I certainly know that feeling of having spent the time to get a system up then it just doesn't. I appreciate seeing it happens even to someone who does a whole helluva lot more full system builds too.
Shtuff happens, man. Love you, Paul. You do great work, and we all appreciate it. CONGRATS ON 50k+ for the charity! Great job to you and Kyle. I'm looking forward to the final video with this system. It looks so sick.
I had issues with the ROG Ryujin II myself as well. The pump would randomly shut itself off during games or even in the desktop. I think it's linked to the USB wire/hub since I noticed when I hear a USB disconnect sound, my CPU temps would rise very fast to TJMax in the MSI Afturberner overlay. I RMA'd it and went with the NZXT Kraken z73. I really liked the display on the ASUS AIO since it's a rectangle shape.
Yes, it may be frustrating for you, Paul. But being honest, it relieves me (a bloody amateur) to see that i am not the only one running into issues when building PCs. Thanks for that!
hmm i was considering a build very similar to this one , but that xtx doesnt look like it reallly fits in that case to me! how was the airflow? couldnt find part 3 did it get made?
Paul you are human like the rest of us. Don't apologize it's cool man. Make sure you spend time with your loved ones before you worry to much about the build.
I think Hyte might benefit from "borrowing" some inspiration from the Fractal North and offer a mesh side panel to replace the main glass for just this situation. The Y60 might be almost incompatible with cards like this one, and suddenly the mesh option makes any 3.X-slot card instantly viable.
or at least make a panel for the side that is mesh at the bottom and glass at the top - I was just thinking about this last week. I have this case - and love it - I'm just afraid of putting a huge gpu in there.....
Sick must be taste testing all those holiday dinner options I know I'm tired of trying to help my sister figure out what she's making I gained like 5 pounds this month 😱
Great job Paul and crew. Unit looks AWESOME. Will make someone very happy im sure. Now go and be with your family for some well deserved time off. Merry Christmas to everyone in internet land also.
The Kids are lucky to have you in their corner, would love to get it going for you and no problem for me if it does not work when shipped, I will help.
Happy to hear you're feeling better. It's good it finally came though, so we can stop this anticipation, cause it was a real mystery which card it would be. I do think the 6900 XT Red Devil did look better than the new one. And with the Special Edition you got some metal Red Devil key caps. I had this card on order and it was cancelled on me without letting me know, and it took a month until I realized 😑 The Red Devil logo is still the best logo for hardware that I've seen. It's so clean and simple, yet still portrays so well what it is.
I wish I was a youtuber so I could spend Christmas in peace. Working till 31. December, even working 24. and 25. I have 5 days off in beginning of January and next vacation after that is summer vacation. F
Hey Paul I love the pc but I think you need to read the paper again it states Minimum System Power requirement (W) 900W I don't know if that 850 is going to be enough.
Heck you should give the winner the option to just accept it and then have it fixed themselves, because for me that's kind of a lot of fun of working with PC hardware, troubleshooting and repairing and feeling proud of what I've done.
Hey Paul (or anyone who can help) I bought the same case and same card but I haven’t put them in yet and I noticed that isn’t a lot of clearance. With how little space there is between the fans and the glass does it actually affect how hot the card gets? I would really like to know.
Just poke some air holes in the glass so that devil can breathe. She'll be right. 👌 Awesome (hardware) job on the build and contribution to the charity.
And that's how we all noticed that the hyte case doesn't meet the hype... not tall enough (eps cable issue) not wife enough you install current gpus...)
Hey Paul, you keep being you and the rest will work itself out just fine. Thanks to you and a few other PC hardware/building channels, this old dog has learned enough about building my own PC that I'll be ready to put one together in 2023. Thanks for what you do.
I think that this is a situation where they definitely need to offer a different side panel configuration if someone wants to put in an air-cooled GPU. I really like the case, but the tempered glass side panel in combination with vertical-only mounting creates a problem you can't work around without spending hundreds more to water-cool your gpu.
