    i have a question: do we get marked based on the quality of the point? or is a simple point such as "Zoe acts slow to realise that the situation was dangerous as though nature can do nothing to her" be enough. I found that your points are always highly developed and in class we are taught to keep it short and to the point, hence why I am wondering this.

    • @unthawed7111
      @unthawed7111 2 роки тому +12

      Most of your marks are based on your reference, technique, explanation and zooms on quotes. The point is normally supposed to be short, as I've been told the same as you :)

    • @nurustar01
      @nurustar01 2 роки тому +1

      it’s not really based on the quality of your point, it’s more based on the fact that your point your evidence and analysis link and match. so if the quote is “the jewellery shops were like fairy palaces”, your point might be the writer presents the jewellery shop as magical/beautiful/majestic. any one of those points is a very good point. don’t over complicate your point. you just need to be clear.
      also don’t repeat your point in your analysis.

    • @rial1ttman
      @rial1ttman 2 роки тому +3

      I’d say you definitely need original and insightful points if you want to reach the highest marks, but you don’t get directly marked on the quality of your point so if you have a simple point with really good analysis and explanation, you can still get full marks!

    • @girlegendv2rr132
      @girlegendv2rr132 2 роки тому +2

      yeah the point doesn't have to be lengthy, if you have a short and clear point, u still get the same amount of marks, its more about the content and how u explain

  • @PikaDevs

    How's this for the Ugwu text?
    I strongly agree with the statement, the writer uses a variety of symbolism and metaphorical imagery in order to demonstrate how Ugwu shifts to a feeling of disappointment, juxtaposing his previous emotion of excitement.
    The writer uses a range of metaphorical imagery, in order to demonstrate how grand Ugwu’s excitement is, which ultimately foreshadows how it is impossible to live upto, as seen through the metaphor when he was “too choked with expectation”. The verb “choked” suggests when something is unable to breathe, potentially threatening their life. It could also refer to an object which is lodged within a person’s throat, causing their airways to become blocked. Compounding this with the noun “expectation” shows that his expectation is so large, it poses a threat not only to him, but to his excitement as it chokes it, eventually making it capitulate, and thus bringing an onset of disappointment. Furthermore, the fact that it metaphorically blocks his throat could show that his expectation prevents him from thinking realistically (as it is stuck within him), and thus, reality could never truly match his excitement - it is impossible to do so. This therefore shows that his disappointment later on was inevitable, as his expectation was blown out of proportion and although it may have brought short-term excitement, it can only ultimately lead to a disappointing result.
    Aswell as this, the writer also employs natural imagery to represent the excitement Ugwu feels at the potential unlimited freedom, through the metaphor “bungalows here were painted the colour of the sky”. The noun “sky” could refer to the atmosphere of the Earth, which seems seemingly endless but infact does have an endpoint after further inspection. It could also be referring to an object which reflects the light hitting it, taking on the colour of the object below it. Extrapolating this to the bungalows shows that upon first glance, the bungalows may seem to contain absolute freedom, but in fact it is just an illusion and there is an extent to the freedom they offer. Moreover, they are just reflections of the world around them, providing no more freedom, and thus excitement, than the area Ugwu is attempting to escape from - the presentation is just in a different form. Furthering this, bungalows - unlike regular houses - only have 1 floor, showing the constraints the new job actually provides, and how the freedom is just in fact a mirage, which is unable to satiate Ugwu’s excitement when further looked upon, leading to once again an inevitable disappointment.
    Furthermore, the writer uses symbolism to represent the culmination of Ugwu’s disappointment, as he “stood by the door, waiting”. The symbol and noun “door” could be seen to represent an exit, in order to leave an area. It could also be seen as metaphorically being an opportunity, waiting to be taken. The fact that Ugwu is standing by the door, “waiting”, shows that he may wish to leave, due to the overwhelming disappointment of his expectations being let down. Furthermore, he is not only wishing to leave, but he is wishing to search for new opportunities, showing that he still wants to satiate his exorbitant excitement - and avoid disappointment - and sees this opportunity as now a dead-end, showing that his pure excitement has burnt out, and has been replaced by a feeling of disappointment, almost loss.
    The writer uses a variety of imagery and symbolic objects in order to portray Ugwu’s progression of emotions as originally being gleeful and full of excitement, then later juxtaposed as being disappointed due to his expectations being failed - this was inevitable as his expectations were so large, reality could not hold true to it.
    Appreciate if anyone could rate it, thanks!

In this case the exams content thoroughly is the only limitation, as nothing extra or less is going ot be provided for another individual and the variable is your effort, which is controlled. Essentially everyone does the same exam, everyone gets taught in the same way somewhat and everyone gets the same school resources regardless. What makes you distinct from the person sitting next to you in that exam hall is who put the most effort in, who strived to look for further resources and who actually cares about their exams.
