos I have seen that you have learned to hold the steering wheel properly :)
    I agree for smiles per pound, nothing compares to a cheap 4x4 and getting down and dirty on some green lanes. I also wish more people have seen the saloon cars off road, no need to spend thousands on ridiculous tyres, huge lift kits etc, just pick the right line and almost any car will go almost anywhere.

    Even though I dont have a drive license yet we got to the countryside with my dad and got to offroad his 1991 toyota hilux. It was winter, the tires were crap, there was a lot of rain and suddenly while I was driving there was a steep tight turn and a stream had eaten half of the road. The car almost rolled. But I lived to tell the story.

      @MrPaukann 6 років тому +1

      ag135i, but isn't the 2 gen Pajero still in production in India? You can buy SsangYong Musso or Korando, Hyundai Galloper, they are cheap.

      I live in the US, and we don't have the Pinon, Jimny, Fortuner, Endeavor, or Pajero. All we have is $85,000 loaded 200 series Land Cruisers (no 70 series) and Jeep Wranglers. I'm pretty sure they used to sell the Sportrak here under the Rocky name, but that was at least 20 years ago and I can't find one. Plus, with the 25 year import rule, all of the good stuff we can import is way too expensive due to demand.

    • @MrPaukann
      @MrPaukann 6 років тому

      M K, you have had 3rd gen Pajero for sure. No 2nd gen? What about Nissan Patrol?
      You can import y60 Patrol and 2 gen Pajero.