Paul just take your time, i am sure you could just do a few more videos on this system and also test if the gpu gets enough fresh air. Happy Xmas to you guys
I woke up at 8am to grab a 7900xtx and as soon as 9 hit I refreshed and they were instantly sold out lmao I was annoyed as hell. I pass by microcenter on the way to work and was like fuck it ima see if they have any, too close not to. I go in, at first I was scared to even ask because I thought it would be a dumb question. Low and behold they had plenty of 7900xtx and several of the Red Devil limited edition. Grabbed a LE and been enjoying it ever since. This is my first pc, I initially had a 6950xt Red Devil but returned it to Amazon as I literally just built this last month so basically a 300 dollar price difference and we’re chilling with a beast of a GPU rn.
I got the same graphics card but my only problem is my monitor is an asus 1440p 240hz g sync. Should I return it and change it for a rtx 4080 to get the advantage of g sync?
I think the natural competitor to the 12VHO power connector, is the classic 24-pin motherboard connector, I think it'd be cool to see TWO 24 pins, one for the motherboard and one for the GPU, it's only 50% bigger than 2x8 pin that many of us are used to.
Could work. It'd have to be wired and keyed differently though, so the two can't be plugged into each other. A 24 pin motherboard cable provides a lot of voltages that a GPU doesn't need. Lots of 3.3 and 5 volts, and also the power supply on pin used to tell the power supply to fully power up when you push power on your case (or motherboard). GPU just takes a bunch of 12 volt lines. You wouldn't want to mix them up, plug them into the wrong spots. You do NOT want to send 12 volts to a bunch of stuff on your motherboard that's only expecting 3.3 or 5 volts. Not unless you want to let the magic smoke out.
Paul, I have been reading allot of people complaining about coil wine on the 7900xtx but I don't see allot of people checking this. Is this something you can do in a video? I was about to purchase one but now i'm holding off till I get more info. thanks in advance. I have a 6900xt reference and I have allot of coil wine but I would rather pay more for something else or wait one more generation not sure what to do. thanks in advance.
The Red Devil 7900 XTX is what I have been considering (when I can find one in stock). I am really interested in seeing how it preforms thermally in the Y60 case.
@@Killswitch1411 What case are you running it in? Mine would be in the same case Paul built in and would have the limited clearance against the glass as he shows in the video. Just curious what I would be facing.
Nice job by Paul and crew and the build sponsors are awesome supporting this charity giveaway! And that build still looks better than I usually manage to accomplish! One important point about the third 8-pin power connector on the GPU. If you were to remove the cooler assembly and look at the actual board, the power routing looks like the third 8-pin is doubled up with the second almost directly on the board and there's minimal extra power filtering - this is not unique to the Red Devil, most 3x8-pin AIBs do this. So while it might be slightly more stable at high loads it won't really help power delivery on the board itself. The bigger deal, looking at most AIBs, is the majority of the actual board layouts look very close to the reference design. The only notable differences a friend and I have seen are on Sapphire Nitro+ (the only 3x8-pin AIB to add additional power filtering), Asus TUF (extra power phase on the VRAM), and ASRock Taichi (higher-current power chokes)
I have temperature Problems with this card. Gpu 65-70 degrees and Hotspot 90-100 degrees 430 watt wtf? This is normal this card. No vapor chamber. Normal coldplate never more amd just Problems
This is what stopped me to take one limited edition red devil for decent price (as far as the current market). It's not even the many many complains about insane coil whine, it's the many complains about really high junction (hotspot) temperatures out of the box. It's literally worse vs reference while the red devil is twice the size.
Hi Paul, I appreciate all the hard work you do to provide awesome content. I have this exact build with exception of the red devil. They are in stock now at local Microcenter and I'm wanting to grab one, but really need to know how the thermals perform in the Hyte Y60 case before I pull the trigger. You mentioned a follow up on this topic but have not seen one. Can you please at least post a comment to address this specific issue? Looks like maybe 1/2" of clearance to the glass...seems pretty tight.

I'd suggest swapping the hefty PSU out for a 150w weaker unit because it matches colours, then jamming a much juicier card in it was a bad move. That card drinks 400 watts and will have transient spikes higher than that. There are a lot of other things sapping power out of that system and I dare say you are now overpowering the weaker PSU. Standard problem solving would dictate if it was fine before swapping the power supply and graphics card, then the problem relates to them.
