@@Cowaboogerone thing I learned from the Army was that our gear was the definition of cheap, it did its job but third party gear was 100% better, unless you were a operator like a ranger or a green beret then you got the bare minimum in terms of gear, the military knows soldiers like to fuck around and with fucking around comes breaking a lot of things so they have to contract gear that does its job but also is cheap to replace, I remember the first thing I did was purchase some Oakley boots and some new gloves from outdoor research to replace what I was given, now as for my kit from when I was in which was in 2016 you couldn’t replace critical parts of your kit like if you tried to replace your IOTV with a third party plate carrier like a Crye AVS you just wouldn’t be allowed to do that but things may have changed from then. Edit: it’s why I always laugh when I see the word “military grade” in media like movies or video games or In the news

I was driving my granddad’s truck because my car was in the shop. We were coming back from a Super Bowl party and we pulled over and the first thing they do is pull AR 15 saying put your hands in the air don’t move. Then the other cop was giving contradictory commands. Literally thought they were going to shoot me.
Your vehicle probably mached that of one worth intiating a high risk traffic stop on. And listen to whatever officer talked first. They are called the “On scene commander “ they will be responsible for your orders
All plates (cut/size aside) have the same coverage - that said, entry vests are usually designed to also accommodate traditional wrap around 3A panels and most folks run side plates.

Go for 10 x 12 it's enough but not too heavy. Most plate carriers only fit 10 x12 anyways.
