Highly recommend spraying your body armor liner with waterproof spray. Keeps the moisture from entering the fabric and prevents the smell. I do this once a year and you wont have the bo
Only change I would make is advising against using black nitrile gloves. Go for a color like purple or blue if you have to buy your own. When doing trauma care (if that's something your dept. does) it's harder to see blood on black, especially when doing wound sweeps in the dark. Everything else (especially the hand sanitizer) was spot on!
The best note pads imo are rite in the rain, they come in different sizes but obviously as the name suggests the best part is you can use it in the rain which would seem helpful
I carried 2 sets of gloves. Think machanix gloves for people who dont amber turds and roll around in it. And latex type gloves for the ones who roll. Hand sanatizer, get a bottle of rubbing alcohol, keep it in the door. Most hand sanatizer now leaves a film, and that plus steering wheel was not fun. One handcuff key i made manditory was a belt keeper key and put the keeper under the belt. So if hostage and they take the belt, you still have the hidden one. One manditory item was caffine pills for nights.
Note taking is very important for canadian police. Ours are scanned and entered in as evidence. Must use department note books as they are bound and pages numbered. Any unused space on a page needs to be crossed out and initial through it. Entries are numbered..... very procedural. I laugh when i seen america LEOs pull out a dollar store ringed note pad 😅
My favorite under shirts have been the Target active shirts. I think it's "in motion" or something like that. I'm wearing one now, but I'm not taking my stuff off to see. Favorite shirts ever.
I carry a notepad on my vest pocket. I work armed security and take notes on my calls for report. I'm looking at earpieces for my shoulder microphone currently. Great video
•I prefer the note pads that flip open from the top, not the one you showed • I agree about the gloves, for the exact reason you said. I don't even carry real gloves, anymore, just latex gloves • I only use the cheap, small hand cuff keys you showed. And now, I only keep them in my wallet, because I got tired of losing them. Unlike handcuffs, which you need right away, handcuff keys you never need right away
I have Under Armour gloves for day to day use. and a wad of nitrile gloves for the transient covered in who knows what. AND couple of XL Nitrile gloves in case I need to layer up for the REALLY bad ones lolol
Thanks for the video! Some of your ideas and the comments will be incorporated into my earthquake preparedness kit. Also, I suggest you swap your "keeper" pen to the Zebra F-701 with a Fisher Space Pen refill. The F-701 still uses a plastic inner tube to hold everything together, but the outside is all stainless steel.
In my city’s police department they barely issue anything to their officers. Officers need to buy their duty weapons, handcuffs, batons, flashlights and a lot of other stuff, even their belts. The department only issues the uniforms, vests/plate carriers, and tasers.
Have you seen the metal clipboards that hinge in half, I got one for my lady with veterinarian related lingo and knowledge on it for work but they have plain ones I’m sure. Folds up and takes half the space
Good list. The earpiece isn't just so suspects can't hear what's coming thru. I wear earpiece because of noisy environments. Trust me, it doesn't matter how high your volume is, in a certain environment where people are screaming, loud music etc, you won't hear S*-#&$T from dispatch, and they hate repeating things. 😁
@@Justthatofficer Guilty of this, My FTO hated me for it. He would forget to turn down the radio and tell me next time let him know when im about to speak.
Especially in colder climates. I had a cheapo Walmart stick pen freeze up on me after less than 5 minutes outside, but luckily I always have either a Space Pen or Uniball Power Tank with me which haven't failed yet.
How do you set up a dirt belt and where to get all the stuff. My agency dosent provide side arm or rifle or belt. Not opposed to writing anything down. But with modern body cams, do you have easy access to that video to recount and record notes from later after the interaction? Just asking.
I use cheap gloves for 3$ from the dollar store down the hardware Isle, my security company didn't issue me handcuffs, I bought my own what are your thoughts on carrying them bro ? I carry a tactical pen for my self I use cheap pens for other people to use and keep after
I take the same approach with pens, Space Pen for myself and a cheap stick pen beside it for loaners. If the other person sticks it in their mouth or doesn't look healthy (common where I'm assigned), into File 13 it goes. Another thing too, if you like the Parker brand like I do, the Space Pen refills will work with the adaptor supplied with them.
I disagree with the earpiece, or better yet I am indifferent to it. If my safety takes a complete turn because if my radio then I fucked up a long time ago. I have used them in the past, but stopped because of a couple fights I got into. The earpiece came out and I couldn't hear the radio. Since I identified it as a problem for myself, I eliminated the problem.
I can see that, but if I’m in a fight I can care less about the radio traffic on the other end. Handle business then worry about the radio. I don’t use an earpiece now due to having one that has to connect to a helmet, but I loved it when I was training new recruits as I never had to worry about the radio echo.
I recommend the write in the rain note pad the paper is wax paper which makes it water proof

Great idea! Thanks for sharing
What brand do you recommend I'm in middle ga humidity is horrible
Like stochbrite?
Dont use silicone based waterproofer. It is also a lubricant and will help projectiles slide in between kevlar fibers
Under armor offers a LEO discount

I know what your talking about lol . Target has great active wear. I’ll try to find some of those.
Interested as well, but we don't have a Target in my town (AZ), so can you order them online instead?

You must work somewhere with good weather. A write in the rain notbook is necessary for me. Unless i want all my notes gone in a sudden downpour.
Those are a great choice too. Usually good till about 5pm then the sky falls.

The filing system is interesting... What if we don't have a take home car though?
You’ll just have to move it into your car. I put a mobile one in the description. There are also larger seat organizers that could hold them as well.

Many agencies wont let you see the bodycam footage till after the report is written. So you dont make shit up
